Seeing other reviews, not sure if it has all changed or they had bad luck. Air-con was on with me at all times. There is a common area, but yeah there’s mostly local people or other Asians and not much interaction. That being said, it’s really clean and beds are good. I would stay again
We stayed in a double bed pod and it was a bit small, and very uncomfortable to sit up and get changed in the morning too. The lack of any communal area was also rather annoying. Having said this, it was very clean.
Booked here for 3 nights initially, and because of the location near some Muay Thai gyms, booked for another 5 nights. The location is good if you want prostitutes, rubbish dumped outside, and to see big rats on your doorstep. Although, that is normal around the city centre. Opposite the hostel is some great street food at a great price, and next door is a 711, which was convenient. There is a rule of no air con from 10:00-18:00 even if it’s constantly 30+ degrees. You will be in a complete sweaty mess with no A/C, when downstairs the lovely reception staff have it on 24/7. 2 of us stayed here and when checking out, we was overcharged 1000 baht. We paid twice in our stay and both times the receptionists overcharged. After a refund of 630 baht during the middle of the week, they used it as an argument for another 1000 baht overcharge in our deposit. We have photos to prove our deposit of 2000 baht total (500 each, twice) and the receptionist only gave 1000 baht back, with an argument. P.S they have double beds which is great, until you find out it is rock hard and extremely uncomfortable. …
Worst experience in a hostel. Loud and inconsiderate guests, old premise with a need of renovation, loud door access noise, not quiet at all in the room. Don't be fooled by the advertised "air-conditioned room", your cubicle doesn't have one, not even a fan! Imagine you close the curtain and it gets so stuffy inside.
If you love the ease and cheap price of a hostel but not the separation from your significant other, then I suggest Matchbox Hostel. We booked the queen-sized cube for two weeks while we were both off studying during the day. Having a shared space to come back to really made the difference for us. There's a rooftop patio and communal kitchen area that made out stay better (and cheaper) because we weren't limited to expensive food typical of hostels. Having a morning, self-made cup of coffee in the fresh air did wonders for my spirit. I gave four stars rather than five because some of the bathrooms were out of service during our stay. There were still plenty of bathrooms and showers available however so it wasn't a huge concern.
Had good ammenities & staff were friendly, around 1km away from bts station Close to the night clubs Only issue was a slight smell which is there once u come to the stair area. Other than that, its a good catch for that price.
I stayed there for a total of 2 days 1 night. Got a bed for 8 female dorm. The cleanliness wasn't as good as what we have read here. Found hair and dust in the bedroom floor. No slipper allowed to be into the bedroom but the floor outside is so dirty. Toilet is stinky. You can easily smell from the lobby. You can find hairs all over in the toilet. No chair for the hair dryer room. Even the table is not wiped and full of dirt too. In term of location, it is about 5 mins walk to Phrom Phong BTS station. Few shopping malls surrounded at this area (such as The Emporium and Terminal 21).
Neat, tidy, value for money. It helps that it is near 711 and lots of food kiosks along it's street. I like the idea that despite being a matchbox, single space comes with tv and own electrical connection.
Had a great stay at matchbox hostel. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet, each bed has its own tv. There was ample bathroom facilities for the amount of guests. The staff were so friendly and lots of good restaurants close by.
We stayed for 3 nights. Location is perfect right next to the BTS line which you should use to get most places as it's so cheap. We had a double matchbox bed, big locker storage underneath which is good for size but very dusty, also a safety deposit box in your matchbox room. Rooms are clean and the aircon is good however... they only leave it on 6pm-10am which is fine if you're out about about but hot if you're not. Mixed gender bathroom and shower but private cubicles so doesn't really make a difference. Fairly clean. Kitchen and lounge area on the top floor with microwave and fridge. Free tea and coffee. Washer and a dryer for your clothes but the hostel don't often have coins so you have to source them yourself (50bht each machine). It smells a bit musky up there as there is water leaking from the wall but it's still a nice place to chill. I gave it a 4/5 as it's great value for money but not the best hostel I've stayed in. All in all a great place. Also contact the hostel directly I seem to think you'll get a better rate.…
