Quiet hotel with character. Good neighborhood for exploring one of the older parts of the city. Helpful friendly people. Nice place to relax and swim after walking around the city in the heat. We had lunch twice at the good restaurant.

The stay at Lamphu was great. They sent us to the second building, which was a few minutes walk from the main lobby. It was very nice, quiet, and safe. The staff was very nice and helpful. The buffet breakfast was nice. Wifi was good. The location is good to walk to certain places, but it's not near the Bangkok...

We wanted a step up after a run down hotel which looked great on photos, turns out the only step up was the price. Beds look comfy but are the hardest beds we slept on during our vacation (including a matress-on-the-ground-guesthouse near phra taht cave). We both got a lower back ache from it. Walls are very thin, we could...

Booking went uncomplicated and they sent us a PDF for showing the taxi driver. Taxi from the airport was 600 Baht. The room was under a bad condition. It looked very dirty and it really had seen better times. The shower was disgusting. Lucky we were just one night there. It is really near to Khao San Road. We didn't...

Full disclosure - I'm happiest in 4 star hotels but prefer to find 3 star that can make me comfortable. We are nearing your tour of SE Asia and this one was my least favourite of the 11 or so hotels in which we stayed. Positives - the staff are amazingly helpful. The breakfast was excellent Negatives - The shower...

This place was awesome! The beds are typically on the harder side in Thailand but this bed was softer. The area is a little bit on the sketchier side but the hotel itself made up for that. Plus it's fairly busy so we never felt unsafe. Unlimited free water which is key and very pleasant staff. The hotel restaurant was...

During our stay there, some construction boat operated all night on the river 5 meters away from the hotel. My mom could not get asleep and she had to catch up some sleep during day time. Other things were Ok. It's a recommended hotel in Lonely Planet and I don't see why.

We stayed in the Prankhorn suite in the main building and the room was fantastic- the photos don't do it justice in my view! There is a large 2 person jacuzzi bath with a very large balcony which wraps around 2 sides of the room. It has a great view to see the sunset over Bangkok. The rooms were clean...

We really enjoyed our stay here (early February 2017) and would recommend this hotel. The room, which was a good size with basic facilities and included a safe, was on the 6th floor and had a nice view of the canal below. The staff were very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. It was a little bit...

We really loved our stay here. The staff was very helpful, and the rooms were nicely accommodating with all the necessities. It is a little bit difficult to access via taxi or Uber, but once we figured out exactly where to be let off (at the bridge over the canal), we were able to settle in easily. The breakfast and...

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
