The staff is friendly and accommodating, the property/grounds is small but entirely lovely. The pool is wonderful and the big wall next to it provides shade in the afternoon, which we appreciated after walking around in the sun all day. Breakfast was delicious and abundant, room service arrived piecemeal and was also delicious. The room and bathroom were huge and well-appointed and the little call buttons to housekeeping were handy. Basically, everything was wonderful and better than perfect. We originally planned to stay two nights and extended to all four because it was so nice. Highly recommend!

This is a lovely, small, modern but retro style boutique hotel within the old city. The staff are super friendly and overall the facilities are excellent for a hotel within this part of town. We stayed in one of the Heritage House Junior Suites and found it to be big enough for a family of 4. The boys slept on a comfortable and very large pull out sofa bed. Beware though, if you are staying in one of the rooms in the Heritage House, be sure to insist on one of the rooms on the first floor. The soundproofing in the building was poor. We stayed in one of the ground floor rooms and could hear every movement and sound made by the guests staying in the room above us. This woke us up several times in the night during our stay. There are also other small areas for improvement, for example: there was a gap between the shower door and the glass panel which meant that the bathroom floor flooded every time someone took a shower. Reception for the international channels was very patchy, although that might have had something to do with the smog in the wider area during our stay. Breakfast selection was fairly small but nonetheless sufficient and tasty. Overall, we found this to be a nice hotel and we enjoyed our stay there. This hotel has really pretty newly renovated rooms. The interior of this hotel is far more appealing than the exterior that could do with a little TLC. This hotel promotes cruel elephant shows. I will not return for this reason. Very disappointing. The hotel was lovely, very modern, service was impeccable if not a little impersonal. Cleaniness was an issue: toothpaste spatter, debris and hair on bathroom floor after housekeeping, orange grout lines. Breakfast was gone by 9am. We ordered off the menu, but there was no fruit left and very few pastries. Fruit was often replenished as we were leaving, but they were not covered and there were flies. The staff were excellent but were run off their feet, especially during breakfast. We heard multiple people asking for food to be replenished or asking when they'd be getting their coffee. We had an issue with our bathroom door and had to waste time convincing the receptionist that non closing door is, in fact, an issue. It was resolved quickly once they checked the room twice and we managed convince the technician that lifting a door that was off-kilter with my thumb and index finger was not possible. …

Dear Kwayef: We apologize for any distress caused by the standard package we offered in the past, which included elephant shows. Following your comment received in February, we removed the shows entirely from our offerings. However, due to high demand from guests and their preference for booking through us rather than external suppliers, we have since resumed the activities, but have limited them to only elephant bathing and feeding. Regarding your other concerns, we regret that you experienced cleanliness issues in your room and limited breakfast options. We understand that during your stay in February 2023, we had just resumed operations after the COVID-19 pandemic, and our staff were still adjusting to the increased demand. However, we have since made significant improvements by providing additional training to our staff and ramping up our operations. We hope that the issue with your bathroom door was resolved to your satisfaction and that you were still able to enjoy some aspects of your stay with us. Very good experience staying in the hotel. The team from old city hotel provided unforgettable service to us. Bell boy was smart, front desk staff were pretty and professional, staff from the restaurant are perfect, always giving us a big smile, the room inside is exactly the same with the pictures, room is clean, big, strong air-conditioning, excellent speakers, free wifi, the bed is big and comfortable. We will definitely come back to the hotel from next vacation in chaing mai!!!

This hotel is working to be high-end, and is well on its way to being there...but it's not quite there yet. The devil, as ever, is in the details - the minor things that take a stay from "good" to "great" are not present here. Pros: Rooms are well-sized, bed is comfortable, everyone working there is endlessly friendly and kind. I had both dinner and breakfast at the onsite restaurant; both were good. Cons: Location isn't ideal - while it's technically inside the old city, it's right on a busy roadway (so lots of street noise) and is a far walk from any major draws, like significant temples or the night market. I didn't realize when booking that Chiang Mai sidewalks are rustic - fine for me, but more of a concern for anyone with limited mobility. Areas to improve: The pool area isn't swept/cleaned in the mornings, so there are leaves everywhere. There is a gang of cats that fight, loudly, next to the pool all day as well. Soundproofing in the rooms is poor - housekeeping starts talking and moving things around in the hallways around 7am, and there's no sleeping through it. Minor housekeeping details - there were small pieces of taped streamer left on the transom from the last guest. I was out of my room from 8:30am-2:30pm, and came back to a room that had not been cleaned yet. No turndown service offered. Overall, this was a perfectly fine stay - they're clearly working hard to present a "five-star" experience, and with some minor improvements, they certainly could get there.…
