Tanita is not a western style hotel, you really feel like you are in Thailand when you are here. The grounds and buildings are beautiful, so much so that most days some Thai people where there doing a photo shoot, always un-intrusive to guest.

According to your inquirััy, there is not malaria in the city. Just be careful when you are trekking near Mynmar or Laos border. You could protect yourself with mosquito spray or lotion if you have sensitive skin. There are not cockroaches in the area, this part of the city is clean and well kept. It is a greener and prettier area by the river, but still more urban than rural.
