Dear traveller... I highly recommend Raming Lodge on Loi Kroh. I have stayed there many times. If you decide to book with Raming, please book a deluxe room on the 5th level if only because (1) any noise from the street is eliminated (2) the deluxe rooms are LARGE (3) the hotel will pick you up from the airport if you inform Raming of your arrival flight details (4) you will also receive a return trip to the airport (5) it is close to the night market and Sunday walking street and other attractions (6) a very good breakfast is provided in the room charge (7) the reception staff speak competent English and are wonderful anyway (8) the food in the restaurant is very good, and (9) you will be just across the street from Wild Boar bar and 'restaurant' where terrific food is available. If you book with Raming please ensure that your room has perfect Wi-Fi !!! The last time we stayed (May 2015) the Wi-Fi on the 5th level was terrible and I had all sorts of difficulty getting it fixed. So: a great hotel for the money (i.e. good value) but make sure the Wi-Fi has been fixed ! I am positive that you will enjoy your stay. If this is your first visit to Chiang Mai, you must always use the red songthaew 'taxis' to move about the city area. The standard charge is 20 baht. Do not get ripped off. Tell the driver where you want to go and if he nods his head, it's 20 baht per person...simple! Do not use so-called 'meter taxis' ...they do not have meters! Other tips: try the 'fish spa' around the corner from Loi Kroh and the massage parlours on the bottom floor of Kad Suang Kaew shopping centre. Happy travelling in a wonderful city...
