We stayed here for one night. The room was clean but the bed felt like concrete. Seems to be a thing in Thailand... the lay out of the room was a bit strange with the sink being on the balcony. Overall it was a pleasant stay right in the middle of the old city centre on a quiet street which...

We stayed at Thapae Gate Lodge for two nights during the Loy Krathong festival. The young Thai women who was most of the time at the reception was friendly and helped us with some questions regarding the festival. We also met the German owner once while we did some research at the downstairs "lobby" area. However, he was rather busy...

I stayed here twice, once at the beginning and once at the end of my two weeks volunteering at an elephant camp. Although it is slightly more expensive than other hostels it is definitely worth it, especially as you get your own room. Staff were very helpful and one of the staff members does runs to the airport for 300...

Stopped here at 1am in the morning in tears as the hostel I was supposed to sleep was a complete disappointment. The entrance is cozy with a shelve where you can borrow books. The women at the reception was very kind and offer me to take a look at the room before I chose one. It was just a nice...

On arrival I was greeted by a friendly Thai lady and shown to my room. Having settled down and showered I attempted to log on to the wifi network. However, while there was clearly a signal I was not able to access the ISP page to enter a password. I went downstairs and advised the receptionist of my trouble and...

Nice budget hotel in a perfect location. Cute rooms and very, very friendly and hospitable staff. Cute garden with nice ice creams. Bed sheet was not clean upon arrival but got cleaned after complaint. Only down point is the club noise starting at 11 and finishing around 4 am... nothing for light sleepers!

Brilliant combination of German effeciency and Thai hospitality. Low-key style focused on providing a quiet, helpful place to lay low at the end of the day. Awesome selection of ice-cream! German Breakfast Garden a few metres away provides an incredible (non-Thai) eating experience. Staff speak excellent English and are happy to help provide help.

For the price i shouldn't expect much. It has the guesthouse vibe, the room was small, clean and cozy with nice lamps at night. The reception woman/manager was very nice but she was alone(owner was out of town) and obviously under a lot of pressure doing everything alone. The air condition stopped blowing cold in the middle of the night and...

I just spent 3 nights at Thapae Gate Lodge. I felt it was good quality for the 590 baht per night I paid for an air conditioned room. The location is close to everything, staff are nice, room was clean, bed was comfortable enough, wifi was usually ok, and they sell cheap, yummy ice cream downstairs! This is a good...

Thapae Gate Lodge seriously exeeded my expectations of a budget guesthouse in Chiangmai. The pleasant helpful staff, the quiet location at walking distance from anything to do in this city, and the calm relaxed vibe made my stay in Chiangmai 10 times better than what I thought it would be like! I highly reccomend this place :)

“The rooms are simple and budget. The area is friendly and there is lots of daily Chiang Mai activity here. The streets are backstreets and narrow and good to walk to check out what is happening around the place. If you need absolute silence then this is not for you. You are amongst the people here, but that is what I loved about it.”
