Detailed Reviews
Been coming here for many years and this trip has been as good as ever.
Small 3 storey hotel tucked away up a side street off the Naklua road. Near to a fee top hotels but far enough away to have very little noise or traffic.
Large room with good size bathroom and a balcony. Includes air-conditioning, TV wardrobe etc.
Staff are super friendly and the pool is so quiet it often is just you using it.
Best part is the price of 650 baht a night, best value I have had in the area.
Was early arriving this time due to s flight change but they let me into my room at no extra cost before 9am. Cannot rate the quality of staff service high enough.

Pattaya wasn't really on our travel agenda as we're backpacking with kids, but we'd arranged to meet some friends here and were a bit worried about the reputation Pattaya has for the seedier side of things.
However, we found it really easy to keep our kids away from the nightlife at this hotel. They loved the pool area, and we loved the sun loungers and the free tea/coffee by the pool. The wifi was nice and fast too so we caught up on emails etc.
Our room was light and sunny, really big and with a bath and hot shower. We got an extra bed put in for 250B/night. The main bed was nice and soft but the camper bed was a bit hard and the kids complained about sleeping on it!
There were some good places to eat nearby; you can choose from cheap local food like noodle soup and som tam, or you can go to a tourist restaurant and have a nice sit down and watch the world go by. There's lots of 7-11's for snacks and drinks, and the in-room fridge means you can keep things chilled.
It's really easy to get into town on the bhat bus (v cheap too) and there are some good shopping malls. We did the Cinema and McDonalds and pretended to be in England again! I wouldn't even bother with the beaches, they are pretty awful and not the main attraction in Pattaya.
The staff at the hotel were really helpful, spoke good English and helped us with directions, taxis etc.
On the downside, the rooms are a bit dated, some cracked tiles etc in the pool, but overall not in bad condition. The main thing I would have liked was a couple of comfy chairs on the balcony. It would also have been nice to have some extra towels at the poolside.

We stayed here during our trip in Pattaya. This hotel is located far from the "happening place" but suitable for us, as we decided to stay at a clean, calm and quiet environment. The hotel is clean with a pool and complimentary tea and coffee. we had two nights reservation. We decided to cut short and stay one night. The front office was helpful and accommodated our request. The rooms are large with clean attached toilet with minimal provisions. We stayed at the third floor room facing the pool and the view is good. They provide complimentary tea and coffee. Once you reach the main road( which is like just 5 mins of walk from the hotel), you can take the 10 baht bus to "walking street and other happening places of Pattaya. We did not face any difficulties reaching to "walking street" or back to the hotel. There are many eateries around and two 7/11. We liked the small thai cafe situated next to the hotel. This cafe' opens from 7AM to 7PM. The front desk people are friendly, helpful. There is a night guard there as well. They understand English. Overall a decent stay.

I can't believe all the positive reviews I'm seeing on here. Our room was clean and the staff are lovely and helpful but the bathroom was tired and shoddy looking with a horrible water stain in the shower. The decor and fittings belonged in the 1970s and our door was flimsy with a very insecure lock. I got the impression it was easy to break into. We had a nice little balcony but that didn't detract from our rather depressing room. The pool had seen better days and all four sun loungers had been taken up by hookers. We decided to check out the beach allegedly a short walk away. Fifteen minutes later we found a nice one hidden amongst all the busy construction work and sky scrapers that blocked out the sun. It had lots of dead fish on it and I wouldn't advise swimming here. The second beach we found was very smelly with streams of effluent coming from the hotels and the third was jam packed with holiday makers crushed like sardines. No room for kids to run around. We checked out and got a taxi back to Bangkok airport to look for a standby flight elsewhere. Perhaps this would suit you if you were a backpacker and only staying for a night but even then I don't think it's good value cheap accommodation. I'd shop around before committing to this place..

The guest while has the right to complain, I would appricate a balanced report. 1: guest states rooms clean but thought outdated style. ( fact room furniture is only 8 yeras old and is scheduled for replacement this low season) not from 1970 2: staff friendly so what was the problem 3:States bathroom stained but then states room clean ( which one is correct) 4: Call other guests hookers ( all paying guest are treated with same respect how do they know these guest were hookers (infact all of all gueats are recorded) 5; insecure door. ( Iam sorry we do not install steel doors to the rooms. we do have 24 hour CCTV and have no security for the past 8 years. All doors are timber 6; Not sure why the hotel is responible for the beach conditons as more than 6 million vistor to pattay enjoy the beaches each. In summary we encourage all guests to make known any issues they might have during their stay this guest elected not to do this and then states because of our resort they booked the next flight from Thailand to leave. I cannot take this review seriously, sure change resorts but to leave Thailand is just not factual. The reason my resort has many positive reviews is because we offer good value and cleaness with good facilities.

Southern Star Resort is located in a quite area of Pattaya but close enough to Beach road. I was suprised at the room size and quality of the fitout. Pool bar and inhouse cable what more could I ask for Recommend to anyone who wants to stay at a value for money resort.

Dear Guest, Firstly let me thank you for the information regards to room cleaness. I have already instructed my manger to ensure all areas of the resorts are cleaned correctly and to my high standards, and will be chekcing on this when i return to my resort this week. I must commuicate that it seems that either you were miss informed or did not understand but the breakfast for 250 baht includes all that you state plus a hot breafast. The juice and cold food is free flowing so you can eat as much as you want so i am sure you will agree this is good value. The price of bottled water is as listed on the price list and off course you always have the choice to buy your own. Check out time is 11am as shown on your booking of course you can always ask for a free late check out . My staff always try and allow such late check out if possble subject to room bookings. Lastly Pattya is a growing city while I would also like to see less constrcution in the Naklua area Once again thank you for feedback all concerns will be addressed ASAP

Have been here now about 10 times. In fact have never stayed elsewhere in Pattaya,so it certainly does it for me.
It is out of the way,and a taxi bus ride away from the centre of Pattaya, but that means you get peace and quiet at night, not noise.Well worth it for me,as I do like my rest.
This time the room was not as good as usual, but I think they were busy, and as such the better rooms had gone. That said it was adequate, and did the job.

I looked at this hotel on agoda and trip advisor and was put of by the fact it was a bit far out, so i booked something else, i didnt like and came back to this place. The soi it is in is quieter than a lot in Pattaya but still busy enough, nice pool area, and a very nice room, didnt see food available, wifi free downstairs but on a subscription upstairs, quite fast. There is a little thai cafe on the doorstep, which i liked to, 500m from the sanctury of truth, i was impressed by this place on the budget it is placed at
