My spouse and I recently stayed here for four nights on the recommendation of a friend.

If you're looking for a ritzy hotel experience, this is not the place to go. However, if you are looking for a comfortable place where you will be taken care of for good value for money, HBGH is an excellent choice. Here's why:

1. Amazing staff like Vivian explained and arranged one of our excursions, laying out a wide range of service/price options without trying to sell us on any particular one.

2. The housekeeper kept the room immaculate and had great attention to detail. Example 1. She kept the wastebasket wherever we moved it. Example 2. Most Asian hotels don't have a top sheet; instead, there's just a comforter. We tend to pull off the comforter wrapping so we can have a lighter covering in addition to the comforter. Rather than putting the wrapper back on the comforter like most hotel housekeepers we've experienced, our housekeeper just made the bed with the wrapping and comforter separate like we had left it.

3. There are significant discounts at the spa for in-house guests.

4. Breakfast is comparatively limited, as some other reviewers have observed, but what there is is tasty and comes super fast.

5. The location is very convenient for all Old Quarter locations by walk or car.

6. All the staff work to make sure you feel welcome and comfortable and have what you need.

The boutique hotel is located centrally in the capital city of Hanoi with a few-minute walk away from major attractions in Hanoi. Staffs are helpful while checking-in & out and they assisted us to book for shuttle tour to Sapa with providing reasonable prices. Breakfast were good and facilities are cool for a size of boutique hotel like this. Impressive service & facilities.

Inexpensive hotel is strategically located in the old quarter with easy access to many sights and sounds. Easy 6 minutes stroll to Hoa Kiem lake. Easy walk to many small shops and street food. There is a spa facility in house.French Bistro across the street. Steak house 10 steps away and an inexpensive Vietnamese restaurant besides it.Hotel used to be called Babylon Hotel. There are are 2 buildings. We were accommodated on building A in a Family suite with 2 king beds. Easily fits four. The room was spacious and size larger the average. One other deluxe room was booked for 2. Down side limited space with no windows. The rooms were well equipped with amenity kits like toothbrush, toothpaste, slippers, coffee, tea and ample supply of bottled water that were promptly filled each day. Free breakfast was included. Selection was plentiful and choices vary each day. Delicious Vietnamese food and cuisine. There was an egg station where you can order omelette or egg Benedict. Food presented beautifully. Beef and chicken pho was delicious and filling! Great food and great stay. Staff were warm, friendly and gracious. Always smiling and ready to help. Tony Pham, the Sales Manager was easy to talk to , responsive and assisted us via What’s App communication. Easy to contact. Booked round trip shuttle for six for $70 and was well worth the hassle especially when arriving at 130 a.m.

Would highly recommend and stay again!!!

This hotel flatters to deceive. It is true that the reception staff are amazingly helpful in organising tours and other queries. The location is also central

So what is wrong

The most basic thing, the rooms. Too small, too overcrowded with beds and no table where you can rest a laptop to work

So if you need to work do not stay there

The bar is overpriced

The restaurant part does not offer 80 per cent of what is on the menu

In the narrow breakfast room there is the horrid practice of washing dishes right inside the restaurant. It is so narrow two people cannot walk sideways

The hotel has a zone b which requires you to walk through a space which is ugly, full of laundry and other things and loud members of the cleaning staff can amping your way

So, not an aesethic experience. Laundry and dishwashing done before your eyes

Oh yes, and no ironing service accompanying your laundry

Do not stay here, except for a brief visit. I spent 9 nights here and I had to do work which proved impossible from the room layout

While we made our reservation a couple of month ago, the communication was a bit weak but based on the pics online we decided to stay with this hotel since the lady was very nice when she did communicate. I was still a bit apprehensive since they didn’t even request a deposit, like the other hotels we stayed at. Before our arrival, I communicated with the manager again to make sure we had the room we requested and she ensured me that all was in order…
As we arrived we were greeted my the staff as we were family. Since we had traveled for nearly 48 hours, the manager showed us our room right away and said we could complete the paperwork in the morning after a good nights rest and a nice complimentary breakfast. May I add, the bed and the pillows were AMAZING.
The breakfast buffet is plentiful with a wide variety of Eastern & Asian dishes and eggs to order.
The sky bar is a great place to relax after exploring Hanoi. The drinks could be a bit stronger, so we just ordered bounces w/o breaking the bank.
The hotel laundry service is great and CHEAP….. So don’t bring too much, you can afford having your laundry done every day…
We didn’t take advantage of the hotel Spa but the couple from Seattle we met over breakfast, said is was fabulous…
The manager was so kind to store our big suitcase when we left for 3 days to visit Sapa….
On this 3 week Vietnam trip we stayed at 3 different hotels (4 nichts each) around the lake in the Old Quarters and this was our absolute favorite…. and the cheapest.
The only issue I experienced during our stay was with the WiFi. They definitely need to upgrade the system….

Stayed in this Hotel on 7th Mar before heading to Sapa, Hotel is located just between the Old quarter and the French Quarter which makes it super convenient for us to just walk around on foot to nearly everywhere. Checking in is fuss free and the staff on duty were all so friendly and welcoming, to be honest i was a little overwhelm by their hospitality and thats a good thing! This hotel is also located just 1 min from Sapa Express, the company we engaged for our bus service to Sapa. The room is clean, the beds are comfy, the toilet and shower works well, and most importantly the price is so so affordable. Due to certain circumstances we have to cut short our Sapa stay and came back to Hanoi 1 day before and we were without a hotel, thus we tried walking in to Babylon Garden again on the 10th Mar to see if there is any room available. The staff is so kind to upgrade us to a bigger room than our previous which we stay a few night before at no extra cost. Thank you so much! i would already definitely recommend this hotel to anyone base on the location, value and cleanliness. The excellent customer service were the icing on the cake! Keep it up!

We booked the hotel based on good reviews, responsiveness of the staff at the time of booking, and a good price. It was so beautiful that we didn't quite believe it was true either.
When we arrived at the hotel we were positively surprised, after a friendly reception we were immediately given a room at 11 am.
The room was comfortably furnished.
every day we were surprised by the incredible kindness of all the staff as well as their efficiency. Given the fairly low price, the breakfast buffet was exceptional.
The location of the hotel is in the center

I found it difficult to rate Hanoi Babylon Garden Hotel. I feel I should rate the hotel higher than 3 but an excellent level of service from the front desk does not out-weigh all the short comings we found during our stay. Breakfast is average at best, our room had plumbing problems, wifi constantly dropped out and the spa was very basic and had a depressing atmosphere. Am I too harsh ? I think not considering that we need to compare properties against each other.

Dear U3248HAronh, Warmest greeting from Babylon Garden Hotel & Spa! Thank you very much for your staying at our hotel and your feedback about us. After we received your report about the problems you met during your staying here, we sent our colleagues to fix the wifi to make sure that the same bad conditions would not happen with the next customers. Besides that, we have customers in the whole world. They come from Western, Asia, and Vietnam. Sometimes, it is difficult for our kitchen staff to have the breakfast being suited to all. About our spa service, the machine, absolutely wasn't our strong points. However, with a caring team, and the reasonable price, we would love to show up our important factors when serving the customers. Wish you the good health, the success and the happiness. If you give us the chance to serve you again, we promise to let you see our effort. Customer Services Department & Babylon Garden Team

Hotel Bendecir is in a great location, it has great helpful and friendly staff, a good varied breakfast offering, and it’s very quiet—in a very noisy city. Overall it’s a great hotel that I would recommend to others wanting to be located in central Hanoi.

The only reservation I have relates to one of the rooms we stayed in. (Our stayed in tow rooms, each for two nights with a trip to Ha Long Bay in the middle). The first room, on the 7th floor was exceptionally good, and if the second room was equivalent to that this review would be 5 stars.

The second room, on the 8th floor, was disappointing. It had probably the worst designed bathroom we have ever seen in a hotel. The shower was right next to the toilet with not even a glass wall—it even a shower curtain—separating them. There was a curtain, but this only provided a barrier to the sink, not the toilet.

We have selected the Bendecir Hotel.based on reading plenty of reviews and looking at traveller photos. However , as soon as we areived the realisation that not all is as it seem online was clear. Reception stuff was lovely and helpful but when we arrived at our room we were not presently welcomed with very mouldy smell mault stains on the bathroom silling. This is not acceptable and we have requested to be moved. There however was only one other room available which was in a process of being renovated, strong smell of paint was too much to bare , so we have stayed in our room. Air conditioning unit was working but was so Lound that we found it hard to sleep. Also to be noted, the room we have been assigned was in a different building and offered no views! Upside was a wall of a different building and air conditioning units so that made a room dark and unpleasant, still we thought, it's a big room with 2 big beds, great for our family. It seem on the surface like it was tidy, apart from questionable stains on the sofa I have decided not to sit on at all! Sky bar was a hit for sure, with beautiful views and drinks. Stuff there was fabulous and very acomodationg hover breakfast was very different affair!
It was arranged in a bizarre way next to a table where stuff cleaned the dishes? And sat or lied down. Kitchen was open and the smell was uninviting! When we arrived half of food was already gone not to be refilled and when I asked for fried eggs they came blackened and overdone. I have asked politely to pls change it but was met with angry looks so I just ate it. We haven't gone back for breakfast again and chose to eat outside. The location was excellent and that is a main sello point. However if you're coming with young family I'd definitely look elsewhere! After 1st night we cold see that the rooms were not properly cleaned. We have used all tye towels on the first night stopping the worn stuff floating from underneath the bath as it wasn't properly sealed so needed a fresh ones, but apart from that and making the bed room wasn't cleaned. I am not a pickly person and am very understanding but small bits like grabbing some rubbish from the table would be a bare minimum. We didn't like the smell of the room and the cocroaches appeared few times. Which wasn't adding to our already questionable stay at this hotel that on the surface and all online pictures look very different that in reality!
