The Splendid Star Grand Hotel & Spa garners appreciation for its prime location, which is a boon for guests eager to explore Hanoi on foot, and its proximity to local culinary delights and attractions, although early morning church bells might be a slight disturbance for some. Patrons often commend the hotel's cleanliness, from spotless rooms to the commendable work of the friendly cleaning staff. The service at this hotel earns high marks for the team's exceptional attentiveness and responsiveness. While the rooms are generally spacious and well-appointed, a few guests have noted maintenance and pest control issues. The comprehensive amenities, including a varied breakfast and reliable WiFi (with some exceptions on higher floors), contribute to the hotel's reputation for providing good value.

The location is the best part of this hotel. If it isn't clear from the posting, this hotel, and two others that are adjacent and across the street are all part of the same complex. If you stay at any of them you can use one of two breakfast areas (one is supposedly more Asian and the other more Western), but both are pretty small. The best part is being able to order something from the kitchen. When we first arrived we were put in a room that we didn't book in a different hotel, which was frustrating because it definitely wasn't as nice and if I had wanted to book it I would have. When I complained the next day they gave us the original room that we had booked in this hotel but the shower door wouldnt close after I entered - I let it go because it's just because I'm bigger than most Vietnamese people. After a trip to Ha Long Bay we came back to the same hotel (They let us keep our bags there and were kind about it) and they upgraded us to what is one of the best rooms, which was a delight and had a shower door that closed. The staff for the most part were accommodating and the manager was always on it - helped us locate our Ha Long Bay transport (we booked through someone else). But, all in all the best part of this hotel is where it is - very centrally located and close to all the best parts of the old town.

Hotel was fabulous location, friendly staff and even included breakfast. Room was small mostly filled up with a large bed and the shower was basically over the toilet but for a budget hotel it exceeded our expectations. The staff will do anything to make you feel welcome and we will definitely recommend this to people travelling to Hanoi on a budget.

Nice room, good meals, clean toilet. Dinh Tran was very helpful. This hotel is very closed to the souvenir market and church where you can buy cheap souvenirs. We went to Halong Bay, and it was a great adventure for family. We hope to visit Vietnam again in the future. Horas.

The staff were very helpful we arrived early for checkin, but the staff were accommodating and got our room ready quickly as soon as the previous guests vacated the room. Once we got in it was very clean and cool. Great beds really soft and a nice little balcony too. We got a free breakfast too and it was delicious. Would definitely recommend especially for the bargain cheap price!

Nice little hotel. It has a great location as it is super close to the lake and St. Joseph's Cathedral. The personal is really sweet and service minded. They helped us book tours and train tickets and they let us borrow a room for free so we could shower after our long trip in Ha Long Bay 😊

This was by far one of the best located places to stay in Hanoi. Helen was so accomodating with everything that we needed. She took the time to make sure we knew where to eat, how to get around and how much we should be paying for local foods. Which where amazing! The hotel is clean and the service was never too much! I will stay here again!

Slept like a baby! The circle bed was a new experience but loved it!! We only stayed here one night as a stop over before Ha long bay but would recommend for a short stay or travellers on a budget especially on Hanoi as accomodation is more expensive here than most of Vietnam. The location is amazing, it’s down an alley so you do need to wheel your luggage a tiny bit but there are amazing cafes, restaurants, St John’s cathedral all within a 30 second walk.
Mr Dong who checked us in was a superstar, him and the team helped get our luggage up the entrance stairs ( don’t worry there is an elevator) our bed was beautifully decorated for Valentine’s Day.
The bathroom is a bit on the rougher side but the temperature and pressure is really good. I would prefer a less modern bathroom with good heat and pressure than a fancy dribble.
Mr Harry is so kind and charming checking on all the guests during breakfast. Breakfast is fine, better than other grander 4 star hotels, everyone seemed to struggle with the coffee machine though.
I would recommend to other travellers for a couple of nights it’s great value and comfortable and the staff are wonderful.

The Splendid hotel is down a small motorbike accessible only road in the Hanoi Old Quarter. Booked a Deluxe Double, high floor facing the back of the hotel so no noise at all. If we returned, would consider upgrade to family room as the king bed left about six inches on one side, there was one chair and no real desk for computer work which we like to do in the evening. Hotel should removed the heavy quilt for the hot season which takes up the little closet space that is available. Due to size of the room and bathroom style, the general humidity in the room was one of the highest we experienced on our 17 day trip in Vietnam (despite the air conditioning). Staff was excellent, very helpful tips from the front desk regarding how to cross Hanoi streets and the nearby excellent well priced MET restaurant (seems to be a small chain -ate dinner there twice). Buffet at breakfast just OK, hot food seemed just warm though, personally prefer less extensive options but the cooked parts served hot or to order (ie eggs) and the breads, fruit and "cold" parts as self serve makes me (as a foreigner) less worried about illness.

We've been put up at Splendid Star for a day today and I must tell you that's it's been a greta experience. The staff is very friendly, courteous and very very helpful, that make our stay even more worthwhile. The rooms are clean and kept well, and hence ever penny you spend feels like it's worth it. Ms.Quyen has been a beautiful person, guiding us through the city and whereabouts, even what to get for gifts for the family. Thanks a lot, Quyen!!

Thanks guys for a lovely experience. Add to it GREAT BREAKFAST!!

Splendid Star had everything we needed. The staff (in our case Dong) was very nice and helpful with arranging rides, recommending activities, and facilitating laundry. Location is excellent and the price is more than fair. Absolutely visit Bun Cha Dac Kim nearby for the best bun cha and Quan Goc Da for delicious pastries.

Answer from Kyle R

Martin owns the place. He is a very friendly and approachable host who takes his time to get to know the people staying at his hotel, and then goes above and beyond to make sure any and all needs are met. My own personal experience was fantastic. He helped me get around town, found the cheapest cigarettes for me and made sure I started every day with my favourite breakfast items and a coffee or three.
