This is, without doubt, the best of them numerous hotels we have stayed in during our Vietnam journey.
Not soley because of the facilities, albeit that they are impressive for such a hotel, but because of the people we met, at all levels, who simply made our stay the success it was.
So the hotel,
It is perfectly located in the centre of old town, a short stroll to the lake, market, water puppet show, shopping streets, and a myriad of restaurants serving all genres of refreshments.
Our room (806) was large, with a very big and extremely comfortable bed, with good quality bedding. We had a well designed ensuite with a very good yet enclosed walk-in shower, so the ensuite itself stayed dry.
We didn't have a view, but realistically, how much time do you spend looking out a wind ? and there was some noise pollution migration at times but nowhere near enough to impact on the positive points of our stay.
The breakfast was an impressive buffet layout, with enough to adequately see you through the day.
The onsite SPA was comfortable, very affordable, and the massages themselves were skillfully delivered.
The onsite evening restaurant and sky bar weren't great in my humble opinion. However, this again in no way detracted from our stay.
The people,
This is where the true strength of this hotel lies, from the ladies in reception who simply couldn't have done anymore for us, they seamlessly altered our booking and stored our luggage whist we were elsewhere ect, to the doormen who smiled a greeting every day.
The skillful young ladies in the spa who were very pleasant, and the smiling trio of ladies who came and made our room habitable every day.
I dare not forget to mention Ha and the other lovely ladies who looked after us every morning and made breakfast a joy, always a smile, always a greeting, it was informal professionalism at its best.
I'm constantly amazed at the number of hotel guests who only interact with reception, when it is all the people who make your stay, and indeed make this hotel.
I highly recommend this hotel for your stay and highly suggest you interact with all the lovely people working to make your stay the best it can be.

This was a hotel for a tour, but it was a wonderful stay that was much better than I expected.

â—ŽThe location was very convenient, there were many restaurants nearby, and it was easy to walk to the old town for sightseeing in a few minutes.
â—ŽWe were three people and we stayed in a corner room, so it was spacious enough and we had space to open our suitcases.
â—ŽThe shower space and water pressure were good, and the bathroom was comfortable without the stress of water leaking and getting the floor wet after the shower.
â—ŽThe bed was very large, and we didn't feel cramped even when sleeping with a 10-year-old child. And the sheets were smooth like silk and comfortable to sleep on.
â—ŽAbove all, the hotel staff were all very kind and very helpful. No one spoke Japanese, but we were able to communicate with each other. They can speak English.
â—ŽThe breakfast was also stylish, and they listened to our requests for egg dishes and made them and brought them to us. The banana bread was homemade and delicious.
â—ŽMineral water is replenished every day for free.
â—ŽWe could also ask them to do our laundry, and it cost just under $2 per kg, which was very helpful in reducing the amount of laundry we had to do after the trip!

If I have the opportunity to go to Hanoi again, I would definitely like to stay at this hotel again.

The best thing I did during my trip to Hanoi was choosing this hotel. The hotel staff were very friendly, and when I checked in, I booked a room with a balcony because I was worried it would be stuffy without a window, but it was more spacious and clean than I expected. The rice noodles and other foods served for breakfast were also delicious. The location is right near Hoan Kiem Lake, so it's easy to get around on foot. You can exchange small amounts of money at the hotel. The spa holds a discount event for guests, and check-out was in the morning, but it can be extended until 5 p.m., but we paid an additional 50%. Even after check-out, the staff helped us finish our trip well, and we took a taxi to get there. I even watched him. Really, I have never seen such friendly staff in any country in the world. This is my first trip to Vietnam, and I think it will remain a very good memory. Thank you for making good memories.

So giving this hotel a 5 star does not mean it is a 5 star meaning over the top or stuffy! I truly cannot say enough about this hotel/staff.
We were welcomed with a drink, snacks & a cold Aromatherapy towel.
They literally thought of all nuances on decorations & amenities.
They offered an airport pickup/drop off & laundry service that was more than affordable.
They only served breakfast buffet & made to order breakfast due to slow season the restaurant was closed for other dining. The breakfast was good!
The rooftop bar was nice, bartender was very accommodating & made delicious drinks.
The room was beyond cute, charming, boutique like.. even down to the shower head & sink. They had ample room, offered several amenities within the room including fresh fruit, bottled h20, coffee, tea, mini bar, hairdryer, combs, toothpaste, shower cap, ear buds, shaving kit, luggage rack, hangers, etc. Air conditioning was perfect. Bed side lights or ambient lighting on the eterge.
The massage & facial in the spa was one of the very best (Nga) & I'm an Lmt/Esthetician (spa owner) I get spa treatments all the time, especially when I travel.
This by far was 1 of the best stays..
Only 1 tiny thing I would suggest is a light-up extendable round vanity mirror for the bathroom sink, as the sink lighting is not enough for hair/makeup.

The staff are very friendly. They even let me check in early for free and said I could wash up at the spa on the day I returned. The location is right next to Hoan Kiem, so it's great for visiting tourist attractions. The basics are, of course, very good. Cleaning is done neatly every day, and it's great that you can order not only a buffet breakfast, but also simple dishes! The rice noodles served for breakfast are delicious! The only downside is that the room I stayed in was on the second floor, so it was a bit noisy. However, the other advantages are good, so I plan to visit again when I come back to Hanoi!

Perfect location in the Old Quarter, really nice rooms and bathrooms (luxurious rain shower and very comfortable bed) making for a 4-Star experience at a really affordable rate, great small fitness room, nice and varied breakfast with lots of yummy Vietnamese options (fresh soup every morning for example) and some Western food as well (though we didn’t try that as we wanted to explore local dishes). The entire breakfast staff, especially Anna, Nga, Ming and Ha (and someone whose name we can’t remember), are so delightful to talk to and make your day start out with a huge smile. The front desk staff are doing everything that you possibly need from them with such kindness and smiles too (they even found a place for me to get my glasses fixed). Emily and Ha couldn’t have been more helpful and they even let us store our luggage for free and sent us away with breakfast packages when we left for a few days to Sapa. Quick and cheap laundry too (also cleaning our muddy hiking shoes) and nice, affordable massages! Loved the surprise in the room, as this was a very special trip for us, making for an unforgettable stay!! 100% recommend!

The location of the hotel is excellent. The front desk staff are great. They answer all questions. They are very patient. The luggage guy is very attentive. The overall experience of staying here is really great. It deserves a high recommendation! As for the rooms in the hotel, they are relatively large for urban prices. The beds are comfortable and not too soft. The pillows are so rare that I don’t have a stiff neck when I sleep on them. The bathroom facilities are also very complete and the water in the shower is not too loud when taking a shower. The temperature does not fluctuate up and down. The drainage system in the bathroom is also very smooth. Even if the hair falls all over the floor during shampooing, the bathroom floor will not immediately become clogged, causing the water level to keep rising. The bathroom is also separated from wet and dry, which is great to enjoy. There are also breakfast options. It’s also very diverse and clean. If you have a chance to come to Vietnam next time, you will definitely stay there again and share it with everyone. Remember to experience it for yourself.

Very comfortable room and centrally located for easy access to many tourist spots. Staff so friendly and helpful. We were able to have our baggage stored at the hotel while visiting Halong Bay and the friendly staff allowed us to shower and use bathroom facilities whilst waiting for late night pickup. Staff at front counter treated us so well and I would highly recommend staying at Shining Central. Thank you.

What can I say this has been a 5 star experience made by the staff and especially Hong at reception. Honestly we travel a lot and I can honestly say that this is the first time ever that we received this level of service from staff, from all staff working in reception, the breakfast staff, sky Bar, housekeeping staff every one of them contributed to us having a very memorable experience here in Hanoi. They organised trips, taxis and advised us against potential scams etc, after our stay we were going to Sapa and on return they offered that we could back to the hotel to wait for our transfer to Halong bay, and Hong actually rang the cruise company to help organise transport. On return we are blown away we arrived after doing the overnight train from Sapa, we arrived at hotel around 6 am and transfer not due to 8.45am they offered the use of a shower which was so welcoming and needed, they also allowed us to use the restaurant for breakfast, if travelling to Hanoi do not overlook this hotel it’s much more than just your bed and breakfast!!

Hi, Breakfast was included with our room rate which was a family room with a balcony. The rate for the airport transfer was $22 . That was for a seven seater as there was 4 of us with luggage.
