I've stayed at flipside for 4 nights, tho I was gone for one night because I've done their Mekong Madness Motorbike Tour which takes 2 days. The hostel itself was very nice. For my liking it was clean, the rooms were nice my bed had a curtain which I really like and under the bed were lockers for your backpack and stuff. I so didn't really notice broken things in the hostel, which some bad reviews have complained about. The hostel is a bit noisy at night, but considering the location (right at walking street) that comes as no surprise and was fine with me.

The staff here is really cool and nice. Jack, the manager, was super friendly and helpful and one night we pre-drink all together at the rooftop bar and went out to a bar/club next to walking street together with the staff that was there. Was definitely good fun!

I have done the "Mekong Madness" Tour that the host organizes where you drive around the Mekong in the jungle for 2 days (180km total) on scooters. It's good fun, but what I think is best is that for some tours you can easily do them yourself to save some money, but not this one. Doing the tour I felt like this is not easily doable by yourself which made it a experience that is very much sort it for me! Also our guide, Delo, was a super nice dude and I've had much fun with him spending the two days together and going out to the walking street on the day we got back. He has extensive knowledge of vietnam and his ability to speak vietnamese and communicate with the locals definitely made this trip stand out and surely makes it stand out from other guides too. If I come back to Vietnam I would do a motorbike tour organized by him just for the sake of doing the tour on the bikes together, because I can be sure it's going to be a great experience and a lot of fun!
Once again thanks for that.

I stayed in this hostel for 4 days and I haven’t got a bad word to say about it. The rooms were good and clean and the staff were excellent! Hagan, Florence and Jake were very helpful, helping us book things and giving info to help us on our travels. They were also amazing on the nights, taking us out and making sure we had a good time! The reception and bar staff are also be try helpful with anything you need and are also very friendly. Definitely would stay again.

FlipSide Hostel was the best hostel to stay at when we arrived to HCM.
The location was ideal and the staff were lovely. They help you out so much. Our luggage was delayed and they were happy to help us call them and take it for us if it hadnt arrived before we left for the next place.
The staff are super friendly and the rooms are clean and tidy.
We will be staying that the Flipside in Hanoi following the pleasant experience.

I had a very bad experience here. Below are my reasons...
1) No running water for parts of 2 days of my stay (10+ hours one day and 6+ for another day). I was here during the coronavirus incident (mid-March, when there were about 100 cases in Vietnam), which may have to do with their inability to repair it quickly, but this should be even more important when cleanliness is especially important.
2) Was not able to get my security deposit back. I told the staff I was leaving early (~5:15 am), but the night guard did not have access to the cash register to return my deposit.
3) Wifi was broken on all 5 dorm floors. It only worked in the lobby and the rooftop. I asked the staff about this and it was broken for all 3 nights of my stay.
4) There was a very arrogant and annoying British staff member who strongly insisted on us playing drinking games when we were already having fun and chatting with each other.
5) The pool didn't have enough water for all 3 nights of the stay.
6) Bathrooms were gross and had mold.
7) A few of the lockers had bent/broken padlock holes, as such, they couldn't be locked.

What's good...
1) It's a social environment. Great place to meet people.
2) Good location in the backpacker area of the city.
3) Staff was nice and friendly.

Overall, I likely won't return and will stay at another hostel if I return to HCM.

Hostel is ok, beds comfy and rooms mostly clean but we encountered rats during breakfast.. gross! It's right next to a nightclub with ridiculous noise - may as well take a mattress and try sleeping in the middle of the club as that is what it feels like! If you want to sleep you'll have to wait until 4am when the nightclub next door closes. We paid for 3 nights but only stayed for 2.

Stayed 2 nights at Flipside. Very social hostel great to meet fellow travellers at the rooftop bar. Charlotte at reception is an absolute delight and makes everyone feel super welcome. Good location near walking street (but far enough away to be reasonably quiet at night) and the Ben Thanh markets. Cleanliness of dorm rooms and bathrooms could be improved, but I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

I didn’t sleep at this hostel so I can’t comment on that side of things...
But I was there every single day purely for how amazing it is for socialising as a solo traveller.
The roof top pool is perfect for chilling and chatting to people and at night everyone comes together there at the bar for games, chats and a good laugh.

The team that work there are incredible, they are so genuine and lovely!

Made some friends for life on that roof top, sad I had to come home.

This is a great hostel and for a lot more reasons than most people think.
The beds are comfy and bathrooms are clean spacious and a lot more than I was expecting when checking into a hostel in Vietnam for the price they charge.
Breakfast is included in the price just have to walk downstairs which is a nice touch.
By far my favourite thing about this is the swimming pool and roof top bar where the WiFi does not work.
And that’s on purpose they don’t have WiFi up there so people talk to each other and socialise and it just works. Great decision by the guys.
Look forward to my next visit.

I ended up staying here a lot longer than planned but all the staff were really lovely and helpful! Especially Danny and Sydney. They gave a really welcoming feel to the place! Chicken wings were good and the rooftop bar has a nice vibe! Some nights the bar crawl was really good!

This is an amazing place for backpackers but keep in mind that it's on walking street and till morning 6AM you will be hearing loud DJ noise.
Breakfast is super limited and not enough for one. Drinks are expensive when buy it from roof top bar.
