Detailed Reviews
We couldn’t fault this hostel for the price we paid. Location was excellent, only a 10/15 minute walk to most of the major sites in HCMC. The hosts were so lovely, and really made us feel welcome, helped us find our way round the city, booked us on a Cu Chi tunnels trip, cooked up a great pho breakfast every morning, and generally were rally great to chat to. The room was basic but very clean and had everything you needed - we would definitely recommend staying here.

Jan and coworkers are very friendly, and very available for solving problems, almost always with an open reception. The laundry service is always available morning to evening typically. The room was great for the price, with AC. In the morning they offer a great Vietnamese breakfast. The bedroom is very comfortable, on the springy side.

Located in a quiet laneway in district 1, this hostel is in prime location in Ho Chi Minh City. Only a 2 minute walk from the famous walking street ‘Bui Vien’, and close to the Ben Thanh Markets.
All of the employees were so friendly and helpful, answering all our questions and giving great recommendations.
The room was quite spacious and perfect for friends or a couple. The shower head was the only issue we had, but it wasn’t a major one.
If I come back to this city again, I will definitely be coming back here. Thank you Jan Hostel Team!!

Room Tip: We didn’t realise the laneway from the hostel went to the walking street! There is a laundry mat...

+1
We arrived at the hostel and went to our ‘deluxe’ room, the bed was like a rock you may as well just sleep on the floor. There were marks on the bed, tap was broken, overall dirty and the tv didn’t work. No one in the hostel spoke English, so we waited until we were put on the phone to someone who did. As we had booked 3 nights we asked if we could change this to one night, the lady on the phone starting yelling at us, she wouldn’t give us a chance to explain what was wrong she just continued yelling accusing us of giving her bad luck for the Chinese New Year. We still remained calm and went to get our belongings as we couldn’t stay in a hotel when the staff are that rude and the room is disgusting. So we went to leave and the lady grabbed us, ripped my boyfriends shirt, starting pulling my hair and kicking me and grabbing my arm forcefully leaving me with bruises. She then yelled for her neighbours so we were surrounded by 15 people, she was screaming at us we told her to get off as she was hurting me. We tried to explain we would sort this out with booking.com but she continued yelling, we ended up paying in cash for the three nights as we didn’t want to get hurt anymore and just wanted to get far away from the hostel. She then lied by messaging booking.com saying we hadn’t paid. After this experience we felt very unsafe - we also read a few other reviews on booking.com and if anyone had a small criticism the owner replied with a very aggressive message. Definitely avoid this hostel!

Jan hostel central point.
We've stayed 3 nights at Jan hostel central point. It was a very pleasant stay and we definitely felt like home as their motto suggested. The staff was really nice and helpful with everything from getting a taxi to helping us convert currencies and figure out how to navigate with the bus and around the city. The room had excellent wifi and was very clean and nice to be in. The location of the hostel was very close to everything that we were looking for in Saigon. There was a small local market with fresh fruit, fish and meat not far away and a lot of nice restaurants in the area. The streetfood scene was also very nice and if you're into partying there was also an entire street full of bars and clubs nearby. Really a truely great place to go if in Saigon.

Jan and Lee looked after me so well at their hotel/hostel. My room was comfortable, cool and clean, and in a great location. They made me a delicious breakfast each day, and a fruit plate on arrival. They were happy to help with any questions I had. Highly recommend this place for your stay in Saigon.

Such a very bad experience, to start with, after arriving to the hostel, was informed there wasn’t any room available ( I booked 4 months in advance) and I had been moved to the other place, which was too far In from the Main Street, went through small dirty streets with a few turns, there was no lift, the room was dirty, the toilet was disgusting, water in the shower had no pressure! Water was on the floor after shower until the next morning! The bathroom was disgusting! Mouldy and stink! The bed was uncomfortable, old and dirty bedding, I had to use a shirt to cover the pillows to be able to sleep in!
Wasted of money! If I can give 0 I would!

The owners are very nice and helpful. They assisted us in every single way and let us feel we are home. The bed is big and the breakfast amazing on the rooftop.
The hostel is located in a small alley so it is very calm even if it is very close to all night attractions of HCMC.
Only point to potentially enhance is the mattress that is a bit hard for us

Stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of our trip and intended to stay for 1/2 more at the end which we had to cancel unfortunately.
The room had no window to the outside and was a bit noisy while the bathroom flooded when you take a shower, but was more than adequate in general. The hosts are friendly and helpful people, location is very good, the breakfast is very tasty and the rooftop terrace is a nice escape from the hustle and bustle in Saigon.
However, due to a change in our flight schedule a couple of weeks later we had to change our second reservation from 2 nights to 1. While Booking.com allowed free cancellation it gave an error when we tried to change the number of nights. We contacted the hostel but got no response after 5 days so we unfortunately had to cancel our entire booking and find another place for 1 night. This gave us no problems but communication (at least via Booking.com) could be improved.
