What a truly lovely hotel. Room is a great size, incredibly clean and beautifully appointed. Breakfast selection is excellent and pool bar food was also great.

Service has been great throughout however a special shoutout to the impressive cocktail skills and service of Kha in the pool bar. Best margarita I’ve had in Vietnam! Thanks Kha and Trang (pool bar team). We also asked for cocktails not on their list (negroni and lychee martinis) and the team were accomodating and the cocktails excellent. Kha even offered Hendricks gin when hubby ordered a g&t with cucumber. Now that’s experience and product knowledge!

Pool isn’t crazy busy (or, wasn’t for us when we were there) and was a great size and is perfect for lazing by after a hot morning out sightseeing.

Only strange thing - giving us only one tea bag in the room per type of tea per day…ah…. are we meant to share a bag? :). Was easily fixed by asking housekeeping for more of course but was unusual.

Would definitely stay there again without hesitation.

Stayed here for 5 nights on the recommendation of a local friend. Hotel is very new, hence in pristine condition and everything is working well. However, its main asset has to be the staff. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Breakfast is excellent too with a change of certain dishes everyday. Restaurant staff anticipates your needs and will bring you something that you have yet to ask for. They observe the guests and are very attentive and proactive. Well done! The in-house spa is great too and though more costly than nearby spas, is worth every penny you spend. Therapists are well trained and professional. Overall, my stay was a great experience. Will certainly visit again. Thank you!

A beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Saigon.

The rooms are tastefully decorated with comfortable furniture and well appointed with modern conveniences (including coffee machine and USB charging ports). Housekeeping do a wonderful job and the routine checks by management ensure the high standards are maintained.

The complimentary in room mini bar is a plus.

We especially enjoyed having breakfast at C’est la vie. There is a good selection of hot and cold food, Vietnamese and Western cuisine on offer. The staff at the restaurant are friendly, professional and attentive which made our experience so enjoyable. We were always warmly greeted with a smile.

The pool area bar was a great place to sit and relax with a Vietnamese iced coffee. It is also a nice oasis from the hustle and bustle of the city. The pool is a little small but large enough for a quick dip to cool down on a warm day.

Great communication at the time of booking and the check in/check out process was professional and efficient. We had a minor mishap with our airport pick up which was appropriately addressed as soon as management were made aware. We appreciated the prompt action taken to remedy the issue.

Mai House is a real gem. Great service, understated elegance, centrally located and good value for money. We will definitely return on our next visit to Saigon!

The building is beautiful, but a beautiful building is not the only component of a five star experience. The first issue was that the rooftop pool/bar was not available at all, a fact that we were not informed of when booking or when we checked in. It was only when I asked how to access that I was told we couldn't. Call me old fashioned, but I regard a rooftop pool as bare minimum for a 5 star hotel. We've been travelling through Vietnam for 2 weeks, and all of hotels had been fantastic, especially the staff who went out of their way to make us feel welcome and special. That, to me, is the essence of a 5 star experience. The staff at the Mai House seemed pretty uninterested to be honest, despite the hotel being almost a ghost town. The breakfast, which you had to order from a menu as opposed to the normal buffet style, often took 20-25 minutes to arrive, often with things missing, despite there being only one other couple to serve, and 5 staff. In a hotel at the Alba resort in Hue, we asked the staff at the desk about how to book train tickets, as we wanted to take a scenic train ride down to Da Dang. A member of staff named Thuy not only advised us on times, but went a picked up the tickets for us,after work, on her own time, and then texted us once we'd left the hotel to wish us a wonderful rest of our trip and happiness and health. That is incredible service. At Mai House, we asked for a table fan, because despite the air con, the room was still very hot. They just said no and asked why we wanted it so cold. That's not good enough for the price you pay. The hotel seemed more interested in catering for the numerous photo shoots that seemed to take place in the lobby rather than caring for paying guests. It is a beautiful building and it's very conveniently located, but it was genuinely disappointing, and the first hotel we've stayed in in Vietnam where I can categorically say we won't return to.

I feel bad writing this review, because after a wonderful reservation experience by email, I had really high hopes for this hotel. I feel particularly down, because every single one of the staff is extremely friendly and courteous.

My gripe is with the hotel as an experience, in general. The place is new, and yet somehow doesn’t feel that way. Breakfast in Mai’s Sky Lounge is akin to eating in a tomb; I felt *that* uncomfortable, because it is empty and eerie. After two tries in the hotel restaurants (and a stint in the Lobby Lounge whose purpose defies me), I had my remaining breakfasts in the city. Even tried room service, but felt the banh mi was “tourist class”. I even complained about incoming noise from another room (yes, THAT kind of noise).

I felt impossible to feel at home here, which is the feeling the hotel actually tries to provide, but obviously fails miserably doing so.

I contacted hotel staff with this exact feedback, but surprisingly, it was basically ignored (apart from a slightly off-topic reply). I think I was fair in my comments and criticisms, and particularly for a 5* hotel, spot on.

No matter the reply, or the offer to do better, no, I won’t be back. You settle issues with actions, not promises.

This is a beautiful hotel I could not fault it on build facilities, room, pool etc. Very impressive . Location is just ok quite a walk to the market but the war museum is close 5 min walk . But having travelled through many top hotels the staff here were very disengaged emails went unanswered, no personal touches no real support at one point I was stuck in a lift from the pool For over ten minutes and the staff were utterly disinterested in helping, food is dreadfully overpriced $28 each for breakfast not in line at all with other local top hotels , also the car to airport from hotel was quoted at 1,500,000 we caught a taxi outside for 108,000, possibly their aiming at the super wealthy but to be honest there’s to much competition in the market for that. The hotel was practically empty for our stay some catch up required for Mai House

Dear Ms. Nolan, Thank you for choosing Mai House Hotel during your recent visit to Saigon. Firstly, please accept my sincere apologies for the series of service shortfalls you experienced during your stay. I understand your point of view regarding to our Limousine Services. I am sorry that you felt it this way. I know that the price is higher than local taxi but that is focusing on the value.

On April 23, I decided to stay in Ho Chi Minh City for one night. I found the design and decoration of this hotel on the Internet. It is the American style I like very much. After arriving, I was not disappointed. Entering the hall, the high celing entrance design, stone, stairs, chandeliers, walkways, furniture... Every detail is very suitable for KOL or Internet celebrity to take pictures here. After entering the room, it is really amazing to see the bathroom with a fully transparent glass compartment and a bathtub with cat feet, especially the choice of furniture and bedding, which also continues the entire American style.

When I went to eat Buffet the next morning, the restaurant's Nanyang-style design, as well as the wide variety of food and beverages, was also amazing, so I spent a long time taking pictures in the restaurant.

It's finally time to check out. I accidentally spilled the coffee in the room, so I wiped it with a small white square towel (34cm*34) from the hotel. Unexpectedly, when I checked out, the hotel charged us VND 700,000!!! saying that the housekeeping department responded that the towel could no longer be bleached so we have to pay for that.

The second point disappointed me is that the hotel charged a deposit of 2 million by credit card when checking in, but after checking out, it didn't take the initiative to delete the deposit. It was me who re-confirmed before leaving, and then the front desk staff made amends. This is really a fatal lack of service in the hotel!

So in conclusion, the hardware facilities of this hotel are very good, but the quality of service needs to be improved.

We had a lovely time at the Mai House Hotel during our stay in HCM. The hotel itself is clearly very new however runs seamlessly with the excellent staff and facilities. The room is well sized, very clean and gets lots of daylight which is nice for a hotel!

The location is great a short walk from a lot of the key attractions in the city as well as being only a 20min ride from the airport. Food and drink at the hotel is great and the breakfast is definitely worth a mention. The small welcome cakes are also a very nice touch.

Overall a great stay and perfect base for our trips round HCM and further afield.

We stayed here for 3 nights and it was our second choice , however we were not disappointed! The hotel has a wow factor upon entry and this continues throughout all the public areas, with stylish decor and high quality fittings. Our room was fantastic: large, luxurious and extremely comfortable. The bed was huge and probable the most comfortable I've ever slept in, with high quality linen and pillows. Excellent breakfast, with SO much choice, and everything was excellent quality. The staff all provided great service, being friendly and professional. Prices were quite high around the hotel, but then I suppose this is to be expected at this type of establishment. The pool and pool area are beautiful. The only drawback was that the Skybar is not yet open, though there are plenty of places around the hotel. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again or recommend to others. Special mention to the gentleman who was usually in the foyer opening the door, who always greeted us with a smile.

Well appointed rooms, gym and pool area. Beautiful lobby area. Check in staff are attentive. Rooms are cleaned well, the turndown service is a nice touch. I am not sure how the gym and pool would survive if the hotel was fully open - neither are large. In fact, I would say that they are very small for a hotel of this size.

I write this to review the restaurant more than anything else. Breakfast is quite a stressful experience. Service is very slow, even at reduced capacity. Staff seem to work hard at not seeing you in order to avoid work. There is essentially just no hussle from service staff. Orders are often incomplete. Many items are delivered without fulfilling the menu's description. Many ingredients are missing. Please do order the cheese 'platter', it is quite an amusing experience. Platter could not be used to describe a side plate with 3 small pieces of cheese and a few raisins at any other establishment for the sake of shame. Again, not how it is described on the menu.

At a 5 star hotel I do not think someone should expect to have to return eggs undercooked. Sadly, I did have to do this here. Both with an omelette and poached eggs. I also tried a waffle and could not eat it. It was stale beyond being edible.

Coffee was often served cold, when you could actually get one. Perhaps this could be easily avoided by setting up a tea/coffee station and alleviating service for staff. Maybe breakfast service could be sped up by asking one of the workers from front of house to help out during busy periods (anyone can collect plates and deliver food) . These are simple fixes that management of a 5 star should implement almost without thought.

I would perhaps stay again, but I would not get any food, breakfast or dinner. For me, a 5 star hotel is only 5 star if it fulfills a certain level of service.
