The hotel is situated near to the centre, 10min by walking. The garden is amazing. My room was dark and the walls not well isolated. Breakfast is poor but good with friendly and helpful staff, so all in all i rate this hotel average.

Reading the reviews previous to booking, I was not expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel was very pretty and had a lovely courtyard. The room I stayed in was very charming, clean and comfortable. The staff did not speak english well, but were very nice. The food was also good.

If we could give 2.5 stars rather than 2, we would. The gardens were pleasant, breakfast ok and the kitchen staff were lovely. The reception girls were helpful if you asked for things- ie; a mozzie net as there were lots in the room. The staff on duty when we arrived at 6pm we're not helpful in the slightest &... More

Pro (+): nice relaxing courtyard; quiet and peaceful; friendly and helpful staff; travel assistance service (laundry, transportation, tours, etc.); decent hot fixed menu breakfast (3 options) prepared in an open kitchen; relatively clean rooms; security gate; harmless geckos come out at night to "decorate" the walls. Con (-): a bit overpriced for a value stay; en suit toilet-shower-sink combo bathroom... More

I would associate this hotel/villa with a homestay. The garden is beautiful and the 'hotel/villa' looks more 'local.' Westerners who would like to experience how most/some Laotians live will find this place attractive. Backpackers, on the other hand, might find this place not too expensive. For me personally, the small room I was given is a typical reflection of such... More

When I first entered the compound I thought, "This doesn't match up to the photos online" as the gardens were in need of some work and it looked old....However, once we settled in and got some food cooked by the sweetest lady, the charm of it started to sink in. The room, superior in B side, was big and had... More

I normally don't write reviews... But to all travellers considering this venue be warned! Me and my friend stayed for two nights at villa Lao, originally four in 6&7 August. The hotel staff were terrible and it didn't come down to language just acted like they didn't hear your request and hoped you went away! The room, and I've stayed... More

this place is falling apart. the walls are super thin. the ac is weak. everything is worn down. there are gaps between the ceiling and wall, and around the top of the door so mosquitoes can easily come in and what cool air there is goes out. the fridge, TV, etc needs replacing. the only good things about this place... It is a beautiful complex with several houses in a small garden secluded in a housing area a little outside of downtown; a 20 minute walk will bring you there. Spacious rooms with old wooden floor planks provide a taste of the colonial area. There is also lots of common area with seating and tables. No kettle, no TV and... More

We found it difficult to find somewhere within our budget and up to our usual standards in Vientiane. I don't have anything bad to say about Villa Laos. It was quiet, clean and basic. Staff are very friendly and helpful, breakfast was minimal but suitable, the rooms were spacious but uncomplicated and it did have a certain charm with its... More
