My family is holding a cermony at this hotel venue and booked couple of nights at this hotel but moved out in the first night due to luck of customer service and hot water. If you are western traveller better ovoid this hotel in many ways it's way to big and seems run by their Korean owners way.

Those, who just got in UB by late night, looking for a place to sleep for just single night, and did not booked a room, are better to go to 24-hour public sauna of this hotel. Clean service with safe box, shower, pool, sauna rooms, body scrub, everything is there. On the second floor or relaxation rooms, there are cafe (at night they are closed), coffee desk that sells instant noodles, computers with free Internet, smoking room, massage rooms, different hot sauna rooms, TV and a room that you can sleep. It is quite good for 10$.

I don't know why but I had a preformed opinion of this hotel. We had booked it because we had one night in UB before heading off on Safari and it was a good price. Arrived at the airport at 0830 and after clearing customs we grabbed a taxi which took us via a variety of rather scarey roads to the the hotel. Check in was seamless, despite a large number of guests checking out, staff spoke good English and were eager to help. We were too early for the room to have been made up so luggage was left with the head porter (without the benefit of a receipt) and we returned at 1200 to move into the room. It must be said that this hotel is not centrally located so a trip into town will require a taxi (easily and swiftly arranged by Reception who came out to tell the driver where to take us and verified the costs). As a result of a request made at the time of booking an extra bed was available in the room. Tea and coffee making facilities and internet were available in the room.. The bathroom was clean and totally adequate. Breakfast was an interesting collection of Asian and western food (everything from seaweed to scrambled eggs). The room was large and clean and the beds were comfortable - if I had to be picky I would say that the pillows were very soft. For the one night we were in town it was totally adequate - Would I stay here again - No - but only because it is so far from the centre of town .

It's a somewhat surreal experience coming to the Sunjin Grand, which is way out in the suburbs of eastern UB. You wind your way through about 5 km of traffic jams on the road out of town, through a few half-built apartment blocks, and then suddenly turn the corner to arrive at a very shiny and (for Mongolia) fairly glitzy Korean hotel. The location is not a strong point - about 5-6 km out of town, and not near anywhere particularly interesting or useful except for the Roman Catholic Cathedral and Mongolia International University. So the perfect location if you've business at either of those places, but otherwise it's a real trek into town, through bad traffic. It's too far to be comfortably walkable, and trekking along a potholed pavement running by a busy road ain't much fun anyway. Having said that, the hotel is decent. The rooms are very spacious, light, and with good working space. Yet although the hotel's quite new, it seems to have been furnished in 1970s "beige and orange" style. Except for the bathrooms, which are really quite stylish (although lighting is so minimal that you can't see much once inside). There's a good-sized TV, free internet, and the usual mini-bar. As the Sunjin Grand is not close to any shops, restaurants or the like, you really have no option (unless you taxi) but to eat in. The food's edible, but nothing to write home about. My only real complaint was the lack of heating - there was still snow on the ground outside, and yet the radiators had been switched off in the rooms. I spent most of my (work) visit wrapped in blankets as I worked at the computer.

I was booked in this hotel on a business trip. It was OK. Nothing particular or odd. This hotel is descent, and clean, for business. I met many foreigners who stay there on weekends after working in the Mongolian mines in the regions. I enjoyed my stay paid for by the employer. Too far to my work site at the Raffle Institute. I took taxi for a week.

I stayed in this hotel for a week during a work trip to Ulaanbaatar. Location: It's located on the eastern side of the city and not convenient to walking to restaurants or tourist attractions, however, it is located next to Mongolia International University and the Roman Catholic Cathedral. The street into the city center was in bad condition and sidewalks aren't the best either. Room: My room was clean and the shower was very nice, although the decor seemed a bit dated. Hot water was intermittent at times. Food: The free breakfast was ok by Western standards and seemed to be set up to accommodate Korean travelers (the hotel is owned by a Korean company). The other restaurant has ok food, but as typical in Mongolia, service was slow by Western standards. Service: The front desk receptionists do not speak great English so it might be difficult communicating your needs. There is an ATM on the premise.

Air China put us up in the Sunjin Hotel due to a delayed flight to Beijing and what an extremely pleasant surprise! The hotel is really quite luxurious. If this establishment were located centrally (instead of in the boondocks where it is at the moment), the Sunjin would beat its competitors handsdown, so impressed I was with the comfort of the place and the politeness and helpfulness of the staff. Alas, only the location and Ulaanbaatar's heavy traffic would deter me from coming back, which is a shame, as the hotel is very good. But you make your own minds up!
