The UB Grand Hotel has an excellent central location mid in the heart of UB city, has a wonderful Chinese Restaurant in the upper most floor with a fantastic view on the city and nice coffee shop in the 1st floor/reception. The breakfast is standard, the rooms clean and functional and the staff always engaged to fulfil the wishes of the guests. I can recommend this location expressively.

The hotel is not bad, not expensive and is the best location. I had a better impression of it a year ago though. The breakfast was a particularly disappointing change: I remember that it was really good and interesting, while now it is somewhere between 2 and 3 stars expectation

The rooms are situated above floor 11th but the windows are so narrow and deep that is difficult to appreciate the views. Also some rooms have a pillar in the middle making them a less comfortable. The breakfast is an average continental one.

Rooms are clean but partly a bit worn out. The service is poor underground: At breakfast, eaten plates stand around, the "buffet" is emptied and is not replenished despite demand, no more coffee, no staff to see who prefers to talk animatedly in the kitchen. Mind you, we were at breakfast at 8.00am, which is supposed to be available until 9.00am. Room service rather careless.

Perfect location to explore Ulaanbaatar or to start your trip through Mongolia. Very good rooms with a grand view, best beds we had within three weeks, yummy breakfast (partly European, partly Mongolian), neat bar and an exceptional restaurant for dinner hours. Very nice and caring hotel manager and allover very good service. Thanks!

After spending 10 days at a different hotel, due to safety concerns, I was forced to depart and seek accommodations at new hotel. The U Grand Hotel was my chose. The UB Grand Hotel is situated in the Sukhbaatar district, just across the street from the Government House and Sukhbaatar Square. It a modern 17 story skyscraper and has all the necessary requirements to be a 3 star hotel. Upon arrival at the facility, I was greeted by Enrhmanlai a receptionist at the hotel. This young man went out of his way to accommodate a partially blind tourist. His English and customer service skills are top notch. I was checked in and escorted to my room on the 14th floor. Outstanding services. The UB Grand Hotel is located within the main shopping and business area of central Ulaanbaatar. It is within walking distance to restaurants, museums and government offices. The hotel features 45 guest rooms, a conference room, Coffee Shop (on the first floor), and the Grand Square Restaurant (serving an assortment of Mongolian, European and International cuisine) located on the 17th floor. Guest room are located between the 14th and 16th floors. Room size range from 25 to 40 meters square and contain all the amenities needed. (Large comfortable bed, warm blankets, lots of towels in the bathroom, stocked mini bar, large flat screen TV and Coffee / Tea making supplies). The only negative for the room is that windows are very narrow and deep. This make it difficult to see the view and to take photos. Also my room had a pillar in the middle of it. Not a problem, just a distraction..A free continental breakfast is served on the 17th floor from 0730 to 0900 every day. Not outstanding but very much appreciated. To the staff at the UB Grand Hotel, Bayariaa (Thank you) for your outstanding services and great hotel. I definitely will be returning to your facility on my next trip to Mongolia in early 2020.

The UB Grand is a clean, conveniently located hotel in the center of UB. It is not spectacular but is comfortable and a good value. Average to small size rooms but modern. Everything works. The breakfast buffet is simple but adequate. If you are off to an early start they will prepare a box breakfast for you. Helpful staff.

I was wrong to think if I stay in a decent hotel they would shield the tourist for the con activities targeting tourist.
This hotel have staff that do not understand English. They are not able to understand when basic transports requirement to airport at specific timing.
Instead of calling meter rated taxi. They work with taxi driver to jack up the price almost double for 25usd to airport.
In mongolia, tourist need to stay with the guesthouse who are tour providers throughout to ensure they are protected from the decietful taxi drivers and hotel staff trying to take a quick gain.
This is a country with such poverty and poor tourist infrastructure that even hotel staff are there to take a cut of profit from tourist.
Madness
