Detailed Reviews
We had a wonderful time stay at this hotel.
It was a great experience traveling to Mongolia. All I can say it's heaven... if you love horseback riding. In the night you can see the pollution-free dark sky with many stars.
This is not well-Known resort but it's a peaceful place with friendly staff around.
Good place for retreat and family together.

After coming back from Lake Khovsgol, where we stayed in traditional ger, and South Gobi, where we stayed in tourist ger camp, we stayed in HS Khaan Resort Hotel at the end of our Gobi trip to get relaxed. We are satisfied with the hotel and service.
Facilities & Supplies
Bed - very comfortable
Shower & Bath - Stable hot water but I was really concerned to have a bath as the sign reminds us saving the water.
Space - Huge
Living room - Couch is good with fabulous view
Dining space - We did not use it
Hair Dryer - It will be better to provide better quality hair dryer.
iPod docking station - It did not work in our room. The manager tried to set it up but it did not work. It was not a big problem on our stay.
Internet or Wi-Fi - It will be better if we can have in-room Wi-Fi
Dining
Breakfast - We only took the breakfast. The quality is standard for this level of hotel but the course delivery was too fast. Felt pushing when having the breakfast in the relaxing morning. There were 2 flies coming. Fly killer lamp may be a solution.
Service
The manager and staff were doing great job. The manager tried to help us set up the iPod docking station and replace the cups. Highly recommended the hotel should hire another reception who can communicate in English fluently.
Location and Transportation
This hotel locates in 40km away from airport and Ulaanbaatar city center. We do not choose its offered transportation, the transportation is not easy to arrange. Not many drivers know this resort. We arranged a ride with a driver in Ulaanbaatar. No clear sign on the way to resort. We paid 80,000T one way.
We are satisfied with the hotel and service. If the hotel can do the listed improvement, it will be perfect.

Amazing rooms in well furnished luxury gers near the hsutai national park. The layout of the rooms and view from the bath overlooking the Mongolian plains is incredible. Staff are very friendly and have a high level of English and Japanese. The complimentary bottle of wine is a nice touch.
This all comes at a price though. The horse back riding is 10 times more expensive than if you were to organise it through another tour agency, making it seem severely overpriced.
The many mosquitoes in the room was a let down, considering that we have travelled for 10 days in Mongolia before arriving here, and this is the only place so far that has that many mosquitoes. One even fell into my glass of wine!
Another let down is the rooms feel a bit dusty. Not sure if it was just my imagination or actual. Having said that, I'm glad we stayed here to experience the surreal atmosphere and hotel . Given the high price, I had expected more but it is still worth a visit.

The management here refuses to let our small dog come to stay, but won't give us a reason why. You're camping in nature surrounded by animals, so why can't a small trained pug dog be in the picture? I've stayed here once without my dog and yes the Gers are luxurious and spacious, the food is great, but the prices are exorbitant. ($313 US per ger in off-season). Then you are nickel and dimed for everything else that should be included at that price; Transportation ($200 roundtrip), Horseback riding was the most expensive I've encountered in all of Mongolia (75,000T per hour instead of the standard 20,000). Wine corkage fee is 20,000(!) and inexplicably is charged per person instead of per bottle. They wanted to charge us another 80,000 for a 5 minute visit to a local family's ger, but their own driver thought it was so ridiculous that he took us there himself for free.
When you are paying absolute top dollar, you expect the management to be flexible in your basic requests, like bringing the family dog along. Instead 'it is against policy' is the only explanation. The place was completely vacant when I stayed, we were the only guests. It's obvious the management's attitudes and policies are the reason no one comes here. It's as if they are actively working to keep visitors away instead of draw them in.
We would be willing to stay here again if the management can get their act together.

After few visits over the last few years taking tourists for a stay one will realize the paradoxes it offers. While the guests are treated like kings the guide and the driver who brought them there are treated like dirt. Whilst guest ger is nice and cozy the stairs leading to the sitting area does not offer a protection for children. They can easily fall to the hard floor beneath and injure themselves. Food portion is tiny, one will not be filled. So price guests pay does not justify the tiny amount of food they receive. Staff explains it is "Japanese philosophy" of not eating to be full, but to taste it. So if you are after good hearty meal do not even think of this place! Unless you are on diet and needs a quiet place to stay at and sleep. Overall one pays too much for not very much! Best avoid it!

We arrived at the HS Khan late afternoon, after a very full day of traveling, monasteries, museums and the sort. The lobby/reception area is, though small, very welcoming and quaint. But the great, wonderful, exciting surprise arrived when we reached our ¨ger¨ (room). It was like no other ger we had been during the previous week in Mongolia. It was basically an apartment, full with kitchenette, sunken living room, cute dining table, huge jacuzzi, 2 sinks, 2 double beds, and a greg view of the plain below. Service and the food at the restaurant was also very, very good. It was wonderful.

this resort has an amazing view and is decked out beautifully and very comfortable and spacious
The hotel caters for Japanese as we believed it is owned by Japanese, the staff fell over for the Japanese and ignored us completely, food was lovely but in such small portions at very expensive prices you need a deep wallet, would I recommend. This resort probably not.

Like the previous one and only reviewer, I was a bit worried about booking at this resort because I couldn't find any information on it. I am very glad we took a chance and went ahead with the booking. The camp, restaurant, staff and views are amazing. The gers are huge with all modern conveniences and attached to each large ger is a smaller "traditional" ger. If you are looking for an authentic ger experience, this isn't it. If you are looking for a luxurious experience in an unbelievably picturesque setting, this is your place....for a price. We didn't try any of the offered outings or spa treatments, so I can't comment on those. We did eat in the restaurant and the atmosphere, service and food were excellent. I would definitely go back, and I hope the resort can survive given their high prices.

If you like to visit Mongolia, join the Naadam Festival, and wish to have a comfortable or even a luxury stay. HS Khaan Resort will be the best choice.
Every (s0-called fake) Ger has its own air conditioning system, 24hr hot water, professional butler service, and the food are relatively tasty.
I do enjoy my 3 nights stay in HS Khaan. It's an exclusive experience although its not the traditional Ger. HS Khaan Resort provides us Mongolian atmosphere with comfortable. It's definitely the highlight of our Mongolia trip!

I have never had a more enjoyable overall experience at a hotel. Every detail was taken care of, the accommodations were immaculate and the peacefulness of the location was completely relaxing. The staff were very attentive and ensured we had everything we needed for our stay. We went horseback riding across the Mongolian plain, were able to stargaze using the in-house telescope, and watch the hotel's camel as she grazed on the property. Would stay here again in a second.
