We stayed two nights here to explore the Hustai NP area and search for wildlife and archeological sites. Our tour operator, Nomadic Journeys, selected this camp to meet our request for a deluxe ger with ensuite bathroom throughout our exploration of Mongolia. This beautiful "resort" is difficult to review because it is very different from the typical ger camps available in Central and Gobi Mongolia (where we visited) for the average tourist. Given the high cost of the lodging and the restaurant, this resort is aimed at the upscale traveler who does not desire a typical Mongolia rural or pastoral experience. On that basis, the camp provides the expected experience to the upscale traveler. The double gers are beautiful, huge, well designed with areas for lounging, dining, bar, sunken living room overlooking the wonderful views, sleeping, bathing (free standing tub and separate shower stall). The resort provides car service from the ger to the restaurant or reception area because the gers are far apart as well as quite steep to access. This is not a place for the physically disabled since there are stairs everywhere even within the ger's sunken living room. The food is quite good, if you want western food for dinner at the cost of a fine dining experience comparable to any western destination. There are no other food options nearby when staying at the lodge (in fact the difficult unmarked by signage dirt roads to the lodge were a surprise after leaving the paved main road). The breakfast choice is Japanese or western and both are excellent. We returned early on the second day of our visit and asked for high tea, which is stated on their website and in room materials, only to be told that this service is not available. Service is very good, with evening turn down while at dinner, and most of the reception and wait staff speak sufficient English. The car driver had very limited English. There is no wifi in the gers, and possibly wifi in the reception area. Consistent with many other typical ger camps, our guide and driver were provided more limited accommodations and meals which seemed acceptable to them. Overall, this is a luxury experience offered by this Japanese owned resort, which is unique to Mongolia ger camps. My husband while impressed with the facilities, preferred the more rustic Three Camel Lodge in the Gobi as a "luxury" ger camp, but I enjoyed HS Khaan's ger's large wall of windows with panoramic views of the countryside during a heavy thunderstorm (typical gers don't have windows or much natural light), the marble stall shower and double sink bathroom comparable to a luxury hotel room and good (but expensive) food. If you can afford the splurge, this lodge provides a nice relief from the more rustic accommodations offered in rural Mongolia. It would be a great place to stay to watch the Naadam festival horse racing event which takes place in the valley below the resort.

I think that this place is more geared towards Japanese tourists and so I perhaps did not understand some aspects of the service or set-up. The welcome was not the most friendly and the person who showed us to the ger was rather irritable, and seemed to take objection to our questions about breakfast. He asked us whether we would like western breakfast or Japanese breakfast. When asked what the Japanese breakfast consisted of, he said he didn’t know and that we should have western breakfast. If this is the attitude, then why ask us to make a choice? The ‘ger’ was huge and was well equipped with amenities … and wine. There was an enormous bath and a nice seating area that looked out over the countryside. There were also plenty of plug sockets and a good shower. The lighting, however, was poor. I understand that ultra-efficient bulbs are needed to make the most of the solar electricity supply, but there could be one bright light to use for reading. Everything was very dim. The sheets were also damp. Again, I understand that in this environment this is going to be a problem but there are ways of dealing with the issue. And everything just seemed a bit shabby and rather dusty. The toilet is one of those-ultra complicated Japanese ones, with a heated seat (which came as a bit of a surprise in the middle of the night). The western breakfast was dismal. Our servers came around with a check-list of things that we could have. I chose coffee, some eggs and some yoghurt. The last of these never arrived.

When you just first come in ,itis very nice place.. but worst food. Let me tell you.. We had dinner there. food were bad for all taste, quality and quantity!. Food were too little good for diet.. For the price and for the place like this ..this considered below standard!. we had dinner at first night so they came and turn down our bed ,closed curtains and play music in our room but for second night we didn't have dinner there they didn't do anything at all. So if you want them to do such thing for you you have to eat their.. For breakfast limit selection and limit food. And taste just ok.

When we finally arrived at the hotel through the almost non-existing road, we were warmly greeted. The ger was huge and was basically a hotel suite. But things went south from there. The small attached ger which was like an entrance hall smelled of wet felt. The body lotion might have passed the expired date judged by the smell. The room was not well lighted, there was not a single place that you could sit and read at night. But what they needed to improve most was the food which was the worst western style meal during our 12 days' trip to the country. The portion was small. The presentation was average. The taste was not good. And it was expensive. In rural Mongolia, it was almost impossible to dine outside the lodge. In the second evening, when we did not dine there, no turn down service was provided. The service in the restaurants, for both breakfast and dinner needed improvement too. It seemed that the waiters were willing to serve, but they did not know what and how to do it right. On positive side, beautiful and very spacious room, quiet, nice view, comfortable bed, plenty of free bottle water, warm automatic toilet seat.

Beautiful "ger" with all the comforts of a 5-star hotel. Plenty of room to entertain and unwind after a day of seeing the sights. They offer in room massages as well as an in room bar. Wonderful food and a great breakfast. I only wish I could have spend another night here.

The property is interesting - seriously luxe gers by Mongolian standards. Huge and totally tricked out with soaking tubs, high end toiletries, comfortable beds, etc. they really are beautiful. Views were gorgeous. In room massages were very good. The place was almost empty the day before Nadaam, which was surprising given its location. Only 8 guests our first night! I think it just must cater to Japanese tourists as it is run by Japanese nationals. The food was to die for! Japanese dinner the first night and French the second. Multi course meals that were spectacular. Only downside was that if we wanted our lovely guide to join us for dinner, we either had to have her eat her "staff meal", or pay almost $100 USD for her to enjoy the pace and food of our dinners. Of course we were going to have her dine with us and to. It have her eat the same as we did would be rude. That's the other thing. We read some reviews about the treatment of guides and asked ours how she was treated. She never would have said anything had we not asked, but since we did, she was honest. The one young man who was a jack of all trades, serving us breakfast, dinners as well as going along with the horse ride - was kind to her. The other staff (women working the front desk) were dismissive and condescending - which really made us mad. If you are a resort catering to foreign guests, why don't you treat the local guides with the respect they deserve. We really enjoyed our stay, but this revelation left a bad taste in our mouths.

Pretentiously luxurious, very expensive, but no hot water for the double fancy bath tub on two pre-booked visits. Not representative of Mongolia. Our driver and guide were treated poorly i.e no hot water at all for them and not served the same quality of meal as us nor were they provided with any breakfast to go for our early start. This made us feel very uncomfortable. I cannot recommend it for visiting Mongolia, maybe in Las Vegas it would be nice. The staff were very helpful and nice to us though.

Incredible luxurious gers that are more like private, romantic villas. From the moment we stepped out of our car, the staff enveloped us in warmth and attention, seeing to our every need. By all means experience a real ger, then come straight here to recover. One warning—there is no wifi in the ger or dining room. It is available in the main reception room, but that doesn’t open until 8:00. Also, if you choose to wake up for the spectacular, early sunrise, bring your own instant coffee. The dining room opens at 7:00 AM.

Amazing rooms in well furnished luxury gers near the hsutai national park. The layout of the rooms and view from the bath overlooking the Mongolian plains is incredible. Staff are very friendly and have a high level of English and Japanese. The complimentary bottle of wine is a nice touch. This all comes at a price though. The horse back riding is 10 times more expensive than if you were to organise it through another tour agency, making it seem severely overpriced. The many mosquitoes in the room was a let down, considering that we have travelled for 10 days in Mongolia before arriving here, and this is the only place so far that has that many mosquitoes. One even fell into my glass of wine! Another let down is the rooms feel a bit dusty. Not sure if it was just my imagination or actual. Having said that, I'm glad we stayed here to experience the surreal atmosphere and hotel . Given the high price, I had expected more but it is still worth a visit.

After few visits over the last few years taking tourists for a stay one will realize the paradoxes it offers. While the guests are treated like kings the guide and the driver who brought them there are treated like dirt. Whilst guest ger is nice and cozy the stairs leading to the sitting area does not offer a protection for children. They can easily fall to the hard floor beneath and injure themselves. Food portion is tiny, one will not be filled. So price guests pay does not justify the tiny amount of food they receive. Staff explains it is "Japanese philosophy" of not eating to be full, but to taste it. So if you are after good hearty meal do not even think of this place! Unless you are on diet and needs a quiet place to stay at and sleep. Overall one pays too much for not very much! Best avoid it!
