So as many other reviews have stated, the rooms here are poorly ventilated and hot. But as we have learned in Mongolia, fans and AC are non-existent. So yes, it gets pretty warm in the summer unless you get a room that someone broke the window so you can get a better breeze. To be fair to them, they have a receptionist that speaks a little English, free breakfast (nothing fancy, but just fine) and clean rooms. There is also a private bathroom with a shower. Those are not givens in this country. They are not catering to picky western tourists all that much so you need to adjust your expectations. Our second night here the shower head broke off and they upgraded our room at no charge which was very nice of them. Had that happened in China where we live, the receptionist would have done nothing and we wouldn't have been able to shower. They are also about a 15 min walk from many things. Their location is pretty decent even if it seems like it's in a gritty area.

Spent 2 nights at this hotel. My first room had very poor ventilation and was hot and stuffy. No fan was provided. The safe was not working, and the kettle was rusty and mouldy inside. Requested a change of room and was moved to a bigger room which was slightly better. The staff speak limited english but are generally quite helpful though. Breakfast consists of a simple but delicious sandwich and juice every morning. Wifi was ok. Overall, I still won't recommend this hotel.

The hotel was okay but too many things went wrong while we stayed there; the staff was really unhelpfull and almost rude when we arrived, they didn't speak any english and they charged one cancelled night from me and I had very unprofessional email conversation with them before they returned the money. Location is good, breakfast okay, rooms and beds are big.

We booked 4 nights in total, before and after our Mongolia tour. The hotel was recommended online as a place frequented by business travellers in Mongolia. At 77€/night for a double bed standard room we expected an upscale hotel ideal to prep for our tour and relax after. The location is good near the center at walking distance from Chinggis Khan square. The first room was spacious, the second was a whole lot smaller.. For the same price. On both occasions the rooms were smelly and did not offer airco. Looks like carper needs some proper cleaning. The breakfast was ok but nothing special there. The TV had some English channels. What definitely annoyed me was the fact that the personnel, both before and upon our return didn't speak English. It was painstakingly difficult to even try to arrange a simpel taxi ride, let alone try something a bit more complicated. If you promote yourself as a business hotel at least make sure your personnel has some mediocre language skills.

Stayed October 2012 Stayed here for a night either side of a two night stay at the Tuul Riverside Lodge. The room was ok and big with a separate lounge to watch tv. Mongolia is kind of an unknown entity and I am sure things can be amazing to bad very very easily. The check in was a little hard as the English spoken is not so good. But that said I got my room and it was fine. The security box didn't work so I had to do different things with my money. Also that Mongolia doesn't have coins so generally you will have a massive pile of cash to carry around. The breakfast was fine, enough to keep you going until lunch. When I stayed the second time I had a very early flight back to Korea so got a lift to the airport which was fine. For the price and the location it is fine.

We were pleased with the standard of this 3 star hotel. The hotel is located in the city centre in a walkable distance to Uan Bator´s main square. The rooms are big and quiet, there is a breakfast buffet and the service is friendly. We arrived in the early morning and we got a room for having a shower until our booked rooms were ready. We would stay again at this place.

You get what you pay for. I stayed two nights. Just average. Bed was comfortable and sheets clean. Carpet needed a real good vacuum. Tap was not fitted properly in the bathroom. With the exception of two receptionists no one spoke English. Breakfast was a bit grim. First day was a very small area of cheese jam cereal, well cooked fried eggs. Tea/ coffee. Second day was very thick heavy sandwiches with a piece of salami, two slices of cucumber and a slice of tomato. I asked the receptioist what happened and dhe replied there was no chef that morning. I dont think it takes a chef to put out jam, cheese, bread and cereal at the very minimum.wifi but very weak and intermittent. Managed a few whats app but email tough going. Location is good for walking and near city center and main square.

Location is quite near the main square but up a lane way and hard to find The local taxi drivers had trouble finding it Quick check in Nice and warm which was great as I was there in -30 weather Room was nice Good bed Great free fast wifi Safe in the room Plenty hot water Flatscreen tv which was fiddly to change channels Some English channels alright However the place was totally dead I never saw another guest in three days The breakfast wasn't great and identical every day Basically fried eggs fried rice and cold potatoes Juices plus toast etc The front staff were no use in getting anything you need No other facilities or services of any kind in the hotel They take visa Not recommended I suggest you stay in the nearby springs hotel or the peace bridge hotel if a solo traveler

The Kaiser is within 15 minutes walk to the main shopping plaza with several restaurants along the way. Although the distance is < 10 miles from the airport, plan on 45 minutes each way as the traffic is heavy all times of the day. Seems that the road infrastructure hasn't kept up with the building boom in the city! The hotel was accommodating and the room was surprisingly large and clean. Two adults and a child had plenty of room even with large luggage. Didn't use the minibar but it was stocked with beverages and snacks. There is a restaurant connected on the first floor which served a buffet breakfast. It was fine for us with juices, coffee, eggs, toast and assorted yogurts and danishes. During the evening, the restaurant is open for dinner but we didn't try it; they do have a bar if you want to grab a nightcap before going to your room. We arranged a car to/from the airport, which i bleleive was ~20 USD. For our departure morning, the desk clerk told me she added someone to our van to the airport which was already pretty tight. We all sqeezed in but surprisingly, it still cost the same amount. Not a big deal, just be prepared as this seems common. We stayed in 2 different rooms at this hotel for one night each on both sides of our journey to Western Mongolia. The first night, we stayed in a room on the 2nd floor (off the staircase walk forward) but can't remember the number. This room was not as good as the 2nd room and they were both the same price. The larger, nicer room is at the top of the stairs, on the left (203 maybe). The setup and overall room were much better. Reception/desk clerk was helpful with directions and a map. I'd definately stay here if ever in UB again. The Blue Sky Hotel is probalby the most convenient as it's directly on the main road (sidewalks everywhere so no problem) but is ridiculously expensive. Safe Travels!

The location is good, south east of the city centre. We walked around for 3 days and were fine. The food in the restaurant was good (although too much fat on the meat which we found other places also) and very reasonably priced. Breakfast was good and had fresh apples and oranges not seen at many places we travelled for 3 weeks in Mongolia. The front office staff was friendly and with only 16 rooms we felt known by the staff and felt safe. We should have had 2 bottles of water in our room each day to drink but the cleaning staff never provided it on any of the 6 nights we stayed. I gave them gifts and asked to please make sure each day we had water. No day did we get it, so I went to reception to ask and they provided it. The last night before we checked out someone snooped through my backpack. My suitcase was locked, but my backpack was not and it clearly had been gone through and was not left as I had it. I told reception and she said she would tell the manager. I don't know what they were looking for, but the camera and medical supplies I had in the case was still there so it was not what they wanted. I'm happy nothing was stolen, but not happy someone looked through it, especially when I had given gifts to the two cleaning women. Another friend on our tour had her ipad and a credit card stolen from her backpack at a store, so perhaps that is the kind of thing they were looking for. She was told that in Mongolia an ipad is worth $200.00 for the parts.
