It's an ok place, it's clean, bathroom all works fine, and in a great location for the centre of town. Its a bit past it's prime, it has a kind of retro soviet feel to it which is actually kind of fun in an odd way. Our tour started here.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. It's not bad at all, it's just a bit dated.

Guide hotel is basic but very clean, generally has hot water for showers. Reception staff have limited English, are friendly and help as much as they can. There is a bank to exchange money and a supermarket easily accessible in the next street. Hotel is quiet. Breakfast is good. I would stay there again.

Dear Guest, Thank you for staying with us & sharing your thoughts. It seems like you stayed here during hot water limitation due to annual city maintenance. Now it's finished and we have hot water all the time. Unfortunately I can't see your name but thank you so much again. Please do come back as you said :) Kind regards, Odgarav

This is a straightforward hotel that is nevertheless very clean and well appointed where it matters. Bedding is crisp and comfortable, bathrooms have all that one wants and the staff are responsive, friendly and helpful. Breakfasts are a decent buffet. Overall I was pleased, felt very safe and found the proximity to the city center very convenient.

I'm giving it three stars by a Western standard but for UB its surely a 4 star hotel. Its tucked away on a hidden road behind a high street, you enter through an archway in the block of buildings off that main street (Taga Toiruu), across from Namaste Restaurant, and its immediately on your left once you're through the passage way. Staff spoke very workable English and were honest and helpful. The room I had was as per the title. Very very clean, a rock hard bed as per the Chinese standard (which I like), and a much nicer bathroom than I expected based on the location. A number of grocery stores, pharmacies, shops, and pubs are all within 1-3 blocks away. Try the Kings Crown Pub on Surguuli Street, just half a block away, when you get tired of Mongolian or Korean food. Downtown, Sukbaatar Square and the main shopping street are a 10-minute walk.

It comes with breakfast, and the staff offered to make me a takeaway bag when I told them I had a 5AM taxi booked. Very helpful indeed. No issues at checkout or with safety. Would stay here again.

Tucked away in a not very prepossessing location this hotel is supposed to be only ten years old. The Mongolian staff spoke no English and whilst friendly were clearly very inexperienced and untrained. The door to the first room we were given didn't seem to open or close properly, some lights didn't work. We'd still have been left there with a shrug and a smile of the owner's French husband hadn't taken charge. Everything worked ok in our final room but it wasn't exactly the cleanest. No airconditioning either, no lift. Breakfast was delicious (French husband is the chef).

I stayed at the Guide Hotel for 3 nights in total to join a group of travellers booked on a Intrepid Travel trip. I arrived a day in advance of the group first meeting and tried to book an extra night/room at the Guide Hotel. Unfortunately the hotel had no availability due to me leaving it too late to reserve.

I searched on booking.com for a room near to the Guide Hotel, booked and printed off confirmation of my booking and map for taxi driver. I arrived in Mongolia at 6am, after 3 flights, to discover my luggage was lost. The next incident was being stuck with a taxi driver and his friend trying to find the Titem Hotel, which it turned out does not exist.

A very long story short.

With no luggage and no hotel room I thought it best to report to the Guide Hotel a day earlier before the tour started. The staff where very concerned, I was somewhat stressed at this stage. The staff spent over an hour helping try to call the booking number with no luck. They also called our tour guide and various to help locate my lost luggage. Followed by call around various hotels helping to find me somewhere to stay for the night. Whilst all this was taking place I was offered breakfast. I declined, however a member of staff bought me a coffee, fruit and cakes from the breakfast room. Even though I was not staying the night they went out of their way to help me. I continued to witness their customer care and high standard of quality. They all showed pride and care in their roles. Truly top class people who go way above the call of duty to assist visitors to the hotel/Mongolia. All staff were wonderful and I would like to use this opportunity to pass on my appreciation and thanks for all their help. In particular thanks to Odgarav and Khaliun, who made what started to be a bad trip, to welcoming me to their beautiful country.

In addition to the above. The hotel is located reasonably near in walking distance to the Chinggis square. Offers good food but also local to alternative good food spots. Is clean, tidy and has affordable rates. All this with extremely helpful and friendly staff. Excellent stay! Thanks again to the wonderful two ladies when I first arrived, and to all staff who continued to provide excellent service.

This is my first time in Mongolia and I am grateful for previous reviews of this hotel. It is very clean, management is very friendly, and the restaurant is good. There are improvements being made to the exterior and the rooms are in very good condition. No complaints except the low clearance on the entry door (banged my head twice). Shouldn't be a problem for people under 6'4", but 6'5" beware!

I agree that I don't know why this is only 2 star hotel! The hotel is in great position, but quiet, it only took us 15 minutes to walk to Ghinggis square and the fantastic Blue sky tower, 20 mins walk to the Beatles square, 5 minutes walk to a large shopping mall and the Modern Nomads restuarant which is well worth trying for good local and western type food....There are so many restaurants around selling every type of cuisine you could ask for as well as small shops...The Staff do have limited English but the Manager is fantastic and speaks very good English, she was so helpful and either came or was on the phone to help us any time day or night.. the breakfast was limited but the staff cooked extra eggs for us and we were very satisfied with the freshness and quality, the room was large and very warm and had TV good shower and was kept very clean, The beds were comfortable, there is a fridge in the room, we stayed here twice and would highly recommend Guide hotel.

I had a great time at the Guide Hotel. As others have commented, the front desk staff is not very proficient at English, but they try very hard and I had no trouble communicating my needs. Ogi, the manager, speaks great English and was amazing. She got a space heater delivered to my room one cold night because the central heating had yet to be turned on (have to wait for October). And she cleared up a billing issue that arose when the cashier said the credit card reader had not accepted my card, when it had, and I ended up paying in cash as well -- she got the credit card charge reversed, keeping my apprised over email as to the status of the progress. Really wonderful.

Breakfast was actually quite good. And the place is very quiet. I had hot water the entire time I was there and several TV channels in English. The inside of the rooms is quite nice. The only downside is that the hotel doesn't look very pleasant from outside and it is kind of hidden behind other buildings, but that didn't bother me.

There is an amazing Indian restaurant across the street.

I would definitely recommend the hotel to others.
