Good food and reasonable price (we were on a budget). And since I had only Euros, there wasn't a problem to pay in them and also their excange into...

Have stayed here several times alone and with friends when visiting Istanbul and have found it to just grow from strength to strength. The rooms are very comfortable and freshly cleaned every day even if I've said not to worry. A jacuzzi bubble bath after a long day shopping is the best treat ever!!!. The staff have always been very...

I stayed here with a friend for two nights at the beginning of April and we loved this place! The staff was friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, wifi was strong, breakfast was delicious and the bar/restaurant downstairs was a great place to relax and enjoy a drink. Would definitely stay here again!

We stayed at the optimist hotel for 10 days and I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff are terrible and definitely not welcoming. They tried to get us to pay more eventjough we had a print out of the price because 'the euro rate changes' The room only got tidied twice and never cleaned the breakfast was...

I had the top room with the view of Blue Mosque and Aya Sofia. Bed is very comfortable, shower pressure good, rooms are cleaned everyday to a...

The location is excellent, situated in the heart of the tourist attractions of the old town with easy access to transport links to the rest of the city. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and spoke good English. The hotel is small with just four rooms, but each is very comfortable, with good Wi-Fi access. If you can book the...

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for a six day visit to Istanbul in March. The hotel is small with just four rooms, one on each floor. We stayed in the 'terrace room' on the top floor. The stairs to this room are a bit of a challenge, but the views are worth it - simply amazing! The...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
