Helpful and friendly staff. In an excellent quiet location just a short walk from major sites including the Blue Mosque. Plenty of good restaurants within a short walk. Good breakfast and clean comfortable room.

We booked through BA so we did get an amazing deal. However, room rates are £150 for a double per night and we stayed in a basement room with damp on ceiling! Breakfast was truly continental but was fine to eat. On our second day there the bathroom flooded and we were without water. So no showers. Staff are incredibly...

This may not be a fancy 5 star palace but it has to be one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. The staff are super helpful and friendly, it is clean and perfectly placed for exploring old Istanbul. Our only complaint would be that the bathroom was a bit poky but the rest made up for that easily....

After a thorough search for hotels in the old city, my husband and I decided to stay for 6 nights at this beautiful old hotel . It was my husband's second visit to Turkey and my first, so we wanted something really close to the historic area. Its location is superb. Just one block from Sultanahmet square (very close to...

I very much enjoyed my stay at the Sultan House Hotel. Initially when we arrived we were welcomed by the hotel employees in a very kind and caring way. We were served tea and desserts as soon as we walked in. When they checked our reservation they realized one of the rooms we booked was unavailable so they immediately offered...

Our three-day stay at the Sultan House was great. It was a very homey, cozy, local option with a small staff, so a very personal touch. Rooms are basic, so don't expect the Ritz Carlton, but they were clean and had everything we needed. If you aren't interested in spending a lot, stay here for sure. The location was excellent—walking...

This hotel was perfect for our first time in Istanbul; amazing location to many mosques, museums, bazaars , tram and many other local amenities. The hotel felt homely and the standard room was bright, clean and spacious. Services were also great including a great breakfast buffet and airport shuttle service both ways which was fantastic and stress free!! The staff...

They upgraded us to a deluxe room for free. Very courteous and considerate. In a great location too. They also offer airport shuttles (you have to pay for them) to and from both the regional turkey airports.

An excellent location, close to the Blue Mosque and within walking distance of most central attractions and the tram line. Good breakfast and many excellent restaurants nearby. Bed a bit firm for my liking.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
