This hostel had some pros, some cons. The hostel is very well located, about a 5 minute walk to the main sites (the directions to the hostel are a bit confusing though). The free breakfast is good (fried egg, tomato, little cold meat, cucumber, cheese, bread, spreads). However, we were in a double private room in the basement and it...

My boyfriend and I stayed at Piya Hostel in July 2014, and cannot recommend this place more wholeheartedly. It is in a great location in Istanbul, a few minutes walk from Sultanahmet square and tram lines, and was very secure and clean. They offer a great free breakfast in the morning, and brought us up a fan after checking in...

This is the first place where I stayed in Turkey and I must say that this was exactly what I searched for beginning of my trip. Hostel is located at old Sultanahmet area very close to all historical attractions but still spot in little bit hidden street which is not full of tourists. Place is pretty quiet with a great...

good place for location as only a 5 minute walk to blue Mosque and palace and other main Sultanamet sites and eateries. We are budget travellers and found Istanbul to be expensive overall compared to our other travelling accommodation for this standard, but about the cheapest in Istanbul for what you get. We stayed in a shared bathroom, private double...

We stayed here in early July and it was wonderful. Our host was most accommodating and the breakfasts every morning were more than plentiful. We highly recommend this place to backpackers. Clean and central to blue mosque and Grand Bazaar etc.

I stayed at the Piya hostel with a friend and it was perfect for us two twenty year old girls backpacking through Turkey. It's in a great location by the main sights in Sultahnamet (blue mosque and aya Sofia) and is very clean and comfortable. The breakfast is very filling and traditionally Turkish, and the hostel owners are extremely friendly...

This is a very good hostel at a very reasonable price! The most of all, I enjoyed the fact that I can get to Hagia Sophia in less then 5 minutes, on foot! The rooms are clean and the service is good. I stayed with two friends, in a 3-bed room and we shared bathroom with only one room, next...

We arrived from another hostel and were pleasantly surprised. Although it is in the centre of Sultanahmet the street is quiet at night and nice during daytime with chatting neighbors and laundry hanging from balconies. We stayed in a 4-bed dorm with 2 comfortable bunk beds. Dorms are cleaned every day. Lockers are available but you need to bring your...

This place is real. Its almost unbelievable bit it's true. It's so close to everything worth being close to in Istanbul, museums the grand bazaar public transport the works. Location aside Huseyin was very helpful with instructions on the nest places to go and a map to Istanbul that I would have died without. Thanks Huseyin. Although the English of...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
