We stayed at the Sultan during a 5 day layover on the way home. We enjoyed the Sultan as it is located on a quiet street just blocks from restaurants, the Blue Mosque, Grand Bazar and Topkapi Palace Museum to name a few. Our room was spotless, the bed very comfortable and clean towels every day. Breakfast buffet was good and dinner a wide variety of choices.

The hotel was quite OK. Old building from early 1900s. The room however was too simplistic despite of the interior outside of the room. Location-wise, it was very close to main attraction around Blue Mosque, Topkapi Museum, and Hagia Sofia. All within comfortable walking distance. Breakfast was a shame. Not good at all, in term of taste and variety

From the moment I walked into the reception, moving from another hotel just a few doors away, felt the negative vibes and the need to be on-guard. Like dealing and bargaining, and protecting your wallet from the scammers that try to get to it. Asked for a double room and they “nickel and dime” everything, at the end got me a room that was kinda what I was looking for for the price. A double room, single bed, upper floor with a view. They denied me the six olives and the slice of bread and tomato (breakfast) unless I was to come out with another $20 and at the end I told them I don’t want the breakfast. The day I moved in from my previous hotel, where everybody was soo nice, they took me to the first floor and gave me a “double room” the size of a closet with no window, when we have agreed to a room in an upper floor with a “french balcony” I asked for my money back and left that nasty hotel with way less than nice and cordial people. A real hassle. You don’t want to stay there.

Location is superb, not too busy but very close to the most famous sites of the city and transport links. Hotel limited but comfortable and I felt the security was good. More at the level of safe hostel than hotel in quality but suited me perfectly. If spending long days outside and just need someone safe to return to, this is perfect. I don't think you would want to take breakfast here or spend much time in the room. May be dull for some people. Only issue may be sound, you can hear the tv in the next room etc. but that's fine for a short city break.

Originally booked a sea view. Arrived and was given a Blue Mosque view and was it a view! With the Blue Mosque Directly in front of our balcony. Amazing. The hotel is very beautiful if a little dated. The room had its own Hammam. No lift but porter brought baggage to room. Tea and coffee making facilities, bottled water and TV. Premises was spotless. Breakfast on terrace overlooked Bosporous with plenty of options. Drinks expensive but this is Istanbul. Very helpful and friendly reception staff. Highly recommended.

Simple hotel, clean and correct offering a perfect location to visit the old part of Istanbul (10mn walking distance for Aya Sofia, grand bazaar, ect) and a nice view from the terrasse on the Sokollu Mehmet Pacha mosquee. The hotel is located in a popular but charming and safe neighborhood, with many restaurants choices around. It is excentred from the tourists flows, which is another advantage. It is well kept, quiet, clean, the rooms prices were a good deal and the other guests of the hotels were correct as well. The staff was kind and helpful. Even if they don't speak English, you easily manage to communicate. In addition, it offers transport shuttle for a very good bargain. I was positively surprised and overall I extended my stay , staying here more than 5 nights. it was perfect for what I was looking for, and I was more glad to enjoy a good deal with a clean, simple room rather than staying in a fashionable and more expensive hotel. Keep going on like this, I will come back.

Location: It's close to all of the historical sites of Sultanahmet and tons of places to eat. You will hear people talking outside though sometimes until 1am in the night. It's a tight street, so not the easiest to drive in either. You are also VERY close to a Mosque, so if you are the type that gets annoyed at the call to prayer, be wary of that as you will hear it 5 times daily/nightly. Room: You get what you pay for. It's a pretty small hotel but each room does the trick. You have a bed, wardrobe, small fridge, shower, AC, TV, sink, toilet and window (depending on your room, some are clearly smaller than others). It's not a huge room but it is perfectly fine for at least 1 person. Staff: The staff don't speak the best English, but do enough to get by. Nice enough people for the most part. They assisted with helping me print off my travel documents and weighing my luggage. They aren't the most talkative but personally I don't mind that. Room cleanliness: The cleaner is in every day, replacing towels and cleaning whatever has to be cleaned up. Cannot fault this at all. Breakfast: Never tried it. Can't comment. I think one of the workers said it is 20TL though...I may have overheard them talking to someone. All in all, if you are looking for a budget hotel which has all of the main necessities, is clean and is located very conveniently to a lot of the historical sites, hustle and bustle of Sultanahmet during the day and in between Camberlitas/Sultanahmet tram stops I DEFINITELY recommend it. If you are looking for an upmarket hotel, where you expect to be pampered a bit and you hate any noise when you are in the hotel I would say stay clear from here.
