Portus house feels like a cosy little place. They have some rooms that are hostel-like (with shared bathroom etc), however we stayed in the normal room w attached bathroom and our stay was perfect. Room was clean and cosy. They have a little pantry area where they serve breakfast and snacks all day and where you can just hang out....

Superb location with very reasonable prices and excellent, attentive staff. It is a small hotel with high standards, very nicely decorated rooms and immaculately clean. As it has steep stairs and no elevator, like many hotels in Amsterdam, if you have much luggage request a room on the first or second floors. Some rooms have private bathrooms and in some...

We felt at our home and the housekeeping lady cleaned our rooms everyday. She was always smiling and seems to love her work. The hotel is located very central and easy to reach all sightseeings and public transport. Around the hotel you will find the local restaurants and bars. Friday and Saturday, get ready for street parties till early mornings....

When we arrived at Portus House Istanbul there was no one there to check us in. They had forgot about our reservation. But fortunately they let us stay at a really nice nearby hotel. That was a good way to fix things. The next day we could check in to our room at Portus House, it was a clean, basic,...

Within walking distance of ferry, Galata Bridge, Galata Tower, small restaurants and Museum of Modern Art, Portus House offers clean, modern accommodation. Breakfast is simple (help yourself to ready-made sandwiches, fruit and tea/coffee) and the rooms are small but well-laid out. Hair dryers, towels, good linen and reading lamps in all rooms. Staff speaks excellent English - Lutfi is great?...

Staying in Karakoy

Neighbourhood Profile
Karakoy
Sitting pretty with an age-old air about it, Karakoy is situated on the European side of the Bosphorus at the mouth of the Golden Horn. Perhaps the city’s most historically significant area, it’s currently one of the most happening parts of town as well. Here street vendors and alfresco fish restaurants line the banks of the Horn where the views of major attractions across the water rival Karakoy’s own key attractions, such as the iconic 14th century Galata Tower and the Museum of Modern Art. A major hub for local and international waterborne traffic, Istanbul’s commercial and maritime heritage remains as relevant and evident as ever in Karakoy. Commuter ferries mingle with luxury cruise liners at its busy port, ensuring a continuously cosmopolitan flow of people..
