This hotel is in an excellent location,a hop, skip, and jump from all of the historical monuments on the European side of the Bosphorus, public transport hubs and the Galata bridge. The rooms are very clean and the complimentary breakfast is very satisfying. What sets Tayahatun apart is their friendly staff who go above and beyond to help you and...

We just stayed at this hotel for 4 days and it was amazing time in Istanbul. Also hotel was great and in a good location and staffs were so nice and friendly in any case. If you want to stay at the hearth of Sultanahmet in an economic way this hotel is good for you.

The location of this hotel is great. It is located close to the Blue Mosque and the Tokapi Palace. The night manager was great and very friendly. The rooms are very small and maybe in need of a makeover, it is however clean and serviced every day.

So upfront I have to say the service here was great. The staff are lovely and extremely helpful. It's two blocks from Gulhane tram station and about 10 minutes to the Blue Mosque. So location is good BUT I wouldn't recommend this to solo female travelers - nothing against this hotel but hotels in general down side streets in Sultanahmet. I...

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in August and thoroughly enjoyed the warmth and friendliness of all the staff here. Mr Onur (the Manager) and Mr Mehmet (the owner) had been extremely helpful in providing information about Istanbul. The hotel is clean, very convenient, close to all the great sites like Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace,...

Four words summarize our high satisfaction with this hotel: location, Jacuzzi, breakfast buffet and value. Thee trick in Istanbul, we were told, is to book close to the tramway line. This spotless little hotel is a 5 minutes walk from the Tram, and a brisk 10 minutes walk from Sophia Hagia. In other words, close to the action but just...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
