We spent lovely 8 days in hotel Kumru in October 2012. The hotel is easily accesible by public transport right from the airport (ca. 45 min. trip) and located right in the heart of the Sultanahment historic district. That makes all the key city landmarks...More
When arriving in a new city one should always be met by the people from the Kumru Hotel. Efficient, friendly, articulate and very welcoming. One is quickly introduced to a spacious room with color and light. Melissa and Abdul, the owners of this year old...More

Other reviewers have covered it, but let me add my kudos to Kumru's owners. This new boutique hotel is so clean and cute and perfectly located that you can't go wrong staying here. Great breakfast spread, great people working there. Go and enjoy Istanbul!
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to
retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
