We visited Istanbul in winter so we needed a cosy hotel to recover from long days spent walking around. I'm very happy to say that the hotel was absolutely lovely.
We landed quite early in the morning and from the beginning, we were accommodated very...More
Spent 4 nights at this superbly located hotel which is in within walking distance to the major highlights of Istanbul.
Very ottoman "oldy worldly" style. Friendly staff and when we arrived we were advised about a Fish Restaurant. We were picked up to and from...More
I stayed at Arena Hotel during low season for tourism. I loved it. The hotel feels very much like a home, not a hotel. The rooms are comfortable and lovely. The daily breakfast is an incredible spread of fresh and homemade Turkish dishes. I ate...More
I visited Istanbul for the first time with my parents and sibling for 6 nights and from our arrival to our departure all the staff delivered beyond exceptional service, less them 10 minutes walk from "Blue Mosque" clean and tidy hotel with amazing sea view...More
Recently took a visit to istanbul and after a lot of searching we selected Arena Hotel. It was a great choice. In my experience wherever you go you face some problems, but what matters is that is the staff supportive and helps you through those...More

With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to
retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.

Swimming pools do not seem to be high on the list of facilities in the sultanamet area, I only saw one on the roof of an up-market hotel. This property prides itself on being OLD, I don't doubt that it is on the site of the old family property but the info in the lobby states that a lot of work was done and it would appear to be a major reconstruction. But there is no space for a pool, the "garden" is a courtyard - with tables and chairs.
One good thing which I failed to mention in my review, our room had a comprehensive adaptor plug in the bedside table so one could plug in and charge without searching for a suitable adaptor.
