After reading may reviews and extensive research we chose the Armada Hotel. It was the perfect choice for us. Great location, great staff, great hotel. The breakfasts were substantial and the views from the terrace breathtaking!

I spent a week-end in this hotel in August 2011; I had chosen it because of its location in the historical center of the city and also the traditional interior architecture. I wasn't disappointed, as the hotel is not far from the Aya Sofia and the interior decorations of the lobby and the rooms are very nice, reminding of old...

Location Is near to historical places, and very near to the sea. However, it is far away from pulblic transportation (bus, tram). Also you need to clime up the tiny roads to reach to blue mosque and aya sofia, needs taxi to reach other attarction like grand bazar and so on... Hotel breakfast is great, furniture not quite modern, upper...

Stayed here for 3 nights with a friend. It was our first time to Istanbul. The Armada is centrally located in Sultanahmet and is close to everything! The breakfasts are worth skipping dinner for (except food in Istanbul is too delicious!) Super comfortable beds and great showers. Makes all the difference :)

Stayed at the Armada as part of a tour, good location, close to Sultanhamet Square. - have to be somewhat careful in neighborhood at night. Rooms were very clean and charming, rooftop has excellent views of the City, Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, nice to have drinks served on the roof top. Great breakfast buffet.

The service received at Armada was very very good, reception was helpful and very friendly. Breakfast buffet offered a huge variety of food and you got to have breakfast on the terrace restaurant over looking the sea, which was a truly amazing start to your day. In the evening you can enjoy a meal at the restaurant, reasonably priced again...

This hotel is a treasure. Charming Turkish style and the rooftop terrace for meals is just unbeatable. The breafast buffet is oustanding but that does not begin to tell you what you are in store for. Directly to the back is the stunning Blue Mosque, to right the Hagia Sophia and in front views of the Sea of Marmara. I...

I really liked this hotel, it was very clean and the staff was very helpful. The rooms were a nice size. If you are looking for night life, I would NOT recommend this hotel, as it is in a quieter area of Istanbul. The location is very good if you want to be in close proximity to the Blue Mosque...

Very helpful and polite staff. Very nice decoration and furnitures, making you feel like in 1920's, but very well maintained. Especially the fragrance at the reception lobby will take you there. Very nice terrace with great view both ways, Bosporus entrance and Agia Sophia/Blue mosque. At walking distance from the majority of the Istanbul site seeings. Great variety in breakfast...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
