My friends (total 3 of us, all women) and I stayed at this place for 4 nights. The hotel is VERY well located, in Sultan Ahmet area, walking distance to the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia, even closer to Topkapi Palace. We walked through the area at all times and never had any issues with safety. The hotel staff was...

We have recently returned from Istanbul where we stayed at the Hotel Alp Guesthouse. We were delighted with the location as we could walk to the major sites in the Sultanahmet area. We would particularly like to thank the staff who were most helpful when we left behind a pair of sandals. They parcelled them up and forwarded them to...

The newly refurbished Hotel Alp is a haven of peace and comfort in the midst of the major Istanbul sites of the Blue Mosque, Aya Sophia and Topkapi Palace. It's located on a side street, just steps to the main dining and shopping street (the Four Seasons Hotel is on the other end of the side street, 2 blocks away)....

Very pleasant stay although room was small and no view. Newish bathrooms shower worked very well. Top attraction here is roof terrace where breakfast is served and you can use it the rest of the time to take your own drinks, read, smoke. CCTV everywhere makes this a safe place to stay. Very nice staff, Mustafa who spoke perfect English...

This was my second stay at the Alp hotel and it was just as wonderful as the first. They are located within a 10 min walk of the main attractions, Hagia Sophia, Cistern, and the palace. They were also very reasonably priced. On our second trip the staff was incredibly helpful in arranging tours, reservations, and even stayed late to...

I stayed at Hotel Alp for 5 nights. A perfect base for exploring. Breakfast buffet is delicious and greatly appreciate BEAUTIFUL rooftop courtyard. I also appreciate that they provided access to filtered drinking water throughout your stay at no additional cost. I visited during a hot time of the year and this was a huge help. I would fill up...

I stayed at the Hotel Alp last year for three nights and will do so again this year. If you are budget-conscious it's a fabulous option. Located in the heart of Sultanahmet, it is a short walk to all the main attractions (Hagia Sofia, Topkapi Palace, Basilica Cistern, Blue Mosque etc) and just a little longer to the Grand Bazaar....

In the equation price/ quality this hotel is a total winner. It’s located very centrally (7’ walk to Hagia Sophia, same sort of distances to Topkapi palace, Blue Mosque etc). Clean, comfortable rooms serviced daily. The staff speaks very good English and knows the city well – we got good tips as to where to go, prices, what times etc....

We stayed here twice during April - for 4 nights at the beginning of the month & 2 nights towards the end of the month. We left luggage at the hotel while we travelled through Turkey. we were made very welcome during our entire stay at The Alp & on our return we were greeted like old friends. All the...

The hotel is located in one of the most touristic areas of Istanbul, a short walk to the Blue Mosque, and lots of restaurants one or two blocks away. The staff was very friendly and always very helpful. The room is quite small, but clean, with internet and TV (even though no channels in English). The breakfast is fairly ok,...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.

“From the window of room 404 you can see the top of Hagia Sophia over the neighboring buildings. The floors are wooden, so upper levels can be quieter if you prefer not to hear people walking around.”
