The hotel Alp has a truly helpful and personable staff. Erman and both Mustafas are great fellows, fun to talk to, and just good to be around. This hotel has an absolute lack of pretense. The rooms are clean, the beds very comfortable, showers have good pressure and its good to have a little refrigerator in the room. We stayed...

.Great location, a quiet guest house in the best part of Istanbul. Staff are very friendly and can speak English. They were very accommodating in helping to solve our travel problems and odd information requests. Block out curtains provide for dark rooms. Rooms have fridge and no extra payment air cons. Great upstairs views and the best breakfast we experienced...

Have recently returned from 2 weeks in Turkey and stayed at The Alp in Istanbul for 4 nights. The rooms are large and the bed comfortable. There is free WIFI available in your room. Breakfast was great and the views from the terrance are stunning. Mustafa was a great help. As this is a traditional house with wood floors it...

Service friendly helpful and effiicient. Relaxed atmosphere. Good turkish breakfast, plus cereals, available till 11 am for late risers. Hungry teenagers can fill up. For the inexpensive price, the rooms, and the en suite showers here are a good size, and cleaned every day.. We had a fantastic holiday in Istanbul and staying at this hotel definitely contributed to that....

Pros: prime location, right near the restaurants, cafes, and major sites in the Old Quarter, clean rooms, rooftop dining for breakfast with good views of the Bosphorus. There were no downsides to the hotel but no memorable upsides other than the location -- that's why I would recommend it as a solid, no frills choice in the Old Quarter but...

After many hours of searching I came upon the The Alp and it was what I was seeking. Quaint, simple, in a good location. Not over decorated or plush. The Alp has a fresh peaceful style and allows the original architecture to shine. From the easy pick up at the airport to check in and unwinding after a long journey,...

PERFECT LOCATION: Recommended to everyone who visits Istanbul for the first time and has all the Sultanahmet historical sights in mind. Located on the quiet street in the heart of Sultanahmet. Take tram and tunel and in 20 min you will be in Beyoglu (Isticlal cadesi for shopping and nice cafes) or take tram and ferry and in 30 min...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
