Wish my friend and I had planned to stay longer in this incredible city! Can't wait to go back! Marmara was the best in every way- kind/accommodating service, super clean rooms, white, cozy down comforters with great mattresses, delicious breakfast buffet on a terrace overlooking the Bosphorus, walkable to the incredible mosques, palace, grand bazaar etc.!

I love this hotel, so friendly and save; very clean and calm. I spent 5 nights there. I enjoyed the privacy this place offers in the middle of the tourist area. However, breakfast is nothing to write home about. This family runs a travel agency. I booked a 7 day tour in Turkey, with them. I learned so much, they...

My brother and I found Marmara Guesthouse as Istanbul's top rated budget guesthouse from Lonely Planet, so we had high expectations. I'm pleased to say that our expectations were exceeded! The staff were so friendly and willing to help us get settled, and were happy to recommend local places to eat and things to see. A highlight of Marmara Guesthouse...

Mamara GH is in an excellent location near the historic sights of Istanbul and has a view over the sea of Mamara. Staff working here are extremely helpful and kind- especially yagmur, who gave me helpful advice re. Public transport. The room has mod cons one might expect - room was heated, shower was hot, the wifi worked and the...

I was here a couple of days in november and so loved it. I travelled around Turkey but never had been to Istanbul before, a bit afraid of 'kalabalık' (Crowded) But Marmara Guesthouse is in a kind of blind alley in the Sultan Ahmet area. So it was quiet peacefully. I am pretty spoilt when it comes to Turkish breakfast...

Such a great little place. Comfortable rooms, lovely and helpful staff, as well as a yummy breakfast served on a terrace with a gorgeous view!!! Rooms are basic but properly fitted out and so comfortable. Some steep stairs, but you can manage it... there are rooms on the lower floors if this is an issue. Excellent location for sightseeing, particularly...

Excellent location within 5 minutes walk of the "Blue" mosque. Our room was very clean and tastefully decorated, the bed was comfortable, shower and toilet clean with reliable hot water. The room was of a good size with adequate storage space and a safe to store valuables. Extremely good value with a good breakfast included in the cost. Would not...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
