I enjoyed my stay at The Tulip Guesthouse. The hospitality was excellent, very friendly ambience, great views from rooftop & good breakfasts. The dorm was crammed with beds and the bathroom was shared between 12 people, and not necessarily that clean. Highly recommended if you can afford your own ensuite room.

After a two week cruise on a liner staying at this place was quite a shock. Different age group, different kind of travellers and, this is the best part, really personable and fun people who run the place. I loved it and I felt quickly at home. This is one of the better hostels I have stayed in and I...

We stayed at the Tulip for a few nights in May. The place was very cute and charming. Mahmet and Motin at the front desk were friendly and very relaxed. We stayed in two different rooms because we spent an in between night in Cannakale. They were both clean with very comfortable beds and each with it's own bathroom. The...

The guys that run this hostel our awesome. However the rooms are not. We had a double room with ensuite. The shower, toilet and sink are all in one area with no shower curtain so everything gets wet. We also found that the drain in the bathroom did not work very well so after a shower the floor stayed wet...

We have travelled the last 2 months throughout Europe, the Med, and Western Asia. Of all the hotels, bed& breakfasts, and backpackers we stayed during our travels, the Tulip rated the highest. We stayed at the Tulip Guesthouse for 4 nights, and the our expectations were exceeded on all aspects - great location, safe and very clean, hospitality second to...

Friendly and personable...ready to help out and just make the stay special. The reception was so warm, in spite of the fact that we (my friend and I) arrived, unannounced, around midnight. We were told that we would be given a room at Tulip...or, that other arrangements would be made for us elsewhere ( by phone)if a room could not...

Before leaving for Istanbul, I had a really good contact with Mehmet who always gave me any information I needed. In fact, he's really friendly, as Ennes we met at our arrival !!! The guestroom is very well located, in Sultanhamet, an historical area, next to Sainte Sophie, Topkapi Palace and Blue Mosque. The area is quiet and there are...

We kicked off our European travelling trip in this lovely little guesthouse. It was literally 5 min walk from the blue mosque so a great base from which to explore Istanbul. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. The staff we're great too and breakfast was delicious.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
