This place is in a perfect location just 5 min walk to blue mosque or seaside. The neighborhood is a mix of locals and tourists. There is a shop right across the street to get all basic food as fresh bread each morning. You can have breakfast in the lovely we'll maintained garden! The apartments are fully equipped with everything... More

A friend and me used this apartment for a few nights after touring the Gallipoli peninsula. We had expected to be the sole users of the apartment but it turned out that the other bedrooms were occupied by other groups with access to the communal areas. This did not bother us too much as we hardly spent anytime there apart... More

Rented a room with nedim, it was clean and centrally located. No frills and nothing fancy, but the wi-fi worked, and I was located a five minute walk from the tourism center of istanbul. Nedim lives nearby and is easy to contact.

I stayed at Nedim's second establishment, a bit further east, at 5 Yeni Sarachane Sok. (opposite Hotel Emre, near the Four Seasons Hotel). It was a room in house, tucked away but handily placed, just down from Ayasofiya and the Blue Mosque, and round the corner from a lively street of restaurants, Akbıyık Cd. Shared basic cooking facilities and fridge... More

It's advertised as an 'apart-hotel' which suggests to me (maybe wrongly) a self-contained space with its own facilities. Not so. This is more like a hostel where you have your own room but share living space (kitchen, lounge, bathroom) with other travellers and the manager. This is great if you're looking to swap tales and tips, but maybe not quite... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
