First of all the food is delicious. Go to the Tea House and order pretty much anything. The vegetables are fresh, the dairy products are local, and everything is abundant in the typical Israeli style. Guest houses are very basic. This is not a hotel or for a luxury vacation. You will have comfortable beds but they are basically cots....

My cousin and I enjoyed a one night stay here during our week of hiking. Our room was a bit rustic, as expected, but actually quite comfy, and adequate for our needs. We enjoyed walking the grounds before breakfast (included in the price) and thought the meal of fresh, locally grown food was quite tasty. Unlike some reviewers, we had...

Surrounded by one of the harshest desert-settings in the world is a place overflowing with organic flowers and food, and with happy, healthy people living in harmony with their neighbors and with the Earth. We stayed in a mud guest house, which was cozy and warm in December, and ate glorious, organic Israeli breakfasts in the Tea House. Definitely take...

We stayed at Kibbutz Lotan for 2 nights over the winter holidays, and had a really great stay. To be honest, I'd worried quite a bit about it beforehand - the reviews here are mixed, the kibbutz staff was incredibly unresponsive over email (though calling them worked just fine), and the accommodation offered for a family of five is just...

The Kibbutz is quite confusing and people are not really friendly. Finding the reception was not easy and it was always closed. Anyway, the room was big and clean, with a little kitchen with all necessary. Food was great and tasty, mostly for vegetarian people like me, even if the quality-price ratio was not satisfying. What I loved about Lotan...

If you ever do have a chance to stay in Lotan then take the possibility. I love love this place. The Hotel Rooms are ok and you also have a choice of staying in a mud igloo. But thats not the reason to come here. The desert is. And staying at an ekological center with Green garden/oasis is. The sounds...

We were here last year and either the place has deteriorated or i just didnt notice a lot of things last time. Lets start with the positives: It is close to eilat and not too expensive. Also they have rooms for 5 or 6 (cramped) people which most hotels do not. we went with good friends and had fun sitting...

Mud Building was certainly not something the average Joe would do in Israel, but it was quite fun. It seemed a little poorly coordinated on the kibbutz's part though. The food afterwards was quite possible the best Israeli food I had on my entire trip.

I never knew that this kibbutz existed. I never knew there are Reform kibbutzim. But here we came, for a conference actually. Peace was in the air, and on every face I encountered. Everything was simple, and contracted from local material, with artistic spirit that reminded me of the seventies. The rooms are basic, which is why I refrained from...

Kibbutz Lotan is what they call a ecological Kibbutz. It is a cooperative Kibbutz situated in the Arava desert, about 30 minutes from Eilat resort city. I think it was started by some long haired hippies who wanted to get back to nature. They were very concerned about the environment, and recycling. This is actually the place where the environmental...
