Right in the center of the ancient city of Jerusalem, the new BROWN JLM by Brown Hotels blends contemporary urban hospitality with traditional Jerusalem-style elements. The hotel enjoys a remarkable location overlooking Independence Park and the new Museum of Tolerance, right between the popular Nahalat Shiva pedestrian mall on one side and the Mammilla Mall and the Old City walls on the other. Like all Brown hotels in Israel and around the world, Brown JLM provides an up-scale, up-to-date experience, topped by a beautiful infinity pool on the roof overlooking a breathtaking Jerusalem landscape. Brown JLM is housed in a historic 19th-century building that has been carefully preserved and added 6 new floors, providing 46 spacious hotel rooms designed by the Israeli architect Prof. Yossi Friedman. An ancient structure in front of the hotel as well as beautifully preserved painted ceilings in the hotel lobby add to the authentic feel and blend into a modern and stylish design, rich in details and vintage collectors’ items. The hotel offers a plush spa suite with a private hot-tub; an elegant café-bar on the ground floor; an equipped conference room and the highlight - an impressive rooftop terrace overlooking spectacular views with a beautiful infinity pool. The rooftop also offers an outdoor hot-tub and sunbathing area, alongside a rooftop bar where the hotel's breakfast is served. Brown JLM is a pet-friendly hotel, allowing in pets up to 9 KG.

Brown JLM was a comfortable boutique hotel with a friendly staff. We were welcomed warmly and the check-in went pretty smoothly. They did struggle to to find our reservation in a larger booking but it only took a minute or so to resolve. The room itself was comfortably appointed with a comfortable king-size bed and duvet. It felt that the room was a little tight given the size of the bed and the location of a small desk at its foot. It would make sense to get rid of the desk and put in its place a narrow piece of furniture. There were plenty of open shelves to store clothes, and the bathroom was spacious and comfortable with a generous shower stall with an overhead rain shower and a spray attachment. We found the room quiet and restful. The breakfasts had a large variety of items, which meant that we could indulge in different ways the four days we were there. The serving staff were attentive and friendly. We had two people join us for breakfast and the charges for the additional meals were quite reasonable. The location was excellent if one wishes to be near the Mamilla and/or the Jaffe gate entrance to the Old City. Our only disappointment was that it didn't have even a small exercise studio, though as one of us commented, we wouldn't have had time to take advantage of it given our itinerary. We have stayed in a number of hotels in Jerusalem and we almost certainly would go back to the Brown JLM when next we are in the city.

Would stay here again but…be aware.

Let’s start with the fact that the staff is friendly and receptive. The restaurant downstairs is great. Breakfast is delicious and 85 NIS but would love a downsized option that is a bit simple for 40 NIS (coffee and pastry).

The rooms are stylish (no drawers but managed) and iron available upon request (suggest the hotel gets a board too).

Main problem with me and a few guests who stayed in other rooms is the noise during some nights from a nightclub nearby. Sometimes until 2 am. The hotel has no control (it looks like) and we notified the reception. Strongly suggest the hotel to put earplugs in rooms. I was lucky to have earplugs and slept fine but some other guests did not.

Last but not least, location is GREAT! And as important the price was reasonable.

I was there with my wife for 1 night
We upgraded to the Deluxe room and had corner view room with high floor. The room is big enough and well designed
Quite up at the 5th floor
The bed and pillows were very comfortable
The room was very clean
With nice Nespresso machine mini-bar and multi channels TV including Netflix.
Service is quick and efficient
We really enjoyed. Great value for money
Breakfast is taken outside in Cafit restaurant which was disappointing. No variety given by the hotel and its a shame
So this is the only bad thing to say
Aside of that it’s recommended

The location is perfect, but this is the only good thing that I would say about this hotel.
The Hotel is extremely filthy! The carpets has stains all over, all the furnitures are filled with dust. There was someones hair in my bed! The entire infrastructure is not maintained. The Hotel has so much potential, it’s so small and cozy, has perfect location, but the maintenance is simply horrible. I feel like they completely contempt the guests. The breakfast was horrible, the coffee machine didn’t work, the food was not fresh and they serve half dishes, i.e you are getting a half and another guest is getting half of the same pie - it’s awful.
Not recommended at all, especially at this price. It’s more like a low rated “guest house” than a Hotel.

From the minute we arrived we were impressed. Despite being a fair bit earlier than the advertised check in time we were swiftly given our room keys. The room was spacious, very comfortable, and well kitted out with a coffee machine, a contemporary bathroom complete with a good selection of toiletries, and the welcome bonus of robes and slippers. The roof terrace was a lovely place to sit and look down over Jerusalem, and had the weather been just slightly warmer we'd definitely have enjoyed the rooftop pool. Breakfast was delicious. The inside seating area isn't huge, but the staff were very quick to clear tables/make sure guests had somewhere to sit. And again, if it had been just slightly warmer there are plenty of tables outside. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff are, without exception, friendly, helpful and very efficient. The decor throughout is contemporary and imaginative. A welcome change from the larger, more corporate hotels

The Brown Hotel is a boutique hotel, well situated for sightseeing. The rooms are comfortable and modern. They are on the small side but not so that it felt cramped. We had a tiny balcony which allowed us to keep the door open and the breeze in. The staff was efficient and friendly. The restaurant within the hotel ( but not belonging to the hotel) provided delicious breakfasts. We also had two equally tasty dinners there, sitting outside on the patio under the stars. All the staff went above and beyond to meet our needs. All in all a great experience.

The best part about the hotel was that we could easily walk to the Jaffa Gate and nearby shops and restaurants. It has a funky Middle Eastern vibe that was nice, especially in the lounge/dining area. Breakfast was very good and fresh and had a nice variety without being over the top like the big hotels. Staff was warm and welcoming and would make great coffee for us.

The room was a bit small and lacking in storage space but it was clean and comfortable. The pillows were a bit thin and cheap. There were a few design flaws, like the open shower that will flood the whole bathroom if you don't place a rolled up towel at the opening; or the box-like bathroom that doesn't give much audio privacy and if you turn the light on at night, it illuminates the rest of the room; or the safe that is big enough to store 2 laptops and a large camera, but isn't bolted onto anything, so someone could just walk away with the whole thing... We didn't try the spa services, but we did use the restrooms down there, and the whole area had an unpleasant smell.

Our biggest problem during our stay was only partially the hotel's fault, but they could have helped prevent the consequences: The Jerusalem Marathon took place while we were there. We had rented a car the day before, to go to the Dead Sea and Masada. The hotel told us we could park on the street outside the hotel, and suggested a nearby parking lot, as an alternative. They didn't tell us that if we parked in either of these locations, we would not be able to get our car out until the following afternoon, due to street closures. While the hotel street was not marked for closure, there was no way in or out. There were no signs or maps in the reception area or elevators, and no one said anything about that street being inaccessible from 5:30am to 1:30pm. As a result, we missed out on seeing Masada and a day trip that was supposed to be on of our highlights, and we couldn't reschedule it due to our other plans. It could have been worse - what if we had to get to the airport and needed to return the car? Anyway, my point to the hotel is: be aware of these circumstances and help your guests be aware of them and help them plan accordingly, so they don't get stuck and have their plans ruined.

This is a fantastic hotel! We had two rooms, one for the kids and one for us. Both were well appointed, clean, and comfortable. Loved the interior design. The location in city center is unparalleled. (Caution: parking is a challenge). You can walk to mamilla mall, the old city, independence park, Ben yehuda street, and machane yehuda. The staff bend over backwards. For example, on our last day, we checked out and then went for a fun hike in the Judean desert. We had a plane to catch that evening but we were really dirty after the hike. On a whim, we dropped back to the hotel and asked if we could use a shower. The staff pointed us to the rooftop showers and gave us towels, shampoo,, and soap. It was definitely above and beyond our expectations. Oh, one last thing….The breakfast is AWESOME.

Stayed for one night at the weekend at a great locations with places open even on the Sabath.
The room and hotel in general are very well designed, as rooms are small and so are the public areas, recommend for a short stay.
Breakfast was great
Checkin and checkout were quick and easy and parking was near and available

Great location just near all the major attractions (old city, museums, city center). Relatively small rooms, extremely clean and comfortable. Many parking possibilities (not obvious in Jerusalem) with option on the street and in parking lots near the hotel. The breakfast in served in a near by coffee place (nothing to-write home about) but with so many culinary options around you really don’t need it.
