St Thomas is quite hard to find but once you've found it, you will appreciate the location. Less than 10 minutes easy, direct walk to Damascus Gate and the Arab Quarter of the Old City. Close to two bus terminus from which you can get buses or serviic (shared taxis) to Ramallah, Bethlehem, Jericho etc etc. Also close Damascus Gate tram stop: the tram will take you into the Jewish areas and larger city. A short walk to handy facilities like the Education Bookshop (enormous selection of English language books, good coffee and wifi, helpful staff, and a handy postal service). Lots of good, inexpensive shopping in the area (cheaper than within the Old City). There's also several mid-priced restaurant with 2 or 3 minutes walk. The area is safe. So, great location. The hostel itself ... well, look, it has its issues. The wifi and the hot water are unreliable. You may have no problems, or you may have a lot, depending on the room and the time of day. The place is clean but old, so it doesn't really gleam. Breakfast is fine. The staff are really helpful and can do things like arrange transport to the airport when its time to leave.

Property's Favourite Review
After 81 groups in the Holy Land, there is no place to stay like St. Thomas Home. The manager, Mr. Rami Hazzaz is simply the best man in the Holy Land and always by your side for help. Roula at the reception takes care of everyone. The chef Fadi makes fantastic food. The “home feeling” at St. Thomas is like nothing you’ll ever see. Have a good trip to the Holy Land - stay at St. Thomas Home!!

This accommodation is situated just 100 meters from the Damascus Gate of the Old City of Jerusalem. They offer a very simple but good breakfast. They have maintained the facility quite well and the staff are very friendly, especially Mr George.

An excellent starting point to explore the old city of Jerusalem. I liked how it was so close to all the attractions and bus/tram etc. The location to the Old City could not be better. The staff was so helpful and smiling and very friendly. Breakfast and lunch was delicious and substantial. Just as you like it in Israel. The sitting area in front of the front door is a true flower garden. Highly recommend.

Near to the old city and tourist places. Parking is available. Really nice breakfast, with a grill which allowed me to prepare my beloved cheese melting sandwich. Comfy beds. The family who manages the place is really nice and totally paid attention on my complaints about TV not working and air-conditioning noisy. The chapel inside is really nice and made me more spiritual connected with Jerusalem, the holiest city to christians, I spent a lot of time in the chapel during evenings. The bathroom is not nice, small and the shower area there's that plastic stuff and not a glass. This place receives lots of groups with noisy children, what can disturb a bit (or a lot). Old building so, noisy rooms. We can hear the air-conditioning annoying noise from another rooms.

If you want to have very cheap accommodation close to the Damascus Gate, this is a good option. Simple rooms and very small bathrooms. Simple breakfast and no entry after 23.00 hrs. Offers parking close by.

When you arrive tired and ask for water - they offer you water from the bottom of the bottle they drink from, and the price is 4 dollars for the smallest cup! They don't let you pour hot water into your instant noodle at the breakfast (which is must-have, because their "breakfast" is very poor, not tasty, with old bread or without bread at all) and there's no kettle in the room. If you ask for cold water during the breakfast time (7.00-9.00), they say you must buy it! Some old man is watching you all the time when you eat to make you feel like a thief, though you pay an enormous price for rotten food and dirty room with no fan, soap, shampoo etc. They don't clean rooms. I've heard all my neighbours complaining. Even after that they did not clean anything. I was sick because of their food and sick because of hotel staff behaviour.

The property is actually a local church that offers a very basic accommodations with private bathroom facilities. The staff are extremely helpful and bend over backwards to help. It's located centrally with local cafes near by. If your looking for very basic accounting, then you can't go past this place. Breakfast is plentiful.

I'm kind of stunned that it costs $95usd to stay here. Your room is literally a former nun's cell, with very small beds and a tiny shower. Amenities are minimal. Breakfast is okay. Location is stellar. I am not a fancy pants traveler, it's just that when I stay somewhere basic I expect it reflected in the price.
