We have just arrived home from a ten day holiday in Jerusalem where we stayed at the Golden Walls Hotel; we couldn't have wished for a better place to stay. The staff were helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel had a relaxing atmosphere and the decor was warm, modern but with artefacts from history. The roof terrace is a lovely addition, with views of the City walls. The breakfast and evening meal, buffet style, were delicious and plentiful with a great variety. The desserts in both the restaurant and the bar were very good too, something I really looked forward to at the end of a day's exploration. We are looking forward to our next visit. Judith
We arrived at the hotel as the last drop in a shared taxi (minibus), as we drew up the driver said "You have the best hotel" and I must say he was right. The position is ideal, a few minutes walk to Damascus Gate and the Old City and a few minutes more to Herod's Gate. You get a lovely view of Damascus Gate from the Hotel's rooftop terrace. The food is excellent; we had dinner in the hotel the evening we arrived, there was a wide variety of very good quality. Breakfast next morning was of a similar high quality, again with an amazing range. I heard another guest say to a friend "This is our best breakfast place" and I can see why. The staff are friendly and helpful, always keen to help. On the day of our departure we received an email saying our flight had been cancelled; staff did everything they could to help us resolve the situation. The hotel is comfortable and pleasant and tries to be ecofriendly having just installed a more energy efficient hot water system (plenty of hot water). Altogether a very enjoyable stay and we would definitely go again. Alan…
Well after 2 years of waiting due to Covid we made it back to the Golden Walls- oh how wonderful it was to see the staff still there still smiling and making our pilgrimage so special . 27 pilgrims who had never been before blown away by such great hospitality! The hotel absolutely spotless and our room beautifully cleaned each day. The food if anything was even better than 2019 which is saying something as the sheer variety and excellence of the meals was hard to beat then! The hotel is perfectly situated almost opposite the Damascus Gate and a 5-10 minute walk to the Garden Tomb. Thank you thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and care.
My first visit to this hotel and I was not disappointed. The hotel is around an hour away from Tel-Aviv and is very close to Masjid Al-Aqsa! The main Damascus Gate is just across the road (a couple of minutes walk) and then around 10-15 mins walk to the compound. We arrived quite early and although the rooms were not ready, the receptionist told us we could have breakfast and leave our luggage whilst we went out. The room we were given was spacious and comfortable and had some basic amenities. I was fasting so would wake up for Suhoor and the selection was amazing! Hotel staff were always on hand to help. Reception staff were friendly and helpful as were the cleaning staff. Two things to be weary of: 1 - there is no iron in the room and you have to walk to the other side of the building (depending where your room is) where there is an iron and ironing board for you to use. 2 - we were not made aware of a lift that is in the car park behind the hotel and had to struggle with the babies pram every day (a lovely gentleman pointed it out on the last day).. Apart from these two things, we had a very comfortable stay and the fact that the location was so amazing, really made it worth it. Would definitely recommend this hotel to others and stay here again. …
Stayed at the hotel as part of a group visit. Very impressed with the personalized attention provided by the staff. The rooms and facilities were functional and clean. Breakfast was buffet with a wide variety. Excellent location close to two gates. Around 15 minutes walk to Al Aqsa doors. Highly recommended.
This is a marvellous hotel situated right in front of the old city (Damascus gate). The rooms were cosy and clean. Service was great and staff were friendly. The highlight is the breakfast, which is lauded out for the likes of kings and queens. Getting to the old city and the Al Aqsa compound is a quick 5 to 10 minutes walk. So much history to explore. Will definitely return.
I have stayed at this hotel probably 15 times over the last 20+ years. There is always a warm welcome, good clean rooms which are not decedent by Western standards but very comfortable. Very conveniently placed for the wonderful Old City and its many interesting sites, amazing views of the Old City walls and good authentic food. I've taken pilgrimage groups there, but many use it for personal visits too. I have never even considered looking anywhere else in Jerusalem, this place is so good.
This hotel is only 100 m away from Golgata, and the wall to the old town. It is safe to og for a walk in the evening. The staff is exellent and the food is something i also can recommend. The price for the wine is ok
we stayed here for 3 nights, it was super clean and bright. The staff were very friendly and attentive and helpful. The location was excellent...between the Damascus gate and the Heron gate of the old city. Rooms were large and bright, with safe, fridge and kettle, the bathroom was large with a double walkin shower, toiletries provided Breakfast was excellent and plenty of choice to suit all tastes I would highly recommend this hotel
Stayed 3 nights here, it was superb, from checking in, and being brought a cold glass of home made lemonade, to walking through the light and airy reception to out room (138) A triple room , for only myself and Tanya, it was fresh and clean and with aircon, heating and mini fridge and kettle in the room. Walk in double shower and toiletries, and a safe in the room At the bar there was a large iced water dispenser to help yourself to. The view from the window was of the old walls, great atmosphere and you could hear the calls to prayer, the hotel is situated a couple of mins walk to the Damascus gate and the herod gate..into the old city Breakfast was a feast, so much choice and great quality food, caters for everyone. Cant praise the staff enough, we were leaving at 5.30 am, the front desk arranged breakfast boxes for us and to have tea and coffee available for us Would recommend this hotel…
