We loved our four night stay at The American Colony Hotel. The atmosphere is wonderful, the settings are beautiful and the hotel room was very comfortable. The entire staff was very helpful. Staying their was the best part of our Jerusalem visit.

Hotel's Favourite
Our family did a 9-day tour of Israel and Jordan. With all the moving around we did, we were incredibly thankful for 4 nights in Jerusalem, and that those 4 nights were at The American Colony hotel. All the details have been well thought through at this historic and beautifully maintained property. This was our first time staying at a "boutique" hotel instead of a large chain. The service was warm, welcoming, and outstanding by EVERYone we encountered. We are family of 4 and at the recommendation of our tour company, we booked two Pasha Deluxe rooms. We were very glad we paid a little extra for these rooms - it was worth every penny! We basically had our own suite - the rooms were not connected but we had a separate entrance in the hallway that we could lock while keeping our room doors open for easier access. It was perfect for our family! The rooms were very clean and spacious. (Even though this is an old property - it didn't feel, or smell, old and tired.) We were grateful for the extra space, comfortable beds, and well-equipped bathrooms after our long days of touring. Bonuses: The bathrooms had heated floors!! The showers had amazing water pressure. And, the minibar in the rooms had complimentary beverages that they restocked each day. After pounding the pavement all day, we were glad to "stay in" 3 out of the 4 evenings we were there. We ate dinner at the Cellar Bar and Val's and also got room service. We felt the prices were very fair for a boutique hotel and we all enjoyed everything we ordered. The portions were also very generous. The breakfast buffet (included with the room rate) was fabulous and the service there was also outstanding. We highly recommend this beautiful property that has a rich history in an excellent location in Jerusalem. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Rooms are spacious and beautiful . Service is excellent . I have been coming here for years and they never fail. The reservation manager Diana always finds the time to greet me personally to make sure I am satisfied with my room and the bar manager Fadi prepares my drink exactly the way I like it. After a long and tiring day of work , bar of the American Colony is the place where I go to relax. Breakfast is a good variety of traditional Middle Eastern and European food .

We loved our experience at this property. A+ for architectural details throughout the property. Our room was gorgeous and spacious. Linens and towels were very high end. The bathroom floor was heated! Staff was very accommodating. Ate at the bar one evening and it was delicious. All told, we loved staying at the American Colony.

This hotel is considered an institution in Jerusalem and it’s reputation is rightly deserved. It has bags of character, great staff and very nice rooms. The location is slightly outside the old town but still within a 10 minute walk of Damascus gate. We stayed in room 52 (Pasha Deluxe) which is a good sized room with an outside patio bordering the gardens surrounding East House. Although we could hear the call for early prayers at the local mosque it didn’t bother us. We thought the food options were very good – breakfast, which was an extensive buffet affair, and dinner, were both served in the Arabesque restaurant during our 4 day stay. The evening menu was typical hotel & quality – good but not fine dining standard. We found the portion sizes enormous, so if you are not big eaters then it’s worth asking to share. During our visit (March) the pool/courtyard etc were closed so we were unable to enjoy all it’s amenities but we liked the place so much that we intend to visit again during a warmer part of the year.

Remains to be THE address in Jerusalem. Lovely courtyard and grounds within a friendly residential area. Carries a lot of history within it made with original stone materials. Garden contents with truly ornamentive plants. Not to be missed.

Perfect service (friendly, gracious, knowledgeable). Beautiful property and a beautiful room. Fantastic bar (the cellar bar is a must visit). Amazing location, walkable to the old city and other points of interest and close to the tram to get further afield. One of the best hotels we have stayed in.

Charming, professional , top notch! מקום מקסים ומיוחד במינו. לדעתי המלון הטוב בישראל. I have stayed over 20 times at the American Colony. The place is a gem. I am particularly impressed with Ms Diana Aho who runs the front desk. The desk staff have a great can do attitude and always find solutions with speed and professionalism. I prefer rooms 14,15 & 16 when available. They are large, historic, on the courtyard and have a great balcony. Two of them are adjoined and are good for families. If you want total quite and seclusion book the pasha style rooms in the East house. Go to the summer bar for drinks when it’s open and eat in the courtyard during the summer. Mohamed, who runs the pool is also a professional abs very kind person. Overall the staff is great and the property is special.
