American Colony is not only a hotel, a restaurant and a bar, it is a monument of Jerusalem by its own right. This old, magnificent Ottoman palace has become a landmark in the city and the meeting point for a fascinating crowd of foreign correspondents, diplomats, aid workers, intellectuals and artists. This is one of the most atmospheric places in...

Lovely place ... very different mix between whats new and old together ... very high standards when it comes to details ... super clean .. smells good ... the garden restaurant is amazing .. feels you setting in nature .. I think the best room was number 6 where the Pasha used be his room ... very historical place ......

I stayed at The American Colony Hotel in a business capacity and found it very good. The room was well appointed and extremely quiet. The check-in staff were outstanding. If I was travelling privately, however, I was stay elsewhere as the cost was prohibitive.

A really nice and classic hotel. Have been here before and will come back in the future. Great restaurant and a nice bar in the cellar. You can reach the old town in after a 15 minute walk. There is also a nice shopping center outside the Jaffa gate, which is in walking distance.

Lovely colonial era buildings, immaculate service, beautiful grounds, fun bar at night, walking distance from the Damascus gate. Definitely recommend to the discerning traveler and business travelers wanting an oasis from stress.

More 4 than 5 star but having seen the other hotels where some of our tour groups stayed I think it is 5 star for Jerusalem and who doesn't like an oasis at the end of a long day sightseeing. Great pool to cool down and lots and lots of fruit trees all around. Felt very safe staying here. Friendly,...

If you're at all interested in Israeli/Palestinian history, served up in a luxury environment, this fine and highly atmospheric hotel is a must. You'll join tons of politicians, statesmen, journalists and artists who've stayed, negotiated (and schemed) here. As fot the hotel itself, it's beautiful, comfortable, and staff are great. Outdoor dining in the patio adds to the atmosphere. Also,...

I would not normally stay there, but found a good deal online. You can see the difference with other hotels in Jerusalem. Definitely the nicest one I have stayed at. The building is special, and the bookstore on-site is famous and a plus. The bar is great too.

We chose the American Colony because of reviews we read on TripAdvisor, and because everyone said it was a special place, so I feel compelled to warn others that there are things about this place that are not so special. The problems started when we first arrived after a long day of traveling. My husband and I asked for western...

Great location. Clean. Historic. Very nice. Would stay here again upon my next visit to Jerusalem. Room was spacious and hotel personnel was helpful. Can't think of any negatives. The meals were a bit pricey but excellent and the courtyard was beautiful.
