We stayed at the New Imperial Hotel for three nights while visiting Jerusalem. We booked the hotel directly through the web site which offered a better price than the discount site we checked. We called to request a first floor because of a fairly recent knee surgery. The manager was very kind and advised that getting to the lobby and first floor requires going up a flight of stairs and there is no elevator in the hotel. He urged to do what was best for us and not to worry if we decided to cancel because of the stairs. This is a family run hotel and it was obvious that was the case throughout our stay. We arrived early in the morning; our bags were stored for us and we were offered to have breakfast in the dining room which was very much appreciated. The dining room staff were always friendly there were many choices on the buffet each day, salads, yogurt, fruit, pasty, cereal including a couple of hot dishes. Our room was very spacious with two beds and a shower as well as a coffee maker, a fridge and a tv. There is a 24 hour coffee machine by the front desk with options for Americano, cappuccino etc. There is a beautiful view from the rooftop and as mentioned a restaurant next door. The location was excellent for touring the old city, just across the Tower of David Museum, the Visitor Center is just steps away from the hotel and the staff were very warm and friendly. If stairs are an issue be advised that the hotel lobby and the first floor of rooms require going up a substantial flight of stairs and there is no elevator in the hotel. Otherwise this is a great choice when visiting the old city in Jerusalem.

Excellent hotel, friendly and helpful staff, rooms small but clean, showers hot, beds comfortable. Tea and coffee available in rooms and at reception, buffet breakfast perfectly adequate, restaurants nearby. Right by the Jaffa Gate and entrance to the parapet walk. Easy walk to light train stop (10 mins), Tower of David Light show etc. Top location.

Unbelievable hotel! The greatest staff I have come across, everyone greets you with a smile and is ever so respectful. I am a Muslim and I believe this hotel is a Christian hotel but I’ve never felt so respected and cared for. Keep doing what you guys are doing. Shoutout to Leonardo for his great help and attitude! Even the boss got out of his seat and greeted me with a smile. Jaffa gate, close to everything, less than 10 mins walk to Al Aqsa!

This hotel should be rated anywhere between 2 and 5 depending on your priorities. My high rating relates to the practicalities of visiting Old Jerusalem. The place, for sure, is full of staggering things to see, but all around there is endless haggling, aggression and frankly dodgy behaviour. The hotel is a safe-haven of utterly civilised interaction between guest and host. Nothing is too much trouble for the Dajani family (hats off to Adi and Rania who are utterly brilliant). The hotel has a whiff of 1930's -1940's British Palestine and I loved the sense of times past. It simply overwhelms withe a sense of those times. The location is simply SUPERB. The hotel is located in the wall of Old Jerusalem at the Jaffa Gate (not a terrorist hotspot). Everything you want to see is within twenty minutes walk of the hotel. The roof has a splendid view of the major attractions (you're 30 metres from the Tower of David!) More a hotel for those who want to explore Old Jerusalem than those who want a sexy honeymoon. It is a hotel that has my huge respect. Things like WIFI and breakfast are beyond reproach. Jerusalem is not (in my opinion) a culinary hotspot but there is a decent restaurant just round the corner (but book). Let the hotel arrange your trips where I found their help outstanding. I love this hotel but if luxury close to Old Jersusalem is your priority then go to the Waldorf, but you will miss a great experience.

Very comfortable and welcoming. I was there as part of a group of fifteen and we were very well looked after and catered for. Roof terrace is a lovely place to spend an evening. Good value for money.

This hotel was simple yet functional. I was traveling solo, so my room was enough space for one person. The location is just priceless! inside the walls, Jaffa gate, so you can literally be at the main attractions of the old city in a couple of minutes. Staff attention was great. They made me feel welcomed. The hotel is an old building (of course) so you get the feeling of being in the old Jerusalem of back in the days...

This was a super hotel located at the Jaffa Gate. It is easy to access by foot after a drop-off at the gate which all the taxi drivers will know. The whole city is walkable from this destination. I had a great experience with the hotel staff as Rula, the front desk attendant, handed me back my new iPhone when I left it at the desk. I very much appreciated her honesty. Losing my phone would have been very traumatic and inconvenient! The room was more than adequate with both a cappuccino and coffee machine inside, refrigerator, and all the other expected amenities. They keep coffee in the hall and provide a luggage storage room. Please be mindful that there is a long set of stairs to access the front desk and no elevator. There is no bellman. I recommend storing luggage you can't carry at the airport if you can. The breakfast was the best I had in my 10-day tour of Israel. I appreciated the variety and the inclusion of adequate meat and cheese. So good! For lunch and dinner, there is a restaurant right out the front door for other food as well as good options in the Jewish quarter. There is a juice stand at the end of the street and are other bread/quick items for sale inside the city. I would stay again and recommend.

You’re paying for location here, of which it is the best. The breakfast also looks to be pretty good, however it starts at 7:30am and most tours leave before then so I didn’t get to utilize that at all. After that, it’s a bit downhill considering the price. The rooms are cramped and ours smelt like water damage. Our shower leaked out onto the floor so our bathroom was always damp. In the morning they had no water so I had to get ready for an entire day tour without any water. Reception told me it was construction, told my friend that someone left the tap running and then another guest said they’d been there for 4 nights and it was the same every morning. A lady at reception was particularly unhelpful… on arrival she asked us to settle the bill. After traveling for over a month, we started to get our money together before realizing that we had already paid for this online. When we asked her to check if it had been paid for, she became irritated with us - saying that we should’ve known. The same woman also didn’t help us with maps or advice, she also didn’t even say goodbye to us when checking out. She just took our cards without a word. Definitely don’t stay here for the customer service but the location was everything.

We stayed in New Imperial Hotel for a week and it felt like a home away from home. Everyone in the hotel were very nice and accommodating and we had a wonderful stay. Despite being an old hotel, it’s very well kept and clean. I love all the small little details. It is a family run hotel and we had the pleasure of meeting the manager Mr. Dajani who was very pleasant and kind. They have a lovely lounge area to relax. They also have access to a roof top where you can have great views of the area. My husband and I enjoyed having coffee and dessert there at night! There’s coffee and water available all day and night. The breakfast area is large and have a good variety of breakfast items. They were also kind enough to arrange a packed breakfast for us during days when we had to leave early for our tours. The location is perfect!!! It’s very close to Jaffa Gate and a very short walking distance everywhere especially to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. My family and I had a wonderful stay at New Imperial Hotel. It felt like staying with family. The only down side is not having an elevator which they make clear during reservation but that didn’t bother us given our overall wonderful experience. I’m looking forward to stay with them again if given the chance to go back to Jerusalem. I highly recommend them and will tell my friends and family about our stay there!

Stayed in a hotel which is located in the Christian quarters inside the old city halls. Within walking distance of everything you want to see that you may have read in the Bible. The rooms are very small and honestly it was a humbling experience. Staff is great, Breakfast is good but remember if your going to see the sights before all the tour groups get there which I recommend you will have to miss breakfast. Pics of the hotel and the entrance is misleading for you have a small walkway between stores to get to entrance and once you get in you have to climb around 30-35 stairs to get to service desk. No lift to any floors it’s all stairs. Felt safe in my room but as you come back to hotel watch out for the vendors especially to the right of the entrance to walk way. They start with where you from and come in my store. They are VERY aggressive.
