This is billed as a luxury hotel, and given the location and the facilities, it has all the makings of one, EXCEPT for the poor management (I am NOT speaking of the incredible front desk staff, but of the overall manager with whom the "buck stops"). I booked a 2 night stay from Thu-Sat during Israel's busy "family vacation time". I knew that meant crowds, but that's no excuse for a LUXURY hotel to drop its standards (especially so severely). At first glance, the hotel is lovely. The lobby is large, airy, and clean. The front desk staff is wonderful, ESPECIALLY the front desk manager, Ayelet!!! If it weren't for her, and all the efforts she made to fix the many problems we had with the room, I would have given this hotel ZERO stars. When we first got to our room, the floor was FILTHY (see pictures). There was food, dirt, and dust all over the bedroom floor. My husband literally walked 5 ft from where he left his shoes to the hotel bed, and his socks were covered in sand, dirt, and God knows what else. On top of that, there was a ton of sand on the bathroom floor (I had to put towels down on the floor to keep from tracking the sand into the bedroom)! There was dirty laundry (from the previous guest) in the closet! There was even dirty cutlery on the floor! I was in shock -- I haven't seen that kind of filth in a hotel room in ages. I've stayed in cheap $60 motels in the US that were cleaner than this "luxury" hotel. On top of that, I had to call 4 different times over two hours before someone finally came to take care of our requests (I obviously wanted the floors vacuumed, I needed to have the the safe unlocked, I needed new towels to replace the ones I had to put down on the bathroom floor, and we'd requested an extra bed made for my young son even before arriving to the hotel). In a luxury hotel, one should not have to call twice, let alone FOUR TIMES over several hours. It's unacceptable. As I said earlier, the one saving grace was Ayelet. When she found out that I'd called so many times for service, she got right on it and sent someone up within minutes!! She also kept going out of her way during the rest of our stay to make sure our room was being cleaned properly and that we were comfortable. With regard to the rest of the hotel... The breakfast food is low quality, and the breakfast room itself is dirty (we were given DIRTY KNIVES several times -- as in, you could see food and lick marks on the cutlery). I literally saw the busboy pick up a knife from a table where people just finished eating and place it on a newly dressed table... and this is during COVID!. I mean, I'm not particularly worried about COVID, but even that's too far for me. :-) The pool area is filthy as well. Granted, people are pigs. They take the free towels the hotel is kind enough to give us, and leave them strewn ALL OVER the pool area, despite the fact that there is a HUGE bin for used towels right next to the exit. People also leave their empty cups, cans, food bins, etc. all over the place, even though you have to exit through the cafe (i.e. very easy to drop your empty dishes off as you leave). Nevertheless, a luxury hotel should be prepared for the fact that majority of people are PIGS, and make sure an attendant comes around at least every half hour to remove dirty towels and dishes. Is that really so much to ask?? In summary, I would simply say that for nearly $500/night, this hotel seriously UNDER-delivered.…
Great location. Great view to the sea. Helpfull staff. Many restaurants nearby. Nice view from the pool ( Small but nice). There is parking with cost of 65 Shekel per day. Morning and evening at the beach ( 1 minute walking) is fantastic
After a 14 day stay at the Opera, it was a wonderful experience given our circumstances. The hotel staff was very helpful and provided all the amenities we could need. Very beautiful establishment and incredible views from the rooms. Thank you so much for the hospitality.
Very helpful and friendly staff! The location is sooo close to the beach. The facilities are clean and maintained daily. Very professional! Construction in the area but if you call ahead they will help make your visit as comfortable and enjoyable as possible! Willing to go the extra mile to make your trip smooth and easy. My first time to Israel and it’s very good so far 👍
We stayed at the Opera Herbert Samuel for 5 days. The food, service and amenities were outstanding. The rooms were large and clean, we will definitely stay here the next time we are in town. It is also located across from a promenade that is conducive to running.
