For the positive side - Central location in Jaffa, parking and square meter price. Friendly stuff on the phone On the other side: Apartment is not very well maintained, rather well worn. Not cozy in anyway ... Not enough warm water for 3 to shower Cleaning is very basic, board and windows were not cleaned for a while. No where to hang jackets or bags.

On paper (and web) all seems to be fine, great location, free car park, nice views and surroundings (as in the photos) and, considering the overinflated hotel prices in Tel-Aviv, it is fairly good value. However, while the spacious 3 bedroom apartment was quite well equipped, the tired interior and (the well located) balconies and windows require urgent refurbishment/maintenance and a regular clean up.

Jaffa is a beautiful city and so we choose this property for it's location for our annual Women's Weekend. Were we ever sorry that we did! The only good things we had to say about the property was the location and the facade of the complex. The apartment was filthy and stunk of smoke (although we specifically requested one of the advertised non-smoking rooms). There was an outside patio featuring parts of a dead bird scattered about, a broken lounge chair, and a wet, smoked cigarette on the table. The living room had old, lumpy, dirty furniture and there was a hole in the wall. Our apartment had 3 bedrooms. One bedroom didn't have heating or air conditioning, and the bedside table lamps didn't have an outlet to plug into. Upon complaint, I was brought a spiral heater but as the outlet was above my head, I needed to request 2 extension cords in order to plug it in. The kitchen area was dirty and sticky, and it was clear that upkeep was low priority. We were told that the apartment comes with 2 marked parking places, and we were warned to park only in those two spots. But upon trying to find the spots, it became clear that they were taken. Turns out that the manager and a friend of his had taken the spots and we were told to park one of the cars on the ramp going down to the parking area, near a No Parking sign. During the day, we got an indignant call to rush back and move the car, after being told to park there! The management was nasty and unavailable after 5 PM on Thursday except by phone. In short, the apartment was on the level of a poorly kept youth hostel, at the price of a pricey hotel, and the management should all be fired. Cross this one off of your list - consider yourselves warned!

First the positive: the location is fabulous, the sheets were clean and many towels were provided. The guard at the front is very sweet and helpful. It is a pity he is not the manager, since he would do a far better job than Lynn, the woman who oversees the place. The apartment was tired and maintenance of the apartments indifferent at best. But what really shocked us was the response we received when we expressed our disappointment to Lynn. We complained of a lumpy couch, impossible to sit on, and were told that she had no other rooms, and that "if we didn't like it, we could go elsewhere." I wish that we could have but it was a bit late in the game for that. When we asked what sort of compensation she could offer to ensure customer satisfaction, her response was clear: "nothing." When she overheard me saying something sarcastic to my sister about the fact that the management headquarters was well kept enough, as compared to the apartments, and that they clearly knew how to take care of themselves, she screamed that "she didn't like my attitude." She then suggested that maybe my unreasonable expectations came from the fact that I was used to hotels and that a rental flat is not a hotel. Ironic, since I only ever stay at rental flats, and the last one that we stayed in in Jaffa was state- of- the art, with helpful management, and cheaper than Andromeda Hills (next time I will not try something new once I have found something exemplary. If it ain't broken, don't fix it.) My sister and I then decided to creatively trouble shoot, since Lynn was not capable of it, and suggested that she bring some chairs from the headquarters to our flat, so that we would have something to sit on. In the end, Lynn decided to switch us into the flat next door, since those renting it had not yet arrived. In spite of the all- pervasive stench of cigarettes in the second flat, and numerous other seedy aspects as well, we chose this second option, hoping to air it out (which of course didn't entirely work.) We would not have expected this sort of rudeness and poor customer service at 600 nis per night, or for that matter, at 100 nis per night: at 1,200 nis per night, it was beyond shocking.

Reviews for Andromeda Hill are mixed and that heavily depends in your expectations. I will try to present the pros and cons of the place and each one can make their own mind. Let's count: 1. Location. In the middle of old Jaffa is just a few hundred meter within everything. You have a couple of restaurants and mini markets just 100m away from the gate and everything else is within 10-15 min walk. The old city and the galleries, bars, restaurants, the promenade etc. 2. Connection. It is fairly easy to find a taxi if you stand on the intersection of Yefet and Luis Pasteur. Alternatively you walk by the clock tower, 600m away and find plenty. There is one bus that drops you off right outside Andromeda if you come from downtown (no 10) and another one that pick you up some 200m away and takes you downtown to Savidor train station and bus yard. Alternatively you walk about 1 km down to Yerusalem boulevard and a whole bunch of buses take you downtown. Mind you that public transport stops from Friday evening till Saturday evening and that Yerusalem boulevard will soon be close due to tram works. 3. Parking. Each apartment has a designated parking spot on the underground garage. The first time might be better if someone shows you your spot but you'll get around. Mind you that unlike most the world level -1 is deeper than level-2. 4. Reception. Is is open workdays only, Sunday to Thursday 9.00 to 17.00. If you need something outside these hours tough luck. 5. Amenities. The pool, the kids playroom, sauna, pool table and gym are good and you can spend your time there if you wish. The surrounding is also OK. 6. Housekeeping. That is really the low point in Andromeda Hill. The time that they come is inconsistent as well as their services. Sometime they just pick the trash (luckily on -1 you can dumb them yourself), sometime they forget to change linens, mopping is just a joke and don't even look below the bed and the sofa. It is really disappointing, next to filthy. Apparently the workforce takes a really relaxed approach towards their role. Unfortunately that is way below the cleaning standards of similar expensive establishments around the world. Did I say expensive? Yes it is. Estimate some 3,000 USD per month for below par services. 7. Rooms. There are different blocks (11 I believe) and they seem to have different standards of interior decoration. Andromeda opened around 2000 to the public and apparently the furniture, the bathrooms and the white appliances were already dated when installed. Most of the 2-bedroom apartments feature gas oven and stovetop, a refrigarator and a washing machine. Some of the studios do not have a washing machine. The balcony doors tend to leak when there is heavy rainfall and water forms ponds on the floor. The closet, the iron board, the iron itself all are quite old. The staff and the technicians are quite helpful when you gave a problem with internet, boiler, appliances but is only so much they can do when dealing with old and dated furniture and equipment. Overall for one or two days might be OK but for longer period is not my taste. Is up to you.

The location was great for night life in Jaffa. I stayed here until my permanent lodging for my job. I wished that the business hours for the management office were a little more accommodating (better office hours). The curtains on the windows were about 20 Cm too long for the windows. The wardrobe closet was in the smallest room for the apartment. I did suggest to them that is should be moved but was told that it could not be moved. The shower was old and not maintained. The exhaust fan in the bathroom had mold. I should not have to tell them to clean it.

The apartments are in a fantastic location for Jaffa old city which is beautiful and within walking distance of some lovely restaurants and shops. They also look really attractive from the outside. But that’s as good as it gets. As soon as we stepped inside our apartment, our faces dropped. I think it must be the luck of the draw which apartment you get allocated as some reviews sound so much better and talk about lovely views etc. Sadly we weren’t given one of those. The one we were given was absolutely awful. Unbelievably filthy and just so shabby. Most things were broken or had just seen better days. I had to clean it myself whilst my husband set about mending things. The bathroom smelt disgusting. And we had no view at all. The pool area was lovely but just so crowded and noisy with families and children, we couldn’t get sun loungers next to each other and couldn’t get in the pool for all the kids. Perhaps a nice holiday for families but not for couples wanting to relax. And at £220 per night I was expecting so much better than this. Beware the price you’re quoted might not be the price you actually end up paying (possibly because of the exchange rate at the time?). I ended up paying £300 more than I had been quoted for the week. A very expensive mistake. We absolutely loved Tel Aviv and Jaffa and plan to return. But certainly won’t be staying here. Huge disappointment.

I saw the pictures on the internet and it looked fantastic, but in reality it's the worst. Me and my husband are living here for a while as part of his business trip and I want to say all the rooms are old and poorly maintained. We had water leaking 2 times from ceiling in one of the bathrooms, and water leaking from one of the pipes in the other bathroom (staff said it was just old, like anything else in this place), also didn't have hot water and had electricity cut off. Of course you can't call anyone because the management goes home before evening and they don't have anyone in charge of the maintenance. One of the shelves in the kitchen fell and the gas stove stopped working after the cleaning staff just shoved her cleaning rag and broke it (took them 2 weeks to fix it) also the TV doesn't work most of the time, we just watch TV on our laptop (when the WiFi actually working...) the cleaning staff sometimes change our sheets to dirty ones (black spots, one time found a bit of blood as well) or dirty towels (already found holes, dry snot, blood and etc..), and they don't even try to clean the floors, they just spread the dirt even more. I don't want to start talking about the neighbors upstairs who throw garbage to our balcony and throw dirty water after washing their floors (one time they even hit my husband) and what did the management do after we told them 3 times about this? absolutely nothing. They only know how to be rude and unhelpful. At least the beach is close, and the pool is nice, but that's about it. Please don't let the photos fool you like they fooled me.

It is old, not maintained, not fun. We were promised a room with view to the sea and got view to grave yard. The staff was rude. The hotel manager kept argue with us. Dirty all over!!! See the pictures and decide for yourself.

The rooms here are old and shabby. The couch is plastic and very uncomfortable. It is saggy and if you sit on it for any length of time it sweaty. The rest of the furniture is early IKEA and in desperate need of an update. The kitchen is poorly equipped without basic utensils for frying an egg. The non stick frying pan was badly scratched which is very unhealthy. I had to wash the dishes before using them. They left a bottle of dish soap in the room and it hadn’t even been wiped down There is a wooden box in the kitchen full of tea and instant coffee. The box is glued to the counter with all kinds of dirt around the edge. The bathroom was very large but the shower was smaller than a phone both with a non functioning soap dispenser that took up a lot of space. There was no curtain in the bathroom and the construction crew working across the street could easily see in. There was a cup in the bathroom that was glued to the counter, I don’t know the last time it was washed. I also found these little flys in the bathroom. They seemed to be coming from the drain. On all the cupboards they have these cute knobs but unfortunately the metal part snagged my pants every time I was at the kitchen and bathroom sinks. The bed was very old and uncomfortable and you can see from the photo how badly stained it is. Thank goodness I only realized this a few days before I left There is a 3 panel window in the bedroom and only 2 of the 3 windows have blackout curtains. This was a problem as the building next door has bright lights on all night The curtains are to long for the windows and hang on the floor in bunches and are very unattractive and dirty. I don’t even want to tell you about the dirt under the bed. As you can see in another picture. The dust on the wall are thick, you can see where I swiped my finger and the difference in the color. My experience with the front desk person was terrible. They have no idea what service means. This property does not operate like a hotel. The office is only open Sunday to Thursday and only during office hours. If you need something any other time you are out of lucky.
