The 'boutique hotel' where stands Al Mamlouka used to be a family owned house similar to the other Damascene houses in the Old City it is located in the Christian quarter, Quemarieh street. The hotel built around a central courtyard with an original fountain in the middle and a citrus/ bitter orange (Naranj) trees and an Iwan or Liwan. The hotel has 8 bedrooms five of them surrounded the courtyard and three one situated on the first floor, it has a terraces and private patios. It also it has an Old Bayke (stable), converted into a bar, breakfast room and a gallery. The hotel belongs to the 17th century and boasts original features from the 18th century. One of the suites, Suleiman the Magnificent, contains its own fountain in the shape of a rose and an original 230 year old Christian fresco on the ceiling.. Each room is entitled and decorated in traditional Syrian style using local products. Brocade is used to make the curtains and the beds are fitted with Damascene quilts. A beautiful, clean, and comfortable hotel with antique architecture and decor, an excellent staff and offers a delicious breakfast each morning. Multiple employees speak English (which is helpful for foreigners who may not speak Arabic, such as my family - we visited from the United States). We enjoyed every second of our stay and we'll surely return to this wonderful hotel the next time we're in Damascus.

Absolutely brilliant experience from the moment I walked through the old wooden door to the moment I checked-out. I was welcomed by the most wonderful, knowledgeable and attentive staff in an oasis of calmness, moreover I had an upgrade to a huge sophisticated, spotless suite one of the best I've ever stayed in. Food was fresh and well presented. In this hotel they take care of every little detail to make your stay memorable and they succeeded in achieving this goal. Without hesitation I highly recommend staying at beit al mamlouka

historic building with unique rooms. this place is a feast for the eyes, they have put unique antiques all over the place which perfectly fits into the old town, i LOVED that. if you are going to Damascus and want the history, do stay in the old town, it is an amazing place to explore. this boutique hotel is perfect, it's just blocks from the main tourist street and the historic walls and castle. the included breakfast was great and huge, the staff in the restaurant were very attentive and polite, it was a real nice way to start the day every day. I highly recommend this place it’s the best boutique hotel in old Damascus.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and it was just amazing. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful and they made sure that we got everything we needed. The old, traditional rooms in this traditional Orient house are incredibly beautiful and well furnished. Good shower, wifi and heating and a beautiful garden and rooftop terrace where you can enjoy a coffee and Shisha. A wonderful experience to which I really want to come back to when I visit Syria again. Cannot be more satisfied about the service, kindness and the hospitality of this little piece of paradise in the heart of a lively and charming city. A special thanks to Lauren and Grace who made us feel at home here.

A beautiful historical property, centrally located in Damascus. The property feels more like staying in a welcoming home rather than a large overcrowded hotel. It is very peaceful and relaxing while the staff are attentive and still able to assist with any need. The best thing about this property is the location. It's only 10 to 15 minutes walk to all the major sites in the city, meaning you could easily get around. The food was amazing and each morning we were presented with a very large selection of eggs, cheeses, fruits as well as orginal Syrian sweets. Beit al mamlouka family have created an open home that i would highly recommend and hope to visit again soon...
