It's a beautiful building and the communal areas are lovely, and the location in Candalaria is great for tourists. You are in the midst of the old town with it's amazing old buildings and close to most of the historic buildings, museums and galleries that you might want to see - all a short walk away. (Right next door is...

My wife is writing a book on education around the world. So we went to virtually every country in South America to visit schools. This hotel has superb ambiance, a tremendous breakfast, lovely rooms, and above all superior service. Location is great too.

Stayed here on business. Colonial architecture and interior design. Very central - fifty paces from the central square. The staff are pleasant and unobstrusive (they will not bother you unless you ask for something). My only negative comment is that the food is dire. I ate in one night and was served a side portion of rice that was a...

We had one night in Bogota as we travelled from Chile to Costa Rica. We wanted something in and of the old quarter. Hotel de la Opera was perfect - high ceilings, multiple courtyards, cosily separated from the mean streets of Bogota. It's like a place from an Al Stewart song, and you can imagine secret deals being done by...

Spent three nights here. The facilities were a high-quality. Room was comfortable and the spa was certainly a surprise. The steam room and sauna both were a high-quality. The staff was very helpful but could've been a little more personable. The breakfast was decent and the room service was great. The location is walkable and seemed as safe as anywhere...

The hotel displays 5 stars at the entrance and although this might be a bit high it's a very pleasing 4-star property without doubt. Located in the heart of La Candelaria, the old town of Bogota, the boutique hotel is charming, well-maintained, and comfortable. We arrived several hours before check-in time after a long journey from Asia, and they were...

Opera is a pretty hotel with well-furnished rooms, a great staff, an okay breakfast, and even a little pool and sauna. For a romantic getaway where you won't be leaving your room, I'm sure it's great. But if you are in Bogota on business, or you're a single woman, this is probably not the place you want to stay. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel de la Opera is located in La Candelaria, next to the Cristobal Colon Theater, in front of "Palacio San Carlos", currently headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, one block from Bolivar Square and a fifteen minutes walk to the funicular for Monserrate hill. Thanks to its strategic location, our guests can easily visit the most characteristic places of the city, for example the Gold Museum, Botero Museum, Primary Cathedral, etc. Also, many important government buildings are nearby. Walking its roads you will be part of its stories, legends and myths which are preserved in each of its houses. Questions like, why do the houses have doors of two meters? Where did Manuelita Saenz live her idyll with Simon Bolivar? Which is the window through which Simon Bolivar escaped? These are just some examples of the cultural treasures that you will find in La Candelaria. ... more   less
