The lobby is very nice but that's where it ends. When I entered the lift I immediately noticed all the fingerprints all over the mirror and buttons; it obviously hadn't been cleaned since the hotel opened. The bed had dirty sheets and the room had industrial strength air-con that made an industrial strength noise so therefore had to be turned off. Don't know if there was any breakfast staff because no one ever approached me for tea or coffee. But the real problem was this; As I was checking out at 5.30am I made sure to pay my account in full the day before so I wouldn't be held up for my flight if there were any problems... and because I'm not a thief. Upon check out, however, I was treated like a thief and almost held hostage by the night receptionist who DEMANDED that I pay 130 000 for the transfer to the airport. I explained that I'd already paid and he said no - without looking at the computer or anything. I told him that if he looked at my account on the computer and would see that I'd paid for everything. He again said, "No, no, you've haven't paid". I told him again I'd paid for everything, to look at the computer and he continued saying no. So, because I didn't want to miss my flight, I had to get the receipt that was packed in my suitcase - so, that's right, I HAD TO OPEN MY PACKED SUITCASE, WITH A FLIGHT TO CATCH, find my receipt and show him. Upon seeing that I was right and that I HAD INDEED paid for everything all he said was "Oh". No sorry. Nothing. ARROGANT BEAST. This hotel should be demolished and built from scratch. And while at it, they could train wait staff how to wait and they could train beasts how not to be beasts. I've given two stars - one for the location and one for the daytime reception/housekeeping staff.…
I stayed in this very well located central hotel when visiting Asuncion and the towns around it. The building is a landmark one in the city centre with large public areas. My room was alright but a bit worn. I did have a bath-hurrah. Air conditioning was good but noisy. The wi-fi came and went. Good gym. Good buffet breakfast and evening meals.
We stayed in the Hotel Guarani for two nights while visiting Asuncion. We were originally booked into the Excelsior Hotel but decided to pay a little more for the Guarani. This was the largest of all the hotels we stayed in during our four country visit to South America and although not unfriendly, the staff were more officious here and not as warm as in all the other places we stayed. The hotel is nice enough on the inside though a bit of a 1960's monstrosity from the outside. The room was very small, by far the smallest we stayed in during our near 3-week holiday and as others have said, the fixed window slats make it feel like a prison. There was no proper wardrobe for hanging clothes in, just a rack next to the bed with four hangers. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and the location is excellent. The bed was very comfortable and the room was cleaned to a good standard. The price was quite high given the size of the room.…
Cannot fault this hotel. Located in the centre of old Asunvion which is the tourist part it is within walking distance to all of the citys tourist attractions. Rooms very spacious and modern. Breakfast was plentiful, very wide choice. The hotel also has a casino with a bar that serves food. They also let me pay at reception for taxi to airport with card at check out as i had no currency for driver.
This hotel is located in the city centre. The room is fine and standard but with a more luxury feeling. Breakfast is a buffet with a lot of choice. Both warm and cold dishes. The pool outside is not heated but is very nice.
