I stayed in this hotel last year on my second trip to Myanmar. I am currently planning trip number three and happen to be booking hotels at this very moment. The New Aye Yar hotel is a typical budget hotel the likes of which can be found all over Southeast Asia. However, since it is in downtown Yangon it costs...

We are here for a conference at the YMCA and wanted at least a little comfort even though our colleagues were staying there! This hotel is very basic. We've seen mixed reviews so our hopes weren't high. I think you get what you pay for. Don't expect more than basic and you won't be disappointed. THe air conditioner worked well....

The staff are very friend and helpful. Breakfast was included. The breakfast is 7/10. We had to leave early for a flight. The staff made us a breakfast box. A nice thought. The rooms are a little tired but are fine. You may not appreciate it if you are picky but seasoned travelers will see this hotel as a good...

For a little more in terms of spend you would get a lot more in terms of enjoyment. I can understand why folks on a budget would be happy to stay here but it is not at all pleasing for those not wishing to 'slum it'. It is seriously dated, mouldy in parts, terribly lit, smelly and with dirty sheets....

I travel frequently to Yangon and have stayed in numerous hotels there. This one is by far the best value. $46-60 depending on room. Get one on the front side of the hotel high floor and you have a great view. Rooms ok for Yangon. Breakfast is good and best of all there is a great Indian restaurant in the...

Rooms are very spacious but it is the oldest, most worn down hotel I've ever stayed in. The bathroom had repair jobs all over with bad patching. Mold along the sink, shower and shower curtain. Carpet in the corridors were ripped, stained and worn. The entire hotel needs to start over. Compared to other places in Myanmar we stayed at...

The New Aye Yar Hotel certainly looks better in the picture than what it was. The manager and staff were great. But the hotel needs to be maintained better, especially for the price of $US70 a night. Rooms are a good size, but need to be renovated as it looks like they haven't been touched since the hotel was built....

I have no experience in hotels in Yangon, but for 52 euros you should get something more. Rooms are not as they show on website. Bathrooms are old and dirty and rooms are simple. We claimed for a room better and they showed us more or less the same. Location is excellent near the City hall and Pale Paya, and...

Went there for business trip, so was ok for myself. Meet expected standards of comfort in Myanmar. Conveniently located, friendly staff and nice breakfast buffet. Don't look for a view or else, just a room to sleep...and work, and watch tv.

The New Aye Yar Hotel is in a wonderful area (rapidly transforming to upscale) of Yangon halfway between the British Strand Hotel and the spectacular Sule Pagoda. The hotel caters mostly to Chinese Nationals, but it will be a pleasant experience for you too. The hotel has a great advance internet rate. The free breakfast buffet at the 2nd floor...
