We have been positively surprised by this narrow red fronted hotel facing the luxury Traders hotel. Well located, within walking distance from the Sule Pagoda, the shopping area and the wonderful colonial houses, even if they are not well preserved.

Decent, relatively modern hotel. Staff are nice and helpful. The rooms aren't well insulated from the corridor noise however and door-less bathrooms are just bizarre. no one wants to see that!
Decent location though to be fair.
East is in a fantastic location, opposite the Traders Hotel, a short stroll from the ferry terminal, The Strand and Chinatown, so ideally placed.
The staff are attentive and smiley.
The breakfast is varied and of good quality.

There was no fixed door, however there was a room divider which could be used as a door across the opening, the toilet was hidden from sight behind shower wall from the rest of the room and there was also a bamboo roll down blind on the bathroom window that also allows priviacy from the rest of the room.
We looked at various rooms and found our room with a front street view only, to be the biggest and best.
Hope this helps
