In February-March 2013 we visited Myanmar. In Yangon and stayed at the Thamada Family Hotel. We booked via Agoda and paid 30 US$ for a double room. The hotel was not that special, but quite cheap for Yangon and the top floors have a great view of Shwedagon Pagoda. The rooms were spacious, with private bathroom, but not too clean....

I booked this hotel via Agoda for 2 reasons. I/ Proximity to the pagoda and 2/ I wanted somewhere decent (ish) as I was coming from a long journey from Australia and wanted to have something booked when I arrived in Yangon. The room itself was OK- very spacious, clean enough although the bathroom had definitely seen better days. The...

In my view the hotel was awful but that is not my issue. My issue was that it was way overpriced. For the condition of the room, I should have only paid between $10-15 nd yet I paid $40 dollars. The location is fortuitous as it is near the Shwedagon Pagoda but otherwise I would rather have stayed elsewhere and...

I was visiting Yangon only for one day so all I need is a place to spend the night. The reviews about Thamada Family Hotel are not that encouraging but I still gave it a shot since it was the cheapest option available online. I arrived the hotel past 10 a.m. and I was allowed an early check-in (what a...

We choose this hotel cause it seems to be close to the Swedagon-Pagoda. "Close" still means a min. 15min. walk on polluted main roads. No taxi-ride from downtown takes that long. After sunset the surrounding area is pretty much dead: only a few restaurants (the thai one called "Mai Thai" is pretty good tough), no bars, only some stray dogs....

My foremost objective for booking this hotel was its proximity to the Shwedagon Pagoda so despite reading not-so-nice reviews about the amenities, I still went for it. True enough, the hotel was quite shabby as the front desk looked disorganized, it smelled old, and the bathroom was rusty. But it was already okay enough for me to stay just for...

if you're looking for a low rate hotel in Yangon, this the right place. But don't expect too much. Sometimes the hot shower doesn't work and the worst thing, the tap water rusty; travelers are advice to get a bottled water for drinks. Best thing about this hotel is the room. it is big! big enough for 2, coz u...

This place is near Shwe Dagon Pagoda and a mall. That's it for the good things. They hotel is dirty and super far from everything else. There are few restaurants close by and the staff are unhelpful. It's cheap, but we wouldn't stay there again.

Booked it through Agoda, which is very expensive USD 30 per night. Got a room on the 7th floor, and had to climb the stairs all the way up. The room is very spacious with aircond. and fridge, huge bed and nice view over looking Shwedagon pagoda. Got to see the sunrise exactly at the pagoda's direction, very beautiful. Staff...

First of all, the hotel is very near Shwedagon, from the hotel window, you can see the Shwedagon. Actually, we wall to there. Second, the room is very large and clean. During our stay, we had problem of water supply. The water was not available from 10PM until the morning. We could not take the shower. I suggest that the...
