Need to renovate the place is too dated. Also concierge feels not helpful, when we checked in they did not bother to show us where is the lift to get to the rooms as it is not that obvious from the reception area.

Cannot recommend the hotel and will not consider next time I am around Gangnam area and looking for a place to stay.

The only reason I stay at this dump is because my the company I was consulting with put me there. Rooms are filthy and thrown together and falling apart. The Internet rarely works. The room included breakfast, which is a choice of omelette or scrambled eggs. Its supposed to be a buffet but they never have it. The water in the showers cycles between hot and cold and is impossible to use. The carpets look like they have never been cleaned. There are cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. When I asked to change rooms I was given a room that was even worse. When I complained again I was told it was too bad. The hotel walls are paper thin and the halls are noisy. If you are used to clean rooms and good service stay somewhere else. I would never accept this hotel again!

I am amazed that this hotel claims to be 5 stars.
Here we are in the capital city of one of the most exciting and impressive countries in Asia. I love coming here. This time I imagined that a hotel with an English name might have some genuinely international flavour. The name is the one and only piece of English language in the hotel.
Not a single thing in the room helps me to know how to work the airconditioning (which has been off, every time I came into the room! I have had to ask Reception to turn it on every day. The remote in the room does not work: it it flat.)
Today my companions and I needed to leave early for a day trip. We expected an early breakfast. Nothing was available before 7 am, (in contrast to other hotels)—and when we were allowed into the area, nothing was ready. The selection of cereals is pathetic. Do they imagine people want to eat sweet American-style cereals? No muesli, oats, and no fruit. No yoghurt. In short, nothing healthy. The concern for healthy eating is all over the world: except here.
The white bread, the only bread, is tasteless. And no no-dairy spreads, such as margarine.
The breakfast is expensive, for basically pathetic offerings.
The coffee shop has the most expensive coffee I have ever seen anywhere in the world.

The bathroom has no shower curtain, so water goes all over the floor. But there is no bathmat: so one must use a towel to dry the floor (and hope not to slip over.)

When I entered the hotel, two nights ago, a large group of people were leaving by the side entrance: many of them smoking. The entire lobby area smelled of cigarette smoke for the rest of the night. You must not let this happen.

In the room, the lighting hopeless. I am sitting at the desk now, and it is almost in total darkness.
I have tried to find items in my suitcase, at night, but simply cannot see. That is just pathetic. And dangerous.

And both my companions and I (each in our rooms) have found that several of the power sockets don't work. My phone was in the socket to charge all night, and when I got up it was lower than when I plugged it in.
The power sockets are well hidden too.
In short, the room and the hotel are impossible for a person whose language is English. There is no booklet of information. Nothing to invite rooms service or to help me with the airconditioning, the tv, or the services (???) of the hotel.
The staff at the hotel are, as always, very courteous and try to help. But the basics are not here.
I do have to say the spa was good, though very expensive by Korean standards.
In short, this hotel needs a lot of shakeup in its services if it is to be worthy of four stars, let alone 5.

You could at least have a wardrobe in the room. Your opening hours for your canteen for breakfast, lunch and dinner needs to make sense. Between weekdays and weekends. And also note the last time to go to the canteen. I was always arguing with your canteen staff because your price and opening hours wasn’t clear or ever advertised or noted.
Another stupid and ridiculous thing that happened to me in your hotel gym which I was paying for separately. Let me start by saying I’m a black woman with unruly Afro hair, so product moisturising is key to having healthy growing manageable hair. Obviously a lot of people are ignorant and don’t know, or understand this. Im mentioning this because most Koreans don’t know how Afro hair works. An old lady cleaning the gym changing room told me not to spray my hair with coconut oil. It’s funny because I mixed the bottle with 90% water. I went to the reception to complain about this with the help of a personal trainer. He tried to be on the old lady’s side saying maybe it’s because of the smell. Seriously? How ignorant, after they said I could use the spray bottle. I was still in shock I would never go back to that hotel. It’s a very spacious big changing room it’s hardly ever full. No one was complaining so why was the cleaner so concerned whilst staring at me struggling to comb my Afro in front of asian women blow drying their straight hair. Maybe you shouldn’t use the hair spray on the mirror as well. That has a smell to it. So stupid racist and ridiculous.
Some people need to educate themselves and grow up. Move on we are in 2020. There is going to be more and more black people going South Korea.

Hope, my review will save some of you, who is going to book this hotel. Well, will share my sad experience.
Back home I Have ordered a superior double (very nice pics and description of the room, clean bathroom etc.) When I opened our room I was just shocked! Guys, I have never ever seen anything worse in a lifetime. It was worse than a road motel! Dirty carpets, table, and bed clothes. Terrible smell, black hair in the cup and on the toilet. No promised bathtub or even shower!
When I went down to speak to the personnel of the hotel, I got only RUDE answers and no respect for us at all. Answers like: "Do, what you want, we don't care etc." The hotel manager didn't leave her office to apologise or to talk to me, (they didn't know one of us speaks korean) she said smth like "I will not speak with these stupid ..."
They will not provide you with any refund! I was yelling at them and the personnel of hotels on phone and they sent me a confirmation of the refund of ... 0.84 Euro!!!! Out of 500.
They are a bunch of LIARS. they published on Hotels fake pictures of the rooms.
Be careful! Better find a clean and new motel in Seoul, if you don't manage to book another hotel! About swimming pool and spa :) They have it "only for men", if you understand, what I mean. They are very good to provide some "extra-service" for men

Terrible experience. The room was small and dirty. Room phone was not working. Even after requesting the hotel staff this was not repaired. Room service is non-existent. Carpets are dirty and the hotel is smelly. Breakfast spread is very limited.

If you have booked this hotel already, and you are able to change, please make sure you do!
We booked this room last June through a travel agent (who used their supplier). After reading all the reviews, I tried to change the room but we would've lost the money so we were stuck. Having no choice but to stay with hotel, I was already dreading arrival and eveything I read, was true.
We arrived at hotel at 10:00- and having to wait for 4 hours until check in, we really wanted to get into our room and relax. When we went back to the counter to check in we were advised that our room was "no longer available" due to a wedding. I asked the manager why a booking made last June and reconfirmed the previous week had been double booked - his reply- "I don't know, sorry".

We had booked a superior double, which was now "booked". He offered us a 50% discount on the diffference to upgrade our room to a deluxe. I advised him that I refuse to pay extra for another room when we had already booked a suitable room and due to their mistake, we weren't able to stay in it. I asked him if they were going to refund the difference between the room prices- he advised no. I asked him if they could atleast throw in breakfast every moring which would be the same amount- he said no. This was going around and around in circles and it was quite obvious that they genuinely didn't care.

After about 10 mins of this I advised him that he has ripped us off, we are out of pocket and something needs to be done - he advised he knows this but nothing will be done. HE ADMITTED TO SCAMMING AND BLATANTLY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING!

Exhausted from travelling, we gave up and arrived in our standard double room. DISGUSTING! Black mould, mildew, assprted carpet stains, stained walls, rust, the list goes on. The floors have not been cleaned sinced opening day and the walls are revolting. A hotel like this would be in trouble for misleading potential customers with a 4 star rating in Australia!

I got in contact with my travel agent, who contacted their supplier, who contacted the hotel and they wouldn't budge! Nothing!

It's a genuine health hazard and not worth your money.

The staff are rude and deceitful. They are incompetant and I wouldn't trust them with important things like booking transfers etc.

The location is great but again, GO SOME WHERE ELSE, it's not worth it!

Our honeymoon is tainted because of this awful, sess pool, lie of a hotel and I wouldn't want anyone to get caught ouy like we did.

The Riverside hotel is well below western standards and one of the worst hotels I stayed in Korea and around the world. The rooms as well as the lobby and restaurant stink from cigarette smoke. We changed 3 rooms until we found a room that the smell was somewhat bearable. I still got sever headaches every single day of the three night stay due to he smell. Toilets in the rooms are leaky and there are signs “do not throw toilet paper in toilet”. Carpets in rooms and hallways are stained. Swimming pool was closed throughout our stay, no alternative was offered. I will never recommend this hotel.

This hotel definitely doesn't warrant a 5 star rating. On the negative side, the bathroom was mouldy, smelled funny and the water temperature was totally inconsistent. The bedroom itself was an OK size - we just got a standard room which was fine 2 adults + a toddler. It is an old hotel and the rooms are in need of either a really good clean or a facelift!

On the plus side, it's in a great location with the airport bus stopping more or less right outside. It's nearby some great cafes and shops - a great area. Inside the hotel, the kids activity centre was amazing - our 2 year old absolutely loved it.

We got a good deal on our room but we wouldn't stay here again...

We joined a Five Stars Tour and had to stay for 2 nights in this terrible hotel which does not even rate a 1 star. The hotel is poorly designed especially the lift lobby. There is only 3 small lifts for guests but 1 was being used by the maintenance staff to transport some hotel fixtures, thus the guests only had 2 lifts to use. At the time of our check-in there were other tour groups checking-in so you can only imagine the long queue of people waiting with the luggage.
The room was also not well maintained. The edge of our room door (rm #1002) was chipped, looking like someone had broken into the room. The chain latch on the door was not installed properly but I hear that it's the same in the other rooms. Above the door was a smoke detector/sensor devise that was also not installed properly exposing the electrical parts. There were no duvet skirting for the beds which meant that we could see the plastic wrapping of the duvet, and the bed sheets and quilts seem too small for the beds. The bathroom lights switches off automatically to save energy so it's not advisable to take too long a shower, and the bathroom light switch is not near the bathroom door so it's troublesome if you need to switch on the lights again.
To give a guest a room in such terrible condition not only shows a lack of respect for the guest, but also shows that the staff takes no pride in keeping the rooms well maintained.
This was the last hotel we were staying in before we flew home and it was the worst way to end a holiday.
