I stayed in the Raon guesthouse for two nights, chosen because of its proximity to the start of the Seoul marathon. Ryu, the host, was extremely accommodating, which was very helpful pre marathon. He let us do our laundry, and even hung it up when we were out at dinner, which was WAY above and beyond. Things to note: -Location...

The place was great and helped connect with the culture much quicker. The manager is such an awesome person. Great prices and is situated in a very accessible area where you can have privacy but at the same time get to all the touristic sites in Gwanghwamun easily.

My husband was apprehensive about staying in a hanok and so I only booked a night Firstly, do beware that hanoks are traditional guesthouses - the rooms are fairly small and the doors do not have western-style locks. Do expect this because that is how the houses are all designed. However, once you (or in this case my husband) get...

Place was very near Gyeongbokgung Palace & accessible to Anguk station. Owner was very responsive and helpful. He recommended us to a great place where we could have authentic Korean food with affordable price. Upon check in he was there to welcome us & since the place was not fully booked during our time, he transferred us to a bigger...

My stay of 4 days at Raon Guesthouse has been excellent. The building is a nice Korean Hanok traditional style. Changgon, the owner of the guesthouse, is very friendly and helpful. He created a relaxed and homelike atmosphere during my entire stay. Changgon gave me valuable ideas for visiting Seoul and provided an efficient support in case of need. I...

I stayed in here for a night. It's not big room but enough for two. I felt like am in grand mother's old fashion house. Clean room and restroom, nice location. And owner is really kind :) I will comeback again soon! Thanks for everything! 잠시 쉬고싶어 서울에서 비교적 조용한 한옥을 찾았는데 아주 마음에 들었습니다. 크진 않았지만 그냥 푹 자기에...

I came to Raon Guesthouse on my first ever trip to South Korea, and my experience was absolutely amazing. The location of the Guesthouse is close to all the major palaces and temples, just a 3 minute walk from Gyeongbokgung and less than 10 from many others. Many of the railways are within walking distance of the Guesthouse as well....

My husband and I stayed for 1 night and we really enjoyed it. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Nice and clean room. The location was also great - near the Gyeongbokgung Palace down a small and quiet road. We will definitly recommend this place to others and if we come back we will stay here again :)

Staying in Samcheongdong / Bukchon

Neighbourhood Profile
Samcheongdong / Bukchon
This historic neighbourhood was traditionally home to Seoul’s middle and upper-classes. Now it’s most famed for its clusters of beautiful, traditional Korean homes (called hanok), many of which are found in Bukchon. Many of these homes have now been converted into restaurants, cafes, shops, and even guesthouses, and their unique architecture offers a look at Korea’s traditional beauty. Samcheongdong’s main and side streets attract locals and tourists alike for their quaint and charming scenery, while the Blue House (Cheong Wa Dae) serves as the residence for South Korea’s president. Art fans will love exploring the many independent and private art galleries in the area.
